Maybe it is a case of not wanting her for himself but also not wanting anybody else to have her

Coming up in Emmerdale, David Metcalfe is baffled as he finds himself embroiled in Rachel Breckle's baby dramas.

Rachel has recently been hiding her pregnancy news from everyone except Jai and her closest family members. However, her secret is out later this month when Dan questions why she is only drinking water at the pub, before blurting out that she must be pregnant.

Dan and Charity then make things even more awkward for Rachel by quizzing her about who the father is, which results in her leaving The Woolpack upset.

The next day, Ali (Kelli Hollis) notices that good-natured David is being particularly sympathetic towards Rachel after hearing her news. This leaves Ali convinced that David (Matthew Wolfenden) is the father, so she later rages at him in the pub in front of everyone.

David has no idea what Ali is talking about, and soon Ruby (Alicya Eyo) is forced to step in as it's clear that she has gone too far.

With gossip and speculation surrounding her pregnancy now at fever pitch, Rachel reaches breaking point. How long can she carry on hiding the fact that Jai is the father?

Charity demands that Jai should cancel his plans and watch Noah in the show at the village hall. Realising he has no choice, Jai attempts to warn Rachel, but is unsuccessful as Charity swipes his phone. Later in The Woolpack, Jai is awkward as Ali questions Rachel about being stood up, while Dan wonders why Rachel is only drinking water. When David arrives, Charity assumes that he and Rachel are an item, joking about a pregnancy test. Suddenly, all becomes clear to Dan and he blurts out that Rachel must be pregnant.

Rachel and Jai are horrified as Charity and the rest of the pub have heard the news. Dan and Charity grill Rachel about who the father is, which results in her leaving upset. David follows and Ali is therefore convinced he is the father. Soon afterwards, Jai finds Rachel in the factory and explains that he is worried Ali will find out the truth. However, Rachel is furious with Jai for only thinking about himself and decides that he should have nothing more to do with her baby…

Meanwhile, Zak and Lisa's 14 years of marriage look to be over when Zak explains that he is going to Ireland sooner rather than later. Belle is glum, but accepts that her parents shouldn't be together just for her. Lisa is too upset to speak when Belle reveals that her dad knows Lisa doesn't love him anymore. Later, Charity is flabbergasted when Lisa reluctantly says that she and Zak are separating. At the same time, Zak tells Megan about him and Lisa. Megan calls Zak a fool and suggests that, if he loves Lisa, he should fight for her.

Elsewhere, Kerry feels left out as Val muscles her way back into Pollard's barn, while Megan questions Declan about washing his hands of Robbie - convinced Katie has something to do with it.

    Tuesday

Ali is worried about Rachel, aware that everyone knows about her pregnancy. She takes Rachel's phone, determined to discover who the father is, but Rachel catches her and storms out. Soon afterwards, David is sympathetic towards Rachel at the café. This leaves Ali convinced that David is the father, so she later rages at him in The Woolpack in front of everyone. However, David is confused as to what Ali is talking about.

Later in the factory, Jai pleads with Rachel, promising that he won't let her down again. However, Charity arrives before he has time to justify his argument. Charity warns Rachel that everyone knows David is the father and Ali is threatening him. Rachel is subsequently forced to explain to Ali that David is not the father and she should back off. In the end, Rachel cannot take it anymore and turns to Jai for help. She asks him to get her out of the village, away from all the snooping and the questions…

Meanwhile, Zak feels awful after overhearing Belle and Sam talking about his and Lisa's relationship. Zak asks Sam to make himself scarce, as he wants to speak to Lisa alone. Later, Lisa is moved as Zak desperately explains that he loves her and cannot lose her. Seeing how upset he is makes her tearful and she agrees to go away with him, determined to fight to save their marriage.

Elsewhere, Robbie threatens Katie when she refuses to ask Declan to give him another chance, while Bob is annoyed by Carl's arrogance when he asks why Chas is with Dan.

    Wednesday

Megan is unimpressed when Declan explains that Katie will accompany her to the meeting while he is in London. When Megan shares this news with Robbie, the schemer deliberately opens a gate to the field where Katie's horses are kept. Just before the meeting, Katie receives a call and has to leave in order to attend to the loose horses.

Although Megan suspects that Robbie had something to do with the setback, she invites him along to the meeting in Katie's place. The pair bond and Megan is impressed with her son, saying that she could get used to having him around. Later, Katie is furious, knowing that Robbie is to blame for letting out the horses. She tells him to leave, but Robbie is adamant that he has as much right to be there as she does.

