EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell has a massive decision to make next week as the moment of truth arrives for Lola Pearce and her baby daughter Lexi.

Phil (Steve McFadden) has recently accepted that Lola (Danielle Harold) is a good mum who deserves to have her young child back, but he begins to have second thoughts when the day of Lexi's final court hearing arrives.

Having kicked Sharon Rickman out of his home due to her painkiller addiction, Phil is appalled when Lola lets slip that she and Billy knew about the problem but didn't say anything.

Shocked that Lola still left Lexi in Sharon's care, Phil fears that she isn't a fit parent after all. As Phil storms out of the court building, Billy (Perry Fenwick) follows in hot pursuit - begging him to make sure that Lola gets Lexi back.

Later, Lola fears that everything is going wrong when the court hearing begins without Phil. Fortunately, Sharon (Letitia Dean) fights her corner by painting her as a fantastic mother in front of the judge.

When Phil walks in, Lola and her loved ones are extremely nervous about what he might say. Can Phil bring himself to support Lola, or will he ruin everything for her all over again?

Sharon notices that Jack has returned to Walford and decides to pay him a visit. She assures him that there doesn't need to be an awkward atmosphere between them because she's now with Phil, so everything has turned out for the best. However, Phil isn't happy when he finds out about Sharon visiting her ex, even though she protests that she just wanted everything out in the open.

A panicked Phil frantically tries to wake Sharon.
Later in The Vic, Jack tells Sharon that he is glad she has found happiness. However, Sharon lets her mask slip by telling Jack that his apology doesn't make up for what he did to her and Dennis. Once Sharon has collected Lexi and returned home, she collapses onto the sofa and takes more pills. When Phil arrives home, he is horrified to discover Sharon unconscious and Lexi playing with the bottle of pills…

Meanwhile, Alice is fed up with being bossed around by Janine, so Michael advises her to stand up for herself more. Billy has also noticed that Alice is unhappy and urges Janine to treat her better before she quits. Taking this on board, Janine invites Alice out for lunch and is pleasantly surprised to see a new feisty side to her. As they get on well, Janine tells Alice that she doesn't think Kat is right for Michael. When Alice later reports back to Michael, he convinces her to bring Scarlett to see him behind Janine's back.

Elsewhere, Sam is still in Walford and tells Ava that he won't be leaving until he makes amends with his son. Soon afterwards, Billy is surprised to find out that Ava's ex is back on the scene. Billy is slightly dubious when Ava later rearranges their date, but he ultimately decides to accept. That evening, things get off to a good start as Dexter welcomes Billy into the flat with a smile before leaving him and Ava to it.

Also today, Lauren hits the bottle as Whitney, Joey and Lucy are giving her the cold shoulder, while Kim wonders if there is still hope for her relationship with Ray.

    Tuesday

A terrified Phil takes the unopened bottle of pills from Lexi before trying to wake Sharon. When Sharon comes round, Phil urges her to count the tablets to see whether Lexi could have taken any. Fortunately, they realise that there are no missing tablets. When Phil starts to question Sharon about the pills, she denies having a problem. However, this isn't good enough for Phil and he forces Sharon to admit that they're the same pills she was on before.

Sharon tries to prove to Phil that she doesn't need the pills by encouraging him to throw them away. However, a suspicious Phil tips out her handbag and sees that she has even more tablets inside. Phil knows that he has everything he's ever wanted now that he's with Sharon, but he also realises that he can't put Lexi at risk or jeopardise the family's chances of keeping the baby. Although Sharon protests that they're meant to be together forever, Phil kicks her out and leaves her with nowhere to go.

    Billy and Ava kiss.
Meanwhile, Ava and Billy's date gets off to a promising start. However, as the conversation continues, Billy is put off when he starts to realise that there is unfinished business between Ava and Sam. Ava tries to get things back on track by leaning in to kiss Billy, but he can tell that it's forced and suggests that they should take things slowly. When Billy questions Ava about Sam, there's more disappointment ahead for him as she doesn't deny that she could still have feelings for her ex.

Elsewhere, Jack tells Max that he doesn't think there's anything keeping him in Walford anymore. Jack hopes that his brother will talk him round, but Max fails to provide any reassurance. Things get worse for Jack when Michael gives him the cold shoulder for leaving him to deal with the business alone. However, it seems that there could still be some hope left for Jack when he sees Amy waving to him from a window at The Vic.

Also today, Phil leaves Lexi with Lola while he deals with Sharon and she wonders what's going on, Max is suspicious when Kirsty diverts numerous calls on her mobile, Lauren tries to kiss Joey but he rejects her, while Ray is tempted by a home-cooked dinner with Kim.

    Thursday

It's the day of Lexi's final court hearing. Although Phil has told Lola that Sharon won't be coming to the hearing, she suddenly breezes in to the court building. Phil orders Sharon to leave, but she insists that she is sorting herself out and wants to support Lola. When Lola tries to stick up for Sharon, she accidentally lets slip that she and Billy knew about Sharon's problem. Phil is disgusted that Lola knew and still left Lexi in Sharon's care. He storms outside and Billy follows in hot pursuit, begging him to make sure that Lola gets Lexi back.

Later, Lola fears the worst when the hearing begins without Phil. However, things seem to be going well when Sharon paints Lola as a fantastic mother to the judge. Suddenly, Phil walks in and Lola and Billy are both petrified about what he might say. What will Phil do? And what will the judge's decision be?

