The moment that Coronation Street fans have been waiting for finally arrives at the end of this month as Fiz discovers all of John's sinister secrets.

When fresh building work at the factory leaves John worrying that Colin Fishwick's body will be discovered, he's forced to start doing some digging in the building in order to unearth his old foe's remains and move them elsewhere.

In a twist, Fiz stumbles in on his latest shocking act and she's horrified as a cornered John recalls the fateful night of Colin's death. Although deeply disturbed, Fiz fails to contact the police over the matter as she knows that she's up to her neck in it herself.

As the days continue, however, Fiz fears that there's much more going on and realises that John knows the truth behind Chesney's disappearance, so she follows her husband as he pays a visit to the Hoyles'. As John heads down to the cellar at the house, he's stunned to see that his hostages have all freed themselves and panics as Chesney tries to escape.

Wanting to scare Chesney into co-operating, John warns that he's a dangerous man and finally confesses that he killed Charlotte and Joy. At that moment, Fiz appears behind him, having heard everything…

How will Fiz react to the horrible truth about her husband? And what twists could be in store as the Stape saga enters its final act?

    29th May

A terrified Fiz takes in the sight of John with the body. Frantic, he claims that he was doing overtime and found it under the floor, but when Fiz goes to call the police, he snatches the phone from her. As she begs to know what he's done, John confesses all. How will Fiz react?

Meanwhile, when Becky suggests Tracy leaving with Amy may not be such a bad thing as she'd no longer wield such power over them, Steve flips and accuses her of sacrificing Amy for Max. Ordering everyone out of the pub, Steve empties the till and heads to the casino. He's drunk and gambling wildly when Dev finds him.

Having maxed his cards out, Steve's about to gamble everything but Dev steps in. On the edge, Steve unburdens himself, revealing that he's lost everything because of Becky's pursuit for Max. But when Dev insists he can't go on like this, will Steve take action?

Elsewhere, it's the morning after the night before and Graeme's guilt has kicked in. Xin's hurt to see him so horrified about what he's done, but Graeme just needs to see Tina. Will he confess?

    30th May

As John drives to the canal to dump the dead body, Ches and Dorothy tend to a weak Alan in the basement. Back on the street, Fiz is traumatised and breaks down.

John's insistent that they need to get away as soon as possible, but Fiz insists she's going nowhere while Chesney is still missing. John pushes harder, insisting she's as up to her neck in it. Feeling trapped, will Fiz agree?

Meanwhile, as Steve meets his solicitor to discuss custody of Amy and an order to stop Tracy leaving, a social worker calls at the pub. Becky panics until Steve returns and takes charge, claiming Kylie now doesn't live with them but is only across the road and has full access.

The social worker is keen to confirm this with Kylie and as she goes, Becky's hysterical. Will Kylie corroborate their story?

Elsewhere, Xin's still hurting after Graeme's rejection, but as she attempts to put a brave face on, Graeme does his utmost to avoid her.

    31st May

As Fiz and John prepare to run, Katy calls round and reveals that she's going for the abortion today. However, a tortured John declares that he's spoken to Chesney and he wants her to keep the baby. Fiz and Katy are stunned. As they ask where he is, John's evasive but implores her to keep the baby.

John then rushes to the Hoyles', grabbing Chesney and telling him to call Katy now. Insisting he's a murderer, Chesney accuses him of killing Charlotte and Joy. John starts stammering explanations but he's cut short when Fiz appears behind him. Is the game up for John? And will Chesney reach Katy in time to stop her from aborting their baby?

Meanwhile, as the social worker calls on Kylie, Steve and Becky hope that she'll play ball, allowing them to keep Max and disarm Tracy's threat. Kylie backs up their story, but when David walks in, it gets messy.

As the social worker leaves to make her decision, David storms round to the McDonalds', accusing them of bullying Kylie. Determined to shut him up, Steve reveals that Kylie sold Max. How will David react and what will be the verdict from social services?

Elsewhere, Graeme's still holed up at Eileen's. It becomes clear that he's avoiding Xin and thinking it's just a tiff, Eileen lures her round to talk. But as Sean and Marcus encourage them to kiss and make up, will the truth come out?

