Ben is struggling to cope with George's presence at the Mitchell house, as the youngster is still proving to be a constant reminder of Heather. Phil reckons that having a distraction for Shirley isn't a bad thing at the moment, but he starts to change his mind when Ben breaks down. He then speaks to Tamwar about the situation, frustrated that they haven't been able to contact Darren.

Later, Phil has other issues on his mind when Billy explains how Derek has managed to get his feet well and truly under the table in recent weeks. Phil takes action by turning up at R&R and informing Derek that his services are no longer required. Refusing to give up on his interfering ways, Derek soon finds Ben alone on the Square and questions the teenager about his new-found truce with Phil. Before Ben can say anything, Phil appears and warns Derek to stay away from his son and his businesses. It seems that there could be a fresh battle looming for Phil and Derek…

Meanwhile, Lucy arrives home to find Mandy packing up the rest of her belongings. Mandy seems sad about her split from Ian, but Lucy is pleased and spitefully offers her some money for the bus. Later, when Ian hears that Mandy has paid a visit, he rushes off to find her. Catching Mandy at the bus stop, Ian apologises for his behaviour last week, before getting down on one knee and offering the engagement ring she left behind. The businessman is pleased when Mandy eventually promises to stand by him and returns home. However, Ian is later devastated when he fails to perform in bed, leading Mandy to question whether it's her fault.

Elsewhere, Kim's bickering with Ray puts off customers at The Vic when she lands a waitressing job there, Alfie starts to reconsider his dealings with Derek now that Phil is back on the Square, while Jack and Denise clash when she poaches his builder for a bigger job at the B&B.

    Tuesday

Albert Square's girls-only book club has been reinstated following a suggestion from Denise, who wants to raise community spirit following Heather's murder. An outcast Mandy and Roxy decide to turn up for the gathering and are welcomed into the fold by Tanya, even though Bianca and Zainab disapprove. Soon afterwards, Roxy puts her foot in it by making a comment about the pressure that Tanya's cancer had on her relationship with Max - leaving Cora suspicious over how she'd know about this.

Later, when Max returns home, Cora confronts him about Roxy's comment. Max then calls Roxy back to the house to explain the situation, and Roxy decides to prevent any more unnecessary pain by taking full responsibility - admitting that she came onto Max but he stayed faithful. However, Cora struggles to believe that Max was entirely innocent and warns him to never stop being grateful that Tanya is still alive. Soon afterwards, Roxy has a heart-to-heart with Alfie, tearfully confessing that she had a near-affair with an unavailable man. As Alfie comforts her, Roxy realises that the right guy has been there for her all along - she's in love with Alfie…

Meanwhile, Derek organises another poker night for the men of the Square. Phil turns up as a surprise guest and as the game plays out, he and Derek end up being the last men standing. Phil emerges as the winner, but Derek tries not to seem too bothered - insisting that it's impossible to win all the time, you just have to pick the right battles.

Elsewhere, Ian is embarrassed when his problem becomes public knowledge, while Alfie agrees to take on another job for Derek.

    Thursday

Derek informs Alfie of his plans for another scam, plotting to steal £12,000 worth of alcohol from Trevor the drayman when his back is turned. Alfie decides to go along with the idea as times are so tough financially, but he's given food for thought when Billy questions why he doesn't have a plan of his own.

Later, Alfie and Derek arrive at the planned destination to get the booze, but Trevor declares that he's just been robbed at gunpoint. Derek assumes that Phil Mitchell must be responsible, vowing to make him pay for this as he's gone too far this time. Soon afterwards, however, Alfie secretly meets with Billy and Trevor. Alfie congratulates Trevor for pulling a blinder and hands him a wad of cash, expressing delight that they've just managed to scam Derek. Alfie then tells Billy that he doesn't care if Derek suspects Phil is responsible, as long as they're not caught themselves.

Meanwhile, Kim is dressed to impress when she turns up for another shift at The Vic. This time, her first job is to fillet a bucket-load of fish. Soon afterwards, Kim gets upset when she overhears Ray flirting with Bianca - and her jealousy starts to affect her filleting abilities! When Ray tries to help Kim out, she accidentally slices the top of his finger off and they have to go to hospital. While there, Ray confesses his feelings for Kim and pulls her in for a passionate kiss when she shows her insecure side. Is a full-blown romance on the cards for the pair?

Elsewhere, a hard-up Bianca digs herself in deeper when she is forced to take out another loan as she refuses to see her kids go hungry, Dot's grief for Heather pours out when Reverend Stevens pays her a visit, while Ian tells Lucy that getting the café back would provide the excitement that's missing from his life.

    Friday

Andrew tries to approach Shirley and George when he spots them on the Square, but he's left distraught when Shirley brands him a murderer. Returning home, Shirley busies herself with Heather's funeral arrangements and a guilty Phil offers to finance the whole thing after hearing that it will cost £4,000. Soon afterwards, Ben is relieved when Phil gets in touch with Darren and asks him to return to England immediately. Shirley then gets a phone call from the social worker, who confirms that Darren wants his child back in light of recent events.

Later, Shirley discusses the funeral with Dot, but gets upset when she can't remember which George Michael song Heather would have wanted. Dot then speaks to Andrew at the launderette and is moved when he explains that 'You Have Been Loved' was the song Heather wanted. As Andrew continues to speak about how much he cared for Heather, Dot starts to doubt whether he was the killer. However, when Shirley spots Dot and Andrew talking, she bans them both from the funeral…

Meanwhile, Alfie fears the worst when he learns that Billy has told feisty Lola about their successful scam. However, when Derek accuses Billy of being involved, Lola sticks with the schemers' cover story - claiming that Billy was at the hospital with her the whole time. Unhappy over his setback, Derek realises that he can't run the Square from Jack's sofa. However, when Derek asks Bianca whether he can move into Pat's old room, she adamantly refuses - declaring that Pat would turn in her grave if he moved in.

Elsewhere, Jack and Denise are horrified to discover that they've been set up on a blind date together by Zainab and Tanya, while Roxy continues to act smitten with Alfie - but he's preoccupied by thoughts of Kat.
