'Hollyoaks' best bits special to air on E4

Hollyoaks will celebrate its most memorable moments of the year in an E4 special next month, it has been revealed.

An hour-long retrospective to be screened at Christmas will look back at the best bits of 2011 and offer a sneak peek at 2012, Broadcast reports.

The show was ordered by Channel 4's drama commissioning editors Roberto Troni and Marianne Buckland, and will be executive produced by Tony Wood, Carolyn Reynolds and Emma Smithwick.

Hollyoaks' major storylines of the year have included serial killer Silas Blissett's reign of terror, Jacqui and Gilly's rape storyline and Mercedes McQueen's eventful wedding day.

Meanwhile, The Hollyoaks Music Show will also return to Channel 4 next month for an hour-long Christmas special.

More details on both shows are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

This sounds quite a fun programme. Eastenders and Coronation Street should have a most memorable moments of the year programme.

Hollyoaks bosses have today confirmed the airdate and time for the upcoming 'Best Bits' special which screens on E4 later this month.

As revealed last week, the soap will celebrate its most memorable moments of the year with an hour-long retrospective in late December.

It has now been announced that the programme will air on Friday, December 23 at 9pm on E4.

Will Best and former Hollyoaks star Alex Carter (Lee Hunter) will present the special.

A Hollyoaks statement said: "This special one-off E4 show will take a cheeky look back at the sexiest, funniest, biggest, bestest moments from a phenomenal year in Hollyoaks. Cast and crew share their Best Bits and the Hollyoaks fans get in on the act by making bits of the show at home."

In preparation for the special, Hollyoaks is currently inviting nominations for three awards - 'Hollyoaks Hero', 'Most Villainous Villain' and 'OMG Moment Of The Year' - over on the official website.
