We've all been wondering what brings Warren Fox's son Joel Dexter back to Hollyoaks - and the answer is a real surprise.

It turns out that newcomer Ryan Knight already knows Joel and he'll be the one responsible for luring him back to the village next month.

Joel's first scenes back in Hollyoaks will air in the show's upcoming Point Of View Week, which explores one day from the perspective of different characters in the Patrick Blake murder case.

When Ryan launches a bid to get information from Warren which could help to solve the mystery, he tells his colleagues at the police station that he has a secret link to the bad boy's past.

That link is none other than Scottish Foxy himself, but will Ryan really be able to use Joel to entice information out of Warren?

A Hollyoaks insider told Digital Spy: "Joel hasn't always been the greatest of guys in the past, so it definitely leaves food for thought over the nature of Ryan's connection to him."

Blue's Duncan James, who plays Ryan, is already hinting at a darker side to his character - so is this another clue that he isn't all he seems? As always with Hollyoaks, we'll have to wait and see.

Hollyoaks announced last week that they'd recast the role of Joel, with Rory Douglas-Speed taking over from previous actor Andrew Still.

With Joel now a trainee priest, he's a world away from the troubled character we knew before – and Warren will be desperate to make amends with his son despite their previous animosity.

Hollyoaks newbie Rory Douglas Speed has shared some gossip on what we can expect from Warren's returning son Joel Dexter – but could he be the victim of Sienna Blake's revenge plan?

Show bosses have recast the role of 'Scottish Foxy', with Rory taking over the part from previous cast member Andrew Still. And we've already seen him make a brief appearance.

But priest Joel will be back with a bang next week as he comes face to face Sienna at church, unaware that she's out for revenge.

Sienna wants to make her former lover Warren pay for not saving her daughter Nico in the Halloween inferno, and she's taking no prisoners this time.

"He has no idea who Sienna is, but I think she knows who she's talking to", Rory said to Inside Soap.

"She gives a false name and tells Joel that she wants revenge on the guy who left her daughter to die – but he doesn't know she's talking about Warren."

While fans may have been surprised by Joel's huge change in vocation and lifestyle, Rory has said the surprises will keep coming, promising a "very different" character to the one we saw before.

"I think he is a good guy and hopefully that will come across, because he does his best for Sienna," he added.

"He's a very different person from how people will remember him a few years ago. Religion has given Joel a new outlook, and even he's made some poor decisions, he thinks he can change his ways."
