EastEnders killer Ben Mitchell finally reaches breaking point later this month as he tells half-brother Ian Beale the shocking truth about Heather Trott's death.

Ben (Joshua Pascoe) is given reason to worry in the coming days when he wrongly thinks that Shirley has overheard a heated conversation between him and Phil regarding Heather's murder.

The guilty pair are shocked to see Shirley listening nearby following their row, so Phil ushers Ben away while he tries to work out how much his ex-partner has heard.

As a nervous Phil speaks to Shirley, the police pass them and ask if everything is okay. Phil assures them that all is fine, but watching from afar, Ben panics when he sees Phil talking to the police.

Fearing that his dad is about to turn him in, Ben rushes round to see Ian (Adam Woodyatt) because he's desperate for help. Ian is worried as Ben rambles on in a manic state, but he's soon left stunned when the teenager suddenly reveals that he killed Heather. What will Ian do?

    Monday

With Phil back on the booze, Ben becomes fearful that his father could spill their dark secret in his drunken state. Despite Ben's best efforts to keep Phil at home, the hardman heads out to the R&R and tries to break in. When Ben tracks him down, Phil lays into his son, complaining about the trouble that Heather's murder has caused and declaring that he wishes Ben had never been born. The guilty pair are then shocked to see Shirley listening nearby. Phil ushers Ben away while he tries to work out how much Shirley has heard.

A seemingly livid Shirley immediately orders Phil back to her flat to talk, just as the police pass them and ask if everything is okay. Phil assures them that all is fine, but watching from afar, Ben panics when he sees Phil speak to the police. Fearing that his dad is about to turn him in, Ben rushes round to see Ian, who has recently become paranoid that Phil and Mandy are having an affair. As Ben rambles, Ian wonders if his suspicions are about to be confirmed by the erratic teenager - but he's stunned when Ben instead confesses that he killed Heather…

Meanwhile, Derek is celebrating following Alice's decision to meet the family, and he arranges for a party to be held at Max's place. With the planning under way, Derek pops back home for a moment and spots a suspicious car outside. To Derek's dismay, a police officer emerges from the vehicle and announces that he has a warrant to search the house, which contains the villain's stash of illegal booze. With Derek otherwise engaged, Alice turns up at the Branning house across the Square...

Elsewhere, Jay concerns Abi as he starts to babble incoherently about Heather's death after drinking a bottle of lager and taking some of Cora's hay fever remedy, while Kim dresses up in a sexy army outfit for some fun in the bedroom - but her plan fails when an unsuspecting Ray turns up with his daughter Sasha.

    Tuesday

Ben follows Ian to the allotments as he struggles to comprehend the teenager's shocking confession. What will Ian do?

At the same time, Phil is hugely relieved when he realises that Shirley didn't hear the truth about Heather's murder - she was just angry to see him behaving so nastily towards his son. The pair then have a heart-to-heart, and the ice between them begins to melt as Phil admits that he truly loves Shirley. Phil also comforts Shirley as she cries over the death of her best friend. With their relationship back on track, Shirley heads back to the Mitchell house with Phil.

Meanwhile, everyone is still awaiting Derek's arrival at the Branning house. Cora, Jack and Dot all sing Derek's praises in front of Alice, but she can see that Tanya isn't so keen and questions her about this. Tanya decides that Alice should know the truth about her father and takes her for a private chat in the kitchen. Soon afterwards, Alice makes a sharp exit from the house after hearing all about Derek's dark past.

Having finally got rid of the police without them finding his booze stash, Derek is devastated to see Alice leaving in a cab. He tries to stop her, but it's without success.

Elsewhere, Jay appears to have had a lucky escape as his babbling hasn't aroused any suspicion, while Kim tries to avoid Ray and later leaves him devastated by admitting that while she's interested in him, she can't handle his kid.

    Wednesday
As Ian's life crumbles around him, he is forced to make a shocking decision about his future.

Meanwhile, Phil is keen for Jay to return home, so he pays him a visit and explains that everything is back to normal now that Shirley is back. However, although Jay is tempted, he rejects the offer. Later, though, Jay realises that he's missing his family when he spots the Mitchells heading to the Argee Bhajee for dinner. To Phil's delight, Jay decides to join them.

Elsewhere, Shirley remains concerned for Dot when she pops round and discovers that the Walford favourite hasn't even bothered to get dressed yet. Shirley teams up with Cora, Patrick and Rose to help Dot out of her dark mood, but it's no use. Later, Ian gives Dot food for thought by suggesting that she should take some time out from Walford. Although she's reluctant to leave Jim, Dot accepts that she needs a change and decides to go away to visit Dotty.

Also today, Michael books an appointment for Janine at a 3D scan clinic and they find out the sex of their baby, which prompts Janine to agree that the wedding is back on, while Kim decides to show Sasha where Heather was murdered after hearing that she wants to be a forensic scientist - but her gruesome tales leave the youngster terrified.

EastEnders' Branning clan gathers together to welcome Derek's daughter Alice into the fold next week.

Derek (Jamie Foreman) has a rocky start with Alice (Jasmyn Banks) when she turns up to see him in the coming days, but he's thrilled when she eventually agrees to meet the rest of the family.

Viewers will see Derek going all-out to win round his daughter, even arranging for a party to be held at Max's place to make her feel welcome.

However, as Alice arrives, a spot of bad luck leaves Derek otherwise engaged as the police turn up over at the Butcher house with a search warrant.

As Derek is left worrying about whether his latest stash of dodgy booze is about to be discovered, Alice is overwhelmed by the usual chaos and bickering between the rest of the Brannings.

Cora, Jack and Dot all try to help out by singing Derek's praises in front of Alice, but she can see that Tanya (Jo Joyner) isn't so keen and asks her for an explanation.

Tanya then decides that Alice should know the truth about her father and takes her for a private chat in the kitchen.

Soon afterwards, Derek finally arrives just in time to see Alice making a sharp exit from the house and leaving in a cab. What has Tanya told her? And has Derek blown things with his daughter?
