Emmerdale star Charlotte Bellamy has predicted that there will be "fireworks" when Bernice Blackstock returns to the village in November.

Samantha Giles recently announced that she is reprising the role of Bernice, the ex-wife of Ashley Thomas and biological mum of Gabby.

Although Bellamy's character Laurel recently separated from Ashley, she still may not be pleased to see Bernice as show bosses have tipped the returnee to "really stir things up".

Bellamy told Inside Soap: "Laurel will be jealous in the sense that Gabby will think Bernice is fantastic.

"Laurel has suddenly become the monster in Gabby's life, so how she copes with Bernice's return is the million dollar question. I'm sure there will be fireworks, put it that way!"

Next week's Emmerdale episodes see Gabby decide to live with Ashley, leaving Laurel devastated.

Despite the setback, however, Bellamy has tipped Laurel for a brighter future with new partner Marlon.

She commented: "It can only get better for them, as surely it can't get any worse. The only advice I can give Laurel is to follow her heart. She and Marlon are in domestic hell, which isn't very romantic. But they have amazing chemistry, and that's the only thing working for them at the moment."