Meanwhile, Dan worries that he has gone too far to impress Chas after suggesting that he could take part in the 10k fancy dress fun run in the village. Chas is also concerned as Carl mocks Dan. Chas tells Carl that he is jealous because she has found someone she can be happy with, leaving Carl bugged that she can still get to him.

Elsewhere, Ali apologises to David and he makes sure everyone knows he is not the father of Rachel's baby, while Brenda plans to get away from the village for a while after hearing that Val is back at Pollard's.

    Thursday

As the village's fun run begins, Chas is suddenly very aware that Cameron, Carl and Dan are all competing for her attention. Dan struggles as he completes his first lap, while Nikhil and David begin their third. Carl, meanwhile, is livid when Sean trips him up - encouraging his dad to leg it. Cameron completes the race and is straight over to Chas, taunting her about Dan. Chas is stung when Cameron suggests that she is messing with Dan's head, but her attention quickly turns to Dan who has collapsed inches away from the finish line!

Everyone is relieved when Dan comes round and Chas kisses him, well aware that Cameron and Carl are watching. Dan explains to Chas that all he wanted to do was impress her because he loves her. A shocked Chas makes her excuses and returns to work, leaving Dan wishing he hadn't said anything. Later, Cameron seizes his moment to bombard Chas with his feelings, explaining that he loves her and cannot live without her. Chas is stunned.

Meanwhile, Declan is home from his trip to London, and Katie explains her suspicions about Robbie letting the horses loose. Robbie is seething when Declan takes Megan into the office and lays into her about Robbie having no experience. Later, Robbie attempts to talk his way out of trouble, but Declan remains unimpressed. In the end, Robbie declares that he knows he is not welcome at Home Farm. As Robbie leaves, Declan wonders if he's been a bit hasty.

Elsewhere, Rachel is uneasy after seeing the flat in Leeds when Jai explains that she will be moving there in a week or two, while Val is furious when Kerry purposely asks Pollard about the money Val stole from him.

Chas is furious after hearing Cameron's revelation and lays into him over what he's put her through. Cameron is adamant that he loves Chas and wants to be with her, but Chas is strong - demanding that he should return to Debbie. When Cameron insists that Chas shouldn't be with Dan, she loses patience and knees him in the crotch. Later, Chas follows Dan into the pub toilets. Dan fears that she's about to break up with him for coming on so strong, but instead she kisses him and proposes.

Dan is stunned and thinks Chas is joking as they have only been together for a week. As it becomes clear that she is serious, Dan privately confides in Cameron about the situation. Cameron advises Dan that it is too soon for them to marry, but stops when Chas appears. Dan asks Chas if she loves him and is devastated when she cannot confirm that she does. Heartbroken, he explains that he cannot marry someone who doesn't love him.

Meanwhile, Val threatens Kerry, warning that if she continues to mess with her marriage she will tell Amy about her stealing. Later, Amy is close to tears as Val's attempts to make things up with Pollard fail. Amy furiously turns on Kerry, asking if she is pleased with what she's done. It dawns on Kerry that Amy is sincere with her feelings for Val and Pollard. Kerry reminds Amy that she is her family, but Amy snaps that she owes her mum nothing.

Elsewhere, Charity warns Priya to stop chatting up David as Alicia will not take it lightly, Nikhil is miffed that David beat him in the fun run, while Jai is wracked with guilt as he lies to Charity about where he's been.

    Friday

Chas is confused about Dan turning her proposal down and offloads to Priya. At the same time, Dan despairs as Nikhil, Gennie and Bob discover that Chas proposed to him. He explains that he cannot marry someone just because they like him. Soon afterwards, Bob tells Chas that she needs to make up her mind as to whether she loves Dan or not.

Later, a downbeat Dan tells Chas that he is going away for a while. However, Chas surprises herself and blurts out that she loves Dan before hurrying away. As the day continues, Dan proposes to Chas in front of the whole pub and she accepts. Everyone in the pub is shocked and Chas beams as happy tears stream down her face. Carl is surprised by his jealousy, while Chas watches as Cameron stares in disbelief. She is convinced that she has made the right decision.

Meanwhile, Priya continues to flirt with David, insisting that he should take her running. Gennie and Nikhil watch them in disbelief. Later, David is caught when Nikhil sees what is going on, and Priya is awkward as Nikhil asks about Alicia. Later, David arrives home to find that Priya has let herself in. Suddenly the penny drops and David realises she is flirting with him. He is tempted and they get close but he stops, explaining that everything is too complicated. Priya takes it lightly and warns him that it's only a matter of time before something happens between them.

Elsewhere, Gennie feels ignored by Charity but feels obliged when she asks her to look after Noah, while Laurel wishes she and Marlon didn't have to keep their relationship a secret as she dreads giving Ashley false hope.
