Coronation Street's Fiz Stape will be left in a critical condition after being poisoned by carbon monoxide on Boxing Day.

Her secret lover Tyrone's attempts to fix her faulty boiler will end in disaster, actor Alan Halsall has confirmed.

"He's absolutely devastated," he told the Radio Times. "He can't believe he is possibly going to lose yet another person who he loves.

"He thinks he knows what he's doing because he fixes cars. But, of course, the last thing he should be doing is fixing a boiler. He's not qualified at all, and it's such a risky thing to do.

"He feels guilty. She might die and it would be his fault. But he knows that if he comes clean about messing with the boiler, then Kirsty will know he was at the house and the whole affair will be exposed."

Details of the storyline first emerged back in September, with a report suggesting that Tyrone may face criminal repercussions for illegally carrying out work on the heater.

While Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) is fighting for her life in hospital, Tyrone has to continue spending Christmas with Kirsty. The mechanic is waiting to marry his violent fiancée so he can secure parental rights over his baby daughter Ruby.

Halsall added: "It's impossible - he has to pretend to Kirsty that he isn't interested in how Fiz is, when all he wants to do is rush to her bedside.

"He's totally in love with Fiz – they belong together and they would make such a lovely family with the two girls."

Yesterday it was revealed that Tina McIntyre will support their affair over the festive period by allowing them access to her flat.

Coronation Street's Leanne Barlow takes centre stage this Christmas as she must decide whether she really wants to marry Nick Tilsley.

Leanne (Jane Danson) is due to tie the knot with Nick (Ben Price) on Christmas Day after he booked an expensive country house ceremony for them at the last minute. However, on the eve of the wedding, Leanne's ex-husband Peter gives her lots to think about by urging her not to go ahead with the big day.

Faced with the realisation that Peter (Chris Gascoyne) wants her back, Leanne tries to push aside any doubts as she wakes up the next morning and changes into her wedding dress.

Just as she is about to leave, though, Leanne realises that she'll have to face her true emotions and rushes off to pay Peter a surprise visit…

At the same time, Leanne's scheming half-sister Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) does her worst in a bid to scupper the day, still secretly harbouring feelings for Nick.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the ceremony, will Leanne actually become Mrs Tilsley?

Coronation Street's Jane Danson has revealed that Leanne's wedding episode features a shocking twist that made her gasp.

Her character Leanne is due to re-marry first husband Nick Tilsley in the Christmas episode, but ex-husband Peter Barlow's return to the Street causes her to have second thoughts.

Danson told the Daily Record: "Even I, the person playing the role, didn't see the twist coming.

"I was turning my script, gasping. I can usually second guess what is going to happen but on this occasion it was 'oh no'.

"This story has been bubbling away for about three or four years with Leanne going from Peter to Nick. It seems whatever mood she is in she's in love with a different one."

No other Battersbys are reported to be attending the wedding, which has a winter wonderland theme with Leanne as the ice princess.

The actress added: "I hope the viewers enjoy it. We've had great fun making it and it really is a shocker."

So what is the twist Nick wont marry her

Coronation Street's Leanne Barlow realises she has a massive decision to make this evening (December 24) as it becomes clear that ex-husband Peter wants her back.

Tonight's episode sees Leanne (Jane Danson) get drunk at her hen party as she struggles with her mixed emotions over the upcoming wedding. When the bride-to-be arrives back on the cobbles following the wild night out, Peter (Chris Gascoyne) is on hand to help her sober up.

After making Leanne some coffee in the back room of The Rovers, Peter questions whether she is really doing the right thing by marrying Nick.

When Peter lays his heart on the line and adds that he was wrong to throw their own happiness away, will Leanne be tempted to get back with him?