Kirsty tells Max her ex wants to see her.
Meanwhile, when Kirsty takes another test and discovers that she still isn't pregnant, she decides that it's time to tell Max the truth. Later, she tries to come clean with Max, but is distracted when she receives a phone call from Adam, the brother of her ex-boyfriend Carl. Kirsty then explains to Max that Carl is being released from prison and wants to see her. After Kirsty has played Adam's voice message, Max assures her that he will protect her and the baby from any harm.

Elsewhere, Tanya and Jack decide to address Lauren's drinking problem by sitting down and talking to her together. However, Lauren assures them that she is trying to get over Joey and is now determined to focus on her studies. Tanya seems happy with Lauren's explanation, but not for long as she later finds her daughter's notebook and discovers that she hasn't done any more of her essay despite her promises.

Also today, Alice secretly takes Scarlett to meet Michael in the park, while Carol is upset when Masood cancels their latest date because he has to urgently visit Syed.

    Friday

Max calls Adam to tell him to leave Kirsty alone, but Adam hangs up. When Max tries to get back in touch, the calls keep going through to voicemail. Kirsty tells Max that she just wants to ignore Adam, but Max isn't sure that this is the best way of dealing with the situation.

    Adam punches Max.
Later, Max confides in Jack and the brothers come up with a plan to get both Adam and Carl out of the picture. Max visits Adam and makes it clear that Carl should stay away from Kirsty, but Adam reacts angrily and punches Max. However, Jack then appears and helps Max out. With the Brannings now having the upper hand, Max orders Adam to tell Carl that Kirsty is not interested. Back on the Square, Kirsty gets upset over Max's decision to see Adam, knowing that her troubles are far from over…

Meanwhile, Lauren tries to improve her behaviour by making a surprise breakfast for the family, finishing off her essay and helping Tanya out at Booty's. When Whitney comes into the salon for a manicure, she spitefully points out for Lauren's benefit that she's out with Lucy tonight. Although hurt, Lauren tells Tanya that she doesn't mind as she's going out tonight with Hannah, a friend from college.

Tanya realises the extent of Lauren's drinking.
Later, Lauren consumes a bottle of wine at the allotments and Patrick joins her for a drink. When Lauren confides in Patrick, he urges her to go home and speak to Tanya. As Lauren arrives home, she confesses that Hannah doesn't exist and the reason she drinks is because she knows she can't live up to Abi in Tanya's eyes. Lauren adds that she can't remember the last time she went a day without alcohol, and the scale of her drinking problem comes crashing down on Tanya…

Elsewhere, Ray realises that he needs to be with Sasha permanently and quits his job. Later, Kim is devastated when Ray explains that he is leaving Walford, but he invites her to come with him. To Ray's surprise, Kim jumps at the chance.

Also today, a church warden position has become available and Dot thinks the vicar is hinting that she'd be perfect for the job, while Sharon approaches Phil assuming they can go back to how they were but Phil isn't having any of it.

Tanya Cross is left devastated on EastEnders next week as she realises the full extent of her daughter Lauren's drinking problem.

Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) is finally honest with her mum after Patrick Trueman gives her some advice on how to move forward.

Finding Lauren downing a bottle of wine alone at the allotments, Patrick (Rudolph Walker) joins her for a drink and a heart-to-heart.

When Lauren confides in Patrick, he suggests that she should go straight home to Tanya (Jo Joyner) and speak to her.

After agreeing to do so, Lauren heads back to the Square and explains to Tanya that the reason she drinks so much is because she knows she can't live up to Abi in her mother's eyes.

When Lauren adds that she cannot remember the last time she went a day without alcohol, the scale of her drinking problem comes crashing down on Tanya. What will Tanya do about it?

Max Branning finds himself in a violent situation on EastEnders next week as he tries to protect his wife Kirsty.

The businessman becomes concerned over Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) when she tells him that she has been bombarded with phone calls from Adam, the brother of her bad boy ex Carl White. It seems that Adam wants Kirsty to meet up with Carl, who has just been released from prison.

Still believing that Kirsty is pregnant, Max (Jake Wood) immediately vows to protect her and his unborn child from any harm.

After Max calls on his brother Jack (Scott Maslen) for support, the pair decide that it's time to get both Adam and Carl out of the picture once and for all.

When Max visits Adam and makes it clear that Carl should stay away from Kirsty, Adam reacts angrily and punches him.

Having been watching from afar, Jack then rushes to intervene and the Branning siblings end up with the upper hand - ordering Adam to tell Carl that Kirsty isn't interested.

Max is pleased to think that he has resolved the issue, but when Kirsty finds out what has happened, she knows that her problems are far from over...

Carl will join EastEnders next month with actor Daniel Coonan playing the part.

Alice Branning struggles with divided loyalties on EastEnders next week as she feels torn between Michael Moon and Janine Butcher.

Last night (May 13), viewers saw Janine hire Alice (Jasmyn Banks) as baby Scarlett's nanny, providing her with a perfect opportunity to keep tabs on Janine and report back to Michael (Steve John Shepherd).

Alice is initially happy to be Michael's spy as her crush on him is stronger than ever.

However, Alice later feels guilty when Janine (Charlie Brooks) starts to make an effort with her, which leads to the pair striking up an unlikely bond. Janine even gives Alice some extra money for being such a great nanny.

Trying to concentrate on the real reason she's doing the job, Alice takes Scarlett to see Michael in the park behind Janine's back.

Michael is delighted to have a rare chance to spend time with Scarlett, but can a stressed-out Alice continue to deceive Janine?