    1st June

With John still at large, detectives talk to a broken Fiz. She denies any knowledge of John's crimes, omitting to mention that she knew John was posing as Colin Fishwick and that she found him with his body. Will they accept her story?

Later, as Fiz faces a night alone with Hope, she locks up the house. But has she done enough to keep John out?

Meanwhile, with Max staying where he is and Tracy's threat neutralised, Steve and Becky look to the future. But somebody has called social services and Becky's heart sinks as the authorities swoop. Will they lose Max?

Elsewhere, Xin insists that Graeme talks about the night they spent together, claiming she knows he felt a connection. How will Graeme react?

    2nd June

As John remains in hiding, the police return to talk to Fiz, asking if the name Joy Fishwick means anything to her.

Later, a horrified Fiz discovers John's hiding place. Her instinct is to call the police but John has Hope in his arms. As he pushes her to run away with him, will Fiz co-operate again or will John make his getaway with Hope? Soon afterwards, a dramatic accident leaves someone unconscious…

Meanwhile, Becky's floored to discover that the investigation didn't come from a routine visit but an anonymous call. Who will she suspect?

Elsewhere, Owen's not happy that Katy now wants to keep the baby. But when Chesney stands up to him, insisting there's no way he's going to lose his baby, will Owen have a change of heart?

    3rd June

Tonight sees the climax to a dramatic week of episodes for the Stapes and the McDonalds. Will John make his escape and who, if anyone, will he be taking with him? Viewers will witness a spectacular hospital rooftop finale…

Meanwhile, what does the future hold for the McDonalds' marriage, and that of Kylie and David, as Max's fate hangs in the balance?

With Tracy the obvious suspect over the tip-off to social services, Becky decides enough is enough and armed with a sledge hammer heads straight for Number 1.

As a terrified Tracy cowers in terror, a crazed Becky smashes her way though the door into the house. Will Tracy escape unscathed or has Becky been pushed to the limit?

Does John really think he can dig up Colin's body without being caught?
"Well he's got away with a lot so far, so yes! He tells Fiz at 10pm that he's off to work and she finally makes the connection and follows him. She arrives at the factory to see John with a dead body."

How does Fiz react to what she sees?
"It's the most bizarre situation really, because at first she just thinks that he's found a body. He doesn't deny it initially because his brain is just racing and thinking, 'How am I going to get away with this?' And then it's only after a while that she starts to think that it might be Chesney, because obviously Chesney's missing. It's only at that point that he kind of goes, 'No, no, no, it's not Chesney', and then says basically, 'You remember Colin Fishwick?'…"

How does Fiz feel as John tells her the truth about Colin's death?
"Her reaction is just absolute horror, really, at what's gone on - she can't quite comprehend it. It's like her image of who her husband is gets completely shattered throughout that conversation - it's like he becomes a different person to her. Although he's insistent that he's the same person and trying to get across how it all happened and why it happened, all she can see is him stood there with a dead body."

Is Fiz's love for John killed straight away?

"I don't know if it kills her love for him, but certainly she's disgusted with him, in a way that she never has been before. Considering everything that's gone on in the past before, I think this is the first time that you genuinely see that their relationship changes forever at this point."

    What happens to Colin's body?
"He's still got to be got rid of, obviously, and part of this thing with Fiz is that she then realises she's in deep trouble, because she took the inheritance money not realising that Colin was dead. She's kind of made herself very complicit in it all. He asks her to help get rid of the body because they've both broken the law. I'm not saying whether she agrees to help get rid of this body, though!"

John continues to tells Fiz that they need to run away together. Does she agree?
"No, she refuses to go anywhere until Chesney's back. She's absolutely insistent that she must find Chesney first or must wait until he comes home, as she can't leave him."

In a further twist, Katy is planning to have an abortion because she thinks Chesney has abandoned her. How does this change things?

"Ironically this is probably the final thing that really does it for John. Katy turns up and says, 'I'm going to have an abortion today'. He can't just say nothing, for all his mistakes he just can't have that on his conscience, he can't let her do it. So he first of all tries to talk Katy out of it, but when it's clear that he's not going to be able to, he thinks, 'I'm going to have to get Chesney out and let him speak to Katy to let her know that he does want the baby'. And that's really what makes it all come tumbling down for him."

