Meanwhile, EastEnders' Ava Hartman will soon be tempted to reunite with her ex-husband Sam James.

Sam (Cornell S John) recently arrived in Walford hoping to build up a relationship with his son Dexter. Not one to give up easily, he continues to make his presence felt on Albert Square in the coming days.

As Sam and Ava (Clare Perkins) begin to rake over the past, it becomes clear that they still have unresolved feelings for each other - which gives Sam a way back into the family.

As Dexter isn't happy about Sam being around, Ava takes the bull by the horns and tells her ex that he should leave. However, things don't go to plan when Sam kisses her and she is unable to resist…

    Tuesday

With Lauren asleep on the sofa in last night's clothes, a fed-up Tanya throws a glass of water over her and tells her to get up. She urges Lauren not to throw her future away, but all Lauren is concerned about is buying more booze, so she asks her mum for some money 'for college books'. Seeing straight through her lies, Tanya asks Denise and Kirsty to stop selling Lauren alcohol. However, Lauren stays one step ahead as she visits Dot, who happily hands her some money as a treat.

Later, Lauren hears that Kim is having a birthday party and decides to attend. As Lauren starts knocking back more booze, Denise calls Tanya to warn her of what's going on. When Tanya arrives, it's just as Lauren has drunkenly smashed Kim's birthday cake. Embarrassed to see her daughter in such a state, Tanya drags Lauren home. However, she decides not to tell Max what's going on as he is preoccupied with Kirsty and the upcoming scan.

Ray doesn't think much of Kim's outfit.
Meanwhile, it's Kim and Ray's last day in Walford, but it's quickly becoming apparent that the couple don't actually have much in common. At Kim's birthday party, Poppy and Fatboy's presents to the pair are bright orange matching onesies. While Ray is horrified, Kim loves them. Later, when they're about to leave, Kim sees that Ray has already discarded his gift. Realising that Ray doesn't really know her, Kim decides to stay in Walford and says goodbye to him.

Elsewhere, Sharon isn't pleased when Shirley puts Phil down in front of Dennis. However, Shirley gives her food for thought by declaring that Phil only cares about himself. Later, when Phil sees how much Dennis is missing him, he invites the youngster over to visit. When Sharon next sees Shirley, she tells her that she was wrong about Phil.

Also today, Alice continues to feel caught in the middle between Michael and Janine, while Kirsty becomes increasingly uncomfortable with the scan day fast approaching.

    Wednesday
It's the day of Kirsty's scan, so she cancels the appointment and tells Max that the clinic has let them down. However, Max is annoyed and demands that they should go there to sort it out. When they arrive, Max has a go at the receptionist, but before she can protest that Kirsty was the one who cancelled the appointment, Kirsty has a panic attack and soon rushes out of the clinic.

Later, Max catches up with Kirsty back at the flat and tells her that he knows she was the one who cancelled the scan. It looks like Kirsty is about to confess everything, but Max then says that it's his own fault for pushing her into the scan in the first place. With Max so sympathetic, Kirsty is left deeper in the lie than ever.

Meanwhile, when it's revealed that Lauren spent the money that Dot gave her on alcohol, she is forced to do a day's work at the launderette to pay the money back. While there, Cora tries to get Lauren to open up about her drinking problem, but just when she seems to be making progress, Dot enters and Lauren leaves. Later, Cora goes to buy a drink at The Vic and realises that her money is missing. She quickly realises that Lauren has taken it.

    Sam confronts Ava.
Elsewhere, Ava and Dexter are annoyed to see that Sam hasn't left Walford, but Sam is fed up with being seen as the bad guy. Visiting Ava's flat, Sam tells her that he made it impossible for him to stay with her because she was constantly paranoid that he was going to leave like her mother did. Amid the arguments, the pair find themselves confessing just how much they loved each other. However, when Sam leans in for a kiss, Ava pulls away.

Also today, Kim decides to reinvent herself to attract the right kind of man but later realises that she's perfect just the way she is, while Dot tries to improve her people skills after the reverend arranges to come over next week to assess her suitability for the church warden job.

    Thursday

Tanya thinks that Lauren is making progress and so gives her some money to treat herself. However, Cora tells Tanya that Lauren stole from her yesterday and that she could be heading down the same road as Rainie. Not long afterwards, Lauren tells Abi that she did steal from Cora. However, just when Lauren is going to confess to Tanya, she is distraught as her mum compares her to Rainie. Upset over the comparison, Lauren leaves the house.

