FORMER Hollyoaks hunk Ricky Whittle has hit the big time and landed a plum role in a major Hollywood film.
The actor, 29, is to star alongside Jane Seymour, JJ Fields and American Pie actress Jennifer Coolidge in Austenland.
The big budget film is based on the US best-seller of the same name, about a singleton who is obsessed with Jane Austen and determined to find her real-life Mr Darcy.
Ricky, who came second in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009, plays potential suitor Captain George East.
The movie is being filmed in Britain and Los Angeles.
A source said: "It's Ricky's dream to crack America and he's perfect for this.
"He isn't the romantic lead but it's the perfect part to get him noticed.
"He loved Hollyoaks, but he's never made a secret of his love of films."
Ricky, who left Hollyoaks last summer, is already working on the film, due to be released next year.
