Corrie star John Michie has revealed that his character Karl Munro will blame ex-lover Sunita Alahan as his downfall continues.

Sunita (Shobna Gulati) watches on gleefully at The Rovers next week as Jason Grimshaw angrily confronts Karl for kidnapping Stella Price in his taxi.

Next Monday's double bill (March 4) sees Karl drive Stella off to a deserted spot in another attempt to win her back.

Although Karl eventually lets Stella go, Jason is furious when he learns of the cabbie's desperate antics - which results in a violent showdown when Karl next visits The Rovers.

Michie told itv.com of the fight scene: "[Karl's] not stupid. He knows there is going to be some kind of reaction. Karl is who he is, he thinks he will be able to charm his way out of it by explaining it all and it will be fine.

"Unfortunately Jason is there, and Jason is the one person who has the ability to make Karl lose control. He cannot control his anger or jealousy when he's around."

Karl later tries to get even with Jason by torching his work van. However, Sunita may also be on his hit list as he knows their affair caused the breakdown of his relationship with Stella in the first place.

Michie added: "Karl blames Sunita, full stop. He's one of these guys who thinks the world owes him a living. He thinks he's a good guy that's been tempted by a temptress."

Asked how Karl feels when Sunita seems to be enjoying the drama at the pub, the actor replied: "He despises her. He blames her entirely and vows to make her pay."

Coronation Street continues tonight (February 25) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.

Meanwhile, Paul is frosty with Eileen, but he softens as she explains that she lives in fear that he'll leave her for someone else. Paul does his best to reassure her, but when Eileen later finds he's been lying to her about his whereabouts, she fears the worst.

Elsewhere, Anna is surprised to hear how many Barlows are attending the school play and confronts Brian about their limited tickets. Will she realise Faye has pulled a fast one to stop Owen going?

Also, Ryan asks Katy if she is jealous about his date with Steph. A flustered Katy denies it, but Ryan is unconvinced.

Finally, Fiz tells Tyrone that she persuaded Alison to speak to Kirsty, but has she withdrawn her allegations?

Jason is fuming as the police question him, claiming to have received a tip-off that someone matching his description was seen fleeing from a burning van.

Realising he's been set up, Jason tells the police to talk to Karl. Stella thinks Jason is being ridiculous. As the couple row, could Karl's plan be working?

Meanwhile, Eileen confronts Paul for lying about his whereabouts, but when he angrily reveals that he went with Toni to buy Eileen an engagement ring, she's gutted to realise she's blown her romantic proposal!

Elsewhere, after a triumphant performance, Anna tackles Faye over her lies about the tickets. As it becomes clear that Faye hoped Tim and Anna would become a couple, will Owen and Anna's relationship reach breaking point?

Also, Fiz tells Tina that Tyrone's solicitor reckons that by approaching Alison, they could be accused of intimidating a witness.

Finally, Sunita invites Dev to stay for tea as they bask in their shared pride after the twins' play, while Katy is jealous as Steph and Ryan go on their date.

Coronation Street star John Michie has said that his character Karl Munro is not "a total monster".

Viewers have seen Karl become increasingly desperate to win ex-girlfriend Stella Price back in recent weeks following his affair with Sunita Alahan.

This week, Karl will kidnap Stella in his taxi as he continues his bid to win back her affection. He will also be a prime suspect in the aftermath of the Rovers Return fire later this month, which is said to take the life of Sunita.

The actor told PA: "He has a plan but it all goes horribly wrong, and then he has to catch up with the events.

"It's the events themselves that turn him bad; deep down he himself isn't a bad person, he's just obsessed and in love."

Karl will resort to arson to get revenge on Jason Grimshaw, who is now dating Stella. Karl will steal Jason's van and drive it to a remote spot before setting it on fire.

Karl will blame his ex-lover Sunita as his problems continue to worsen, but Michie does not believe that Karl will be responsible for her death.

He said: "There's no love lost for Sunita, although he would feel real concern for her children.

"Although he wasn't very nice to them he did get quite close to them, and he was a bit of a surrogate dad to them for a while. He does quite like them really, so the thought of them not having a mum would probably be the worst thing for him."

Coronation Street continues on Monday (March 4) at 7.30pm on ITV.

Corrie's Kirsty Soames is left in turmoil this evening (March 4) as her mother Alison urges her to stop lying about Tyrone Dobbs.

Alison (Dawn Hope) pays a visit to Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) after Fiz Stape and Tina McIntyre let her know about her daughter's ongoing deception.

Struggling to believe that Kirsty would lie about Tyrone physically abusing her, Alison hopes to support her and asks to hear the full story.

Unfortunately for Kirsty, her mum soon senses that her domestic violence accusations are totally untrue and that Tyrone is innocent. Can Alison convince Kirsty to see sense?
