Emmerdale newcomer Kelli Hollis wants Ali and Ruby to get married and have a soap wedding.
Kelli plays Ali Spencer, Rachel Breckle's younger sister, who wants to start a new life with her lover Ruby Haswell (Alicya Eyo) and her two teenage children, after leaving her husband.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "Me and Alicya would love to do that. We wouldn't want to do it just because we play lesbians though.
"Gender is irrelevant - this would be two people who love each other."
Kelli added she can't see Ali and Ruby both wearing over-the-top dresses like teen lesbians Sophie and Sacha did in Coronation Street though.
She said: "Corrie did it one way, but our characters wouldn't want a big gay wedding. I think they'd both go low-key

Emmerdale star Alicya Eyo has hinted that she would like to explore a parenthood storyline for her character Ruby Haswell.

Ruby, who joined the village a year ago, is already helping to raise her partner Ali Spencer's two children Sean and Amelia in the ITV1 show.

In a new interview with the Liverpool Echo, Eyo confirmed that she recently renewed her Emmerdale contract and is looking forward to seeing what is next for Ruby.

Eyo commented: "Coming into Emmerdale was daunting, really scary - like starting a new school - but I was so excited too. It's a dream job. Everyone's really welcoming.

"And the character is great. Ruby takes people as she sees them and expects others to do the same. She has taken on a ready made family and all that entails, and she's got to know the kids really well and been there for them.

"It's really exciting to see what happens now - maybe they will go on to have a child themselves, I don't know, but that would be a cool storyline."

The 36-year-old also expressed her excitement ahead of Emmerdale's first ever live episode this evening (October 17).

She said: "It's electric, everybody's on it. I feel so lucky to be a part of it. There's a great sense of camaraderie and everyone bonding - stuff like this brings people together. The whole week is explosive, but tonight so much can go wrong."

Emmerdale Live airs tonight from 7pm on ITV1.

Emmerdale waitress Ruby Haswell faces a tough time next week as her mother Lindy presents her with a shock ultimatum.

When Ruby tells her mum about her sexuality and baby plans for the first time, Lindy promises to give her the money for the baby if she does it without her partner Ali Spencer.

As Ruby considers the situation at The Woolpack, killer Cameron Murray enters the pub armed with a gun…

Here, Alicya Eyo - who plays Ruby - previews her character's involvement in Emmerdale's big week.

Ruby will be one of the characters who is taken hostage next week. What can you tell us about the scenes?
"It's the night of Priya's hen do. It's a sad affair, but it's a hen do nevertheless. Ruby's having one quiet drink but it turns into an absolute nightmare. Ruby's not very happy as she's been through a bit of heartbreak, so it is all rather a shock what happens next."

    Why is Ruby so unhappy?
"Ruby is in a weird place as her mum has given her an ultimatum regarding Ali and the baby. She has some thinking to do and reckons she can't do this at home, so she decides to leave for a bit to get her head together.

"Sean isn't having any of this, though, and steps in to make Ruby realise that she can't just walk out on this situation, so she ends up in The Woolpack to meet up with her mum Lindy."

    What happens next?
"There is torrential rain outside like you've never seen before. It starts flooding the village and people have to get sandbags out and start protecting their properties. Chas locks the doors of the pub as she's heard Cameron is out there, but suddenly Cameron appears with a gun."

So what were the scenes like to film?
"Oh my goodness, we've been filming it this week and I still feel traumatised like I've been through an ordeal. Dominic is incredible as Cameron. He's like we've never seen him before - all the things we thought Cameron wasn't capable of, he absolutely is! He switches from being completely calm and in control, and then at the slightest thing he's screaming and shouting with guns in our faces."

"Filming the scenes was awesome. We had a really good and intense time. The lighting is moody, there's rain outside, it was easy to get into and a great experience."

Were you excited when you first read the scripts?
"When I realised it's the anniversary of last year's live episode, I thought it was very apt. It really is as exciting as the live episode. It's been great to be part of it."

    Cameron arrives in The Woolpack.

Was there a sense of bonding among the actors involved?
"Yes. With three 12-hour days, it really did feel like we were hostages! It was a frightening ordeal, and as everyone was performing well, the mood was kept through right to the end. It was very draining but intense and rewarding. I was exhausted! Putting your body through fear, shock, anger and sadness - the whole thing was draining but exhilarating at the same time."

