Carly.. I found that you would rather clean your room than do your college assignments.. and then do it all last minute.. Best to take yourself out of the house, go to a library or a cafe and work on them there

Shiv's right Carly. I spent three years at college and hated doing college work at home. Better to stay at college and study in your free time between classes. If you are doing any studying at home turn the tv off so you don't have any distractions maybe set a side one or two hours to do the studying at a time.

I find going to library helps, as does working with friends. They don't need to be doing the same assignment as you but having somebody to 'compete' with and stop you from wandering onto Facebook helps.

Other than that, you just have to force yourself to do it. Set a limit every day and do something enjoyable afterwards.

I might need to try and go to library at dinner or do work at home when my dad hasn't got the tv on

I always did mine in my room to avoid TV noise downstairs. Unplug electrical appliances so you can't be bothered to plug them in and will get the work done. Turning off my mobile helped too, it was surprising how long I could spend texting and not working.

Has it made you smarter than your friends who don't listen to classical music in the background?

I suppose it makes me feel better in a way to make me think I'm doing something to make myself smarter. Helps me to focus on the work. My friends don't listen to classical music, but they are all smarter than me
