Debbie on the dark side
Having had her heart ripped out by cheating boyfriend Cameron, a devastated Debbie is determined to take control of her life as 2013 begins.
With the future of her daughter Sarah and newborn son Jack her priority, Debbie reckons a get-rich-quick scheme is the order of the day.
But Cain starts to worry when his daughter’s plan involves conning oblivious newcomer Dom, then risking a dangerous run-in with the law.
Our insider warns: “Debbie’s on a mission and she’s taking no prisoners.
“Her initial target is Dom. But once it becomes clear Debbie will stop at nothing to get her way, Cain and Charity start to wonder if their daughter might be out of control.”

Joy and pain for David
Despite her dignified reaction to the news, Alicia is gutted when David and Priya become an item.
But as she and son Jacob prepare to move out, David may be thinking twice.
Our source says: “David was like a dad to Jacob while Alicia was in jail, so it’s no wonder the situation is strained.
“Jacob is distraught at the prospect of moving — and desperate for his mum and David to get back together.” Are David’s feelings for Priya strong enough for him to sacrifice his bond with Jacob?

Baby blues

When the time comes for little Archie to leave hospital, his mum Rachel is in pieces. Is Sam the one to save her?
Our spy says: “With no partner to support her, Rachel wonders whether she’s cut out for motherhood. But Sam is determined to stand by her.”
With Charity unaware that Jai is Archie’s dad, it’s unlikely he’ll be much help. So could Rachel’s bond with Sam blossom into something more?

Three’s still a crowd
In the wake of Katie’s accident, her marriage to Declan is a mess. And that’s left Declan’s half-sister Megan with plenty of room to meddle.
Our mole admits: “Declan and Katie were united in their determination to get Megan out of their lives, but Katie’s accident changed all that.
“Megan plays the dutiful sibling. But she did vow to take revenge on Declan and Katie for ripping her off over the Home Farm festival.”

Emmerdale's outgoing series producer Stuart Blackburn has shared a number of storyline teasers for 2013 in a new video interview.

DEBBIE
Stuart: "The Chas, Cameron and Debbie story has just been brilliant. Right now what we're seeing is a struggle for Chas and Cameron - it's about how they can finally come to terms with it.

"But there's still a love story involving Debbie. Debbie's still just as heartbroken, and I think we'll see over the coming months, her response is going to be actually quite terrifying. If you thought Cain was bad, Debbie's so hardened… she really is going to become daddy's girl."

DINGLE FAMILY
Stuart: "There's big stories coming up for the Dingle family. It's been a long time since Sam's found love. He is going to find it, but of course, it's not all going to be so straightforward.

"But for Zak and Lisa, what we sometimes forget is that they're just parents and they've got a young girl, Belle. We're going to play a massive story about Belle growing up. Zak and Lisa are going to struggle to rein Belle in."


JAI, CHARITY AND RACHEL
Stuart: "Jai and Charity are just such a great couple. But as we all know now, Jai's got this terrible burden. Obviously, if and when Charity finds out [about Jai's baby], all hell will break loose.

"There's a lot more secrets and lies, and a lot more people to get involved along the way."

GENNIE, NIKHIL AND BRENDA
Stuart: "Gennie and Nikhil are just a dream of a couple. They're so different, and yet seem absolutely made for each other.

"There'll be tragic and heartbreaking news for Brenda, and I think you're going to see a really loving, beautiful side of all of them."


DAVID, ALICIA AND PRIYA
Stuart: "The David, Alicia and Priya story has been beautiful. David is just hapless - the man's a blithering idiot! This is a rom-com - Alicia is always there at the sidelines, and I think you'll find big changes when Alicia finally learns to move on, gets a new career up at Home Farm and eventually perhaps finds a man.

"That's when maybe, just maybe, David might start looking at things differently. But if you think he's going to get it right, you're wrong!"

AMY'S FAMILY SITUATION
Stuart: "Amy, Kerry, Val, Eric - it remains a love story. This is about Amy doing her absolute best to almost become a mother to Kerry. It's a complete role reversal, and it's about what happens next if Amy's tried and perhaps failed to be a good mother to her mother."

MARLON AND LAUREL
Stuart: "There's going to be hope coming from this story. They are going to find a time of peace now. I think Laurel and Ashley, with Bernice on the scene, are going to have to find a way to work together."


JIMMY AND NICOLA
Stuart: "Jimmy and Nicola are one of my favourite couples on the show. Nicola's always had huge ambitions, and she's got ambitions for Angel as well. She will want the best school and the best clothing. Jimmy's kind of, 'Get his slippers on, watch the telly and everything's okay'.

"So I think once we challenge what this couple both want and start to see the temptation of Nicola, it's really going to send some shockwaves in that relationship."

MOIRA AND CAIN
Stuart: "Moira and Cain are sort of, just about, together. Cain's had to fight all his instincts - he's learned a lot over the last year and I think what we're going to see is he really, really is falling in love with Moira.

"This is somebody he will love and want to be with perhaps for the rest of his life. The question is, whether ultimately that's what Moira wants."


MACEY FAMILY
Stuart: "Katie, Declan and Megan have had such a hideous time. There are going to be massive changes at Home Farm, and right at the heart of it is a really tough little nut in Katie. She's come through a lot, and she's going to come through a lot more."

PADDY AND RHONA
Stuart: "We've now got Vanessa in the mix. We're going to take Rhona down a very, very long road. How she copes with it and deals with it is going to push her and Paddy's relationship right to the edge."


SANDY
Stuart: "What we're blessed with at Emmerdale within our older cast is some great actors. We've seen with Sandy what he can do. There is some more lovely stuff coming up as he strives to find his independence. It's a great cast we've got, and we're going to use them to the best of our ability."

KILLER CAMERON
Stuart: "Keep your eyes on Cameron - he'll go a long, long way to keep [his] secret safe. He's not done yet!"