It's been confirmed that one character will be shot in these scenes.
"Yes, one of the really popular characters gets shot! People are going to be shocked and appalled…"

Emmerdale's Ruby Haswell is left devastated next week as she suffers a miscarriage just days after discovering that she was pregnant.

Ruby is rushed to hospital with agonising pains shortly after she and partner Ali Spencer (Kelli Hollis) have told Sean and Amelia that their family is being extended.

Here, Alicya Eyo - who plays Ruby - reveals how her character copes with the heartbreaking experience.

How does Ruby feel once she discovers that she's pregnant?
"They've been trying for a while and Ruby was a bit concerned about whether it was going to happen or not, so when it does, she's absolutely over the moon and elated. It's something she's really wanted since being part of the Spencer family."

Why has it been so important for Ruby to have a baby?
"Ruby and Ali are so committed as a couple. Ruby's never been a family girl - she's always been quite independent and done her own thing, but since being with the Spencer family and moving to the village, it's been quite intense and she's really gotten into that. She loves it because it's something she's never had before.

"Ruby having a baby of her own is about consolidating the family even more in her mind - she thinks it'll make the family even stronger."

How does Ruby feel about Dan being the father?
"It's perfect, actually! It's quite expensive for lesbian couples to have children, because they're not eligible for IVF and all that kind of thing. With Dan being in the equation, it makes absolute sense to Ruby. Also, for Sean and Amelia to have a blood sibling is absolutely perfect."

Ruby and Ali initially try to keep it quiet, so how does Ruby react when Kerry blabs the news at the factory?
"I suppose it was kind of expected, wasn't it really, with Kerry being Kerry?! At first Ruby is a bit put out, but she thinks they're all going to know at some point anyway, so it maybe takes the pressure off a little bit once the news is all round the village. People are just really happy and supportive for Ruby and Ali, so it's fine."

Is Ruby worried about telling Sean and Amelia about the pregnancy?
"It's just about getting the right moment. Ruby wouldn't want them to hear it from anyone else first - it's really important that it's a one-on-one discussion at home.

"When they do tell the kids, it's so cute. Amelia is over the moon because she's going to have a little sister to play with, and Sean is secretly really pleased. Obviously Sean's a 15-year-old boy so he's not going to let that much show, but he's really happy."

Does Ruby panic when she suddenly starts experiencing pains next week?
"Yeah, I think deep down she knows that it's not normal and that freaks her out. In her mind it's not necessarily about losing the baby, but she just knows something is going wrong. It's still really early days into the pregnancy when this happens."

How does Ruby cope when she loses the baby?
"She's absolutely devastated. It's something that Ruby set her heart on, and the whole family were on board too. It's her devastation but then there's also the fallout of what it does to the family. The kids are really sad too as they'd fallen in love with the idea. Sean and Amelia both had different ideas of what a sibling would mean, but it meant a lot to them. For it to be taken away is really sad."

Will Ruby want to try for a baby again?
"With Ruby being Ruby, she doesn't let things stand in the way in her life. At some point, she's going to get up and go, 'Right, let's start again'."

    Is Ali supportive?
"So supportive - she's an absolute rock to Ruby, she really is. They've been through a lot as a couple already so I think this will definitely make them even stronger."

Is Dan still prepared to help in the future?
"He's Super Dan - of course he is! He's just a lovely guy and he really wants the best for Ali and Ruby. It took a lot for him to come to terms with them even being together, but they're totally a family now. Dan is well on board."

Would you like to go through a full pregnancy as Ruby at some point?
"Yeah, I think I'd get used to the fake baby bump really quickly and cry when it was taken away! (Laughs.) I also think Ruby would be a really good mum. She's coped well with Sean and Amelia, so that's really spurred her on to realise that she can be a good parent. Working with babies on set would also be lovely."

Have you had much feedback over the baby storyline?
"I've had a couple of letters from people saying they really hope it happens for Ruby. I've also had lots of tweets and messages saying, 'We'll help you have a baby!' from certain men! Not in a sick way - in a generous way! (Laughs.)

"Also from the older folk who watch Emmerdale and always have - I didn't know what reaction I'd get from them, but I'll be in the aisle at Asda and they'll say, 'We hope you get that baby, girl!' They're all really excited about it, so that's really nice."

