in Emmerdale, the animosity between Chas Dingle and Eve Jenson is about to rear its ugly head once again.

When Diane is short-staffed at The Woolpack, she agrees to let Eve work a shift - but Chas is furious to see her arch-nemesis behind the bar.

Soon afterwards, Charity watches on in amusement as the fiery brunette gives Eve a big shove - but Chas is forced to back off when Edna enters the pub.

With the tension simmering, Eve has some surprising news up her sleeve and she declares to everyone that she's decided to leave the village. Edna is stunned by the revelation and tries to convince her to stay, but she soon realises that Eve has made up her mind and there's an emotional farewell ahead for the pair.

1st August

Leyla offers to drop Jacob at his friends' party. However, she lies to David about shopping for bridesmaid dresses with Gennie and takes Jacob into Leeds instead, telling him they're going on an adventure.

Later, David worries she's run off with Jacob when he sees Gennie and realises Leyla is ignoring his calls…

Meanwhile, Rachel visits Sam to apologise for getting the wrong end of the stick about Samson hitting Amelia and invites them to the park. Sam refuses but shows up later and the four of them have a nice time in the café, with Rachel glad they're talking again.

Elsewhere, Aaron is in turmoil and Chas is determined to help her son; Eve's thoughtful when Alicia tells her about moving to Spain; Amy lies to Victoria about her involvement in the burglary, but Victoria suspects Amy is not being honest.

2nd August

As she is short-staffed, Diane agrees to let Eve work a shift. However, Chas is furious when she sees her behind the bar and Charity is amused as Chas gives Eve a big shove. Chas is forced to back off when Edna enters, but Eve continues to wind Chas up and tells her she's going to Mexico to stay with Scarlett. Edna is shocked to hear the news.

Later at the cottage, Edna tries to persuade her to stay, but is saddened to see Eve has made up her mind and hugs her as she leaves.

Meanwhile, still with Jacob, Leyla continues to ignore David's calls. David tries to keep perspective, but Alicia worries and heads out to look for them. Leyla eventually answers and David tries to talk sense into her, but is concerned when she tells him things would be simpler if Jacob knew the truth about her being his real mum. She then hangs up, leaving David horrified that Leyla is about to do the unthinkable and tell Jacob the truth.

Elsewhere, when Amy tells Zak the truth about Jared, he warns her that she must face up to him before it gets out of hand; Pollard and Val are disappointed to learn they will not be able to get any insurance pay-out as Pollard didn't have receipts for the jewellery; Cameron tries to put Debbie's mind at rest as she worries about what's wrong with Sarah; while Charity hints to Chas about her plan to land Nikhil in it while she and Jai are away.

3rd August

Away at a B&B, Leyla tells Jacob that he can't phone his mum, but he secretly takes her phone and hides it in his pocket. Back at the village, Pollard thinks David should call the police but David refuses to involve them yet, holding faith that Leyla won't take it too far.

Out of the blue, Alicia gets a text and realises where Leyla and Jacob are. David heads off to find them, telling Alicia to wait in Emmerdale. At the same time, Jacob is confused by Leyla as she talks to him. Will she betray her sister by confessing the truth - that she is Jacob's real mum?


Later, David tracks them down and watches from a distance. As he approaches, Leyla is shocked to see him and lies about what she's told Jacob. Furious, he insists they head back to the village. When they arrive back, Alicia slaps Leyla across the face and Leyla is left heartbroken when David won't speak to her either. Has she lost the pair of them?

Meanwhile, Charity stirs up trouble at the factory by trying to land Nikhil in it, causing potential havoc. Charity slyly increases the orders on the computer then manages to stir things among the workers in the pub before heading off for her holiday. At the same time, Jai asks Nikhil for a progress report every day while he's away.

Elsewhere, Zak continues to advise Amy as she considers whether to confess the truth about the burglary.

4th August

Alicia's concerned about how quiet Jacob is after disappearing to Leeds with Leyla, but the youngster clams up when Alicia tries to question him about it.

To ease the atmosphere, Andy takes Jacob for a kick-about. While they're out, Andy's concerned to hear from Jacob about what happened. Later, Alicia storms into the shop and pushes Leyla up against the shelves - revealing the truth about what happened to Jacob.

Soon afterwards, David gives Leyla an ultimatum - either she gives up on Jacob or they're finished. Leyla is shocked by David's demand and faces a heartbreaking choice…

Meanwhile, Sandy nods off to sleep while babysitting for Samson, Gabby and Arthur. Ashley is angry to return home to mayhem and Sandy sporting a painted-on green moustache and beard.

Elsewhere, Bob tries to cheer Hazel up by taking her out for the afternoon with the twins.

Leyla is forced to make her impossible decision and choose whether her future is with or without David.

Meanwhile, Laurel's miffed when she organises to go to Scarborough with Ashley but he has other plans to run a kids' club for the week. She reluctantly agrees to help out on the condition that Ashley apologises to Sandy. Ashley and Marlon persuade Sam to take Samson to the kids' club, but Ashley wonders how Marlon knew of Laurel's plan to go away.

Elsewhere, Bob tries to cheer Hazel up and takes her a bottle of wine, but she continues to worry about Aaron.

Also, Debbie tries to hide her worry after Sarah's doctor's appointment as they play happy families with Cameron.


5th August


Leyla is torn but stands by her decision and faces David, Jacob and Alicia, causing heartbreak and destruction.

Meanwhile, Pollard and Laurel have to escort Sandy out of the pub when he gets drunk and embarrasses himself. He's hurt when Ashley snaps at him back at home, telling him it's like having another child in the house.

Elsewhere, Hazel tries to help Aaron.