    Lauren punches Lucy.
When Lauren then heads to The Vic, Kirsty respects Tanya's wishes by refusing to serve her. Abi also tries to talk Lauren round, but Lauren tells her sister to go away. Witnessing Lauren's behaviour, Joey goes over to make sure everything is okay. However, Lucy can see the intimacy between the former couple, so she winds Lauren up until she snaps and punches her in the face. Joey tries to restrain Lauren, but she grabs a sugar jar off the table and throws it through the cafe window before storming off…

    Sharon tries to kiss Phil.
Meanwhile, Lola isn't getting enough sleep as she is looking after Lexi so closely. When Trish pays a visit, she reminds Lola that it's okay to ask for help and she doesn't have to do everything on her own. At the same time, Sharon visits Phil and tells him that Dennis misses living at his place, but it's clear that she does too as she leans in for a kiss. To her surprise, Phil reacts angrily and tells Sharon that she's pathetic for using Dennis to try and get back with him.

Once Sharon has gone, Phil feels lonely again and considers calling her. However, he is soon distracted by the arrival of Lola, who asks him to look after Lexi so that she can work. Phil's mood changes as he is delighted to have Lexi for the day.

Elsewhere, Dot feels more confident about the church warden position when Poppy gives her a new modern style, while Kirsty continues to struggle with her conscience as Max surprises her with lunch in bed and a present for the baby's nursery.

    Friday

Lauren has returned to The Vic after punching Lucy, and Abi can't believe what she's done. While Lauren is only concerned with getting a drink, she soon has a much bigger issue to worry about when the police arrive to arrest her for assaulting Lucy.

Meanwhile, Alice is feeling guilty about betraying Janine, and Michael ups the pressure by demanding that he wants to see Scarlett every day. Alice later feels even worse when Janine presents her with a Booty's pamper package as a treat. An uncomfortable Alice tries to cancel the plans to take Scarlett to see Michael, but he continues to manipulate her by bringing up the fact that she has just lost her father.

Ava is unable to resist Sam.
Elsewhere, Dexter still isn't pleased with Ava over Sam being back in their lives. Cora offers to help Ava get rid of Sam, but Ava tells Cora that she almost kissed him. With Cora's help, Ava decides to tell Sam that he has to leave. However, things don't go to plan when Sam kisses her. Ava knows it's a bad idea but she can't resist.

Also today, Shirley invites Sharon to have a drink with her and they begin to form a surprising bond. Shirley points out that Sharon always stood by Phil, only for him to kick her out the one time she messed up. However, Sharon fails to reveal exactly why Phil ended things.

Finally, a grumpy Carol loses her temper with Tiffany but is shocked by her own outburst. She decides to make an appointment with the doctor to get to the bottom of how she has been feeling lately.

Kirsty Branning suffers a panic attack on EastEnders next week as the stress of her baby lie becomes too much to bear.

Over the past few weeks, viewers have seen Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) trapped in a web of deceit after falsely telling husband Max that she is expecting a baby.

Kirsty only told the lie in a desperate attempt to keep hold of Max (Jake Wood), but she is now in an impossible situation as she tries to prevent the truth from coming out.

The trickiest moment yet for Kirsty arrives next week when Max drags her along to an appointment for a 3D baby scan.

Well aware that her lies will be exposed any minute, Kirsty has a panic attack and rushes out of the clinic.

EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa has predicted that fans will be shocked when they see how bad things get for her troubled character Lauren Branning.

Lauren's drinking problem spirals out of control over the next fortnight, and she also faces trouble with the law when the police arrest her for punching her enemy Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater).

Speaking to Inside Soap, Jossa confirmed that things will only get worse for Lauren as she faces possible charges.

Jossa commented: "To be honest with you, Lauren hasn't got much of a chance. Her life has to get much worse before it gets better - and it does get worse, it really does!

"The storyline coming up is pretty shocking. I very much hope it hits home for viewers watching.

"The only person who can help Lauren is herself. For a while, there was a chance Joey might have been able to, but he gave up. So until Lauren realises she's got serious problems, she's not going to get better."

EastEnders airs Lauren's arrest on Friday, May 31 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