Ali Spencer resorts to drastic measures next week in order to fund her quest for a baby with Ruby Haswell.

Sensing how desperate Ruby (Alicya Eyo) is to become a mum, Ali steals William Makepeace's savings during a visit to his home.

Here, Kelli Hollis - who plays Ali - reveals why her character makes such a big error of judgement.

How are Ali and Ruby currently feeling about the baby situation?
"Since Ruby had the ectopic pregnancy, it's kicked things up a gear. That's understandable, because it's just made Ali and Ruby more determined. I think in situations like these, you become more determined when more obstacles are put in your way. There's definitely been a few obstacles so far and Ruby is getting borderline desperate now. Ali is also getting desperate for her."

Ali and Ruby try to get some money together to make their dream a reality, but the bank turns them down for a loan. How do they react?
"They're disappointed. Ali thinks that she has messed up in the meeting with the bank. She would have preferred not to do it as a face-to-face meeting with the bank, as she thinks that it's probably the way she came across which meant they didn't get it. That makes Ali feel really bad about the situation, and that leads up to why she does this stupid thing later in the week."

Ruby considers a payday loan, doesn't she?
"Yes, Ali feels really bad about them not getting a normal bank loan, but then when she sees that Ruby is going for one of these ridiculous payday loans with extortionate interest, she's angry. This would affect the whole family and Ali knows that putting them into debt isn't the best solution.

"Ali isn't the brightest financially, but she definitely knows that it's not a viable option. Once she realises what lengths Ruby is willing to go to, it affects her own behaviour."

Does Ali get angry with Ruby?
"Yeah, she feels really bad afterwards, but she's angry due to the shock of it. Ali thinks Ruby is the sensible one, so there's usually no way that she'd let the family go for one of those ridiculous loans for any reason. It flashes up how desperate Ruby is getting."

Ruby also starts to find it difficult to be around Seb's pregnant girlfriend. Does Ali realise that?
"Well, Ruby is struggling but she's pretending that she's not. Ali does realise because she flags it up a couple of times, and Ruby gets quite defensive. Ruby blows her off first, but Ali knows her better. Ali is fully aware of how Ruby feels but Ruby is trying to play it down a little bit."

How desperate is Ali when she steals the money?
"It's more of a spur of the moment thing. Given a little bit of time and thought, Ali probably wouldn't have done it, but there's been a build-up of things after the knock-back with the bank. Ali is worried about what Ruby is going to do next, so it's more of an opportunist thing and then we see Ali's regret afterwards."

What happens when they take the money back?
"Ruby takes the blame. She thinks that it's probably the best move, but she doesn't discuss it with Ali beforehand. When they both get there, Ruby takes the money and makes out to Seb that she was the one who took it."

    How does Seb react?
"He's quite cool and quite calm, because he and Ruby have known each other a long time. Seb feels more disappointment than anger, but that's probably more crushing for Ruby because she is a good person and she wouldn't dream of doing something like that."

Elsewhere in the village, Dan has decided that he wants to pull out of helping Ali and Ruby have a baby. What will this mean for them?
"I think it's another blow that happens in a long line for Ruby. All of these things literally happen within a few days. Ali understands and is trying to be as supportive as she can, but it's hard when you can see that Ruby is getting knocked from pillar to post.

"Once they return the money to Seb they think, 'Well we've still got Dan' and all of their hopes are pinned on him. When he says that he's pulling out, it's the final crush."

Will they try to talk him round?
"They've got no choice really, but with the sex ban they've put him on, they've got to get through Kerry and she's very mardy if she's not getting any! Ali and Ruby making Dan's life a misery and now Kerry's too probably wasn't what Dan had planned!

"I love the character of Dan and I think he's so ace. He's got this harem of women at the moment and is like the king of Emmerdale. We call him the Hugh Hefner of Emmerdale!"

What lengths will Ali go to as she tries to help Ruby have a baby?
"I think now they've hit all these brick walls, they've realised that Ali is just as determined as Ruby is. It's easy for Ruby to see that and they're still on the same page. They both know that they want exactly the same things, but they've just got to go back to basics and start being sensible about it. They need to realise that it's not going to happen overnight."

As Kelli, do you want Ruby and Ali to have a baby?
"I'd love them to have a baby. I love working with babies - I miss little baby Archie!"