    What happens next?
"At the Hoyles', he runs downstairs and is going to get Chesney out and get him to phone Katy, and then him and Chesney start having a row. In the middle of this row, he basically threatens Chesney and in threatening him kind of admits that he killed Charlotte, just as Fiz is walking in. She basically hears him confess to killing Charlotte which doesn't go down very well with anybody!"

Doesn't John go on the run after that?

"Yes, he does. Literally his whole life has completely fallen apart, he's clutching at straws and just grappling with anything. Without any shadow of a doubt, he's forgotten to take his pills on the run with him, and literally he's losing his grip on reality big time."

We know that John eventually ends up on a hospital roof with Hope. How does that come about?

"He's at the hospital with Hope and as he is making his way out of the front door, the police arrive. He then panics, runs back inside and goes up some stairs, which take him to the roof. At this point, he's lost the plot and hasn't had any happy medicine for days. All he wants to do is escape, but he's 60ft up and surrounded by police. The fear you see in his eyes is real because heights make my legs buckle!"

We also know that everything reaches a climax with a showdown on the roof. Can you tell us anything about what happens?

"Well it's a long way up! And by that very nature, it's also a very long way down! As for what happens, that would be telling - it is aired after the watershed, so we can do things we don't normally do. John is right back to animal instincts. He has nowhere to go, so anything could happen."

As John has Hope in his arms on the roof, would he harm his own daughter?

"Well, under normal circumstances absolutely not. But like I say, it is that fact that he's completely losing his grip on reality, he's a rabbit caught in the headlights, and I think under those circumstances anything is possible really. That's what's great about those last few episodes, he does go to a place of anything is possible. And I think that's what's interesting - I don't think any of you will work out what happens, because it's very much deliberate the way it's been done, that's what will be great for the audience. If you are into this world of possibility, with him at the end literally anything could happen."

Are you pleased to have such a dramatic ending to the storyline?

"Yeah, I am, I'm pleased. It's a story that's gone on for nearly a year and a half now, which is virtually unheard of in soap terms. And I know it's a big thing for them to do that, and for them to make that decision to play this story out over such a long period of time. We always knew that this story would have to come to an end at some point, and we were always assured that when it did it would be big. I hope that it's a fitting wind-up to the story. The whole week is a big week of telly, they've really gone for it, and from my point of view as an actor and as somebody who's played John Stape for the past four years, I'm really grateful that it's all finishing up like this."

Will next week be the last time we see John Stape?
"All I can say is, you won't be seeing him anywhere near the Rovers Return!"

Becky leaves Steve furious at the start of next week when she tells him that Tracy leaving with Amy might not be such a bad thing. Doesn't she realise how hard it would be for Steve to lose his daughter?
"The thing about Becky is that she doesn't see it as her and Max and Tracy and Amy with Steve in the middle. She sees it as three parents with two children to look after - a modern family that should be able to work. Tracy is the one who is making it difficult for Steve and wanting him to choose. What she says is that if Amy did move away, they would absolutely still be able to see her and be a family in the way that many families share time between parents. It's when she points out that if they lost Max then they wouldn't be able to see him at all that Steve gets angry because he reads this as her making him choose, which she absolutely isn't."

Steve ends up visiting the casino, where he tells Dev that he's lost everything because of Becky's pursuit of Max. Would Becky feel guilty if she knew he felt this way?
"At first I think she'd be angry more than anything, that seems to be how Becky deals with everything! But then after she'd calm down and then yes, of course she'd be feeling guilty. Steve has risked a lot over the years to be with Becky, even more so now with Max. Ultimately, he just wants her to be happy and he knows that having Max is the only way she will be."

Do you think Becky is only thinking of herself in this storyline, or does she genuinely have Max's best interests at heart?
"She is not selfish and if she thought he'd be better off elsewhere, she would let him go. But there is no way she thinks that David Platt would be a better dad than Steve! She believes that she is saving Max - he is her first priority in all of this."

How does Becky react when a social worker calls at the pub questioning her and Steve about Kylie and Max?
"She panics! Everything is going so well and when a social worker turns up unexpectedly, she doesn't understand and loses it. She's just so scared that after everything they'll take Max, and in her eyes this means Max will have the life she had, passed from pillar to post, not trusting anyone, probably falling into a life of crime and drugs like she did."

Becky lies to social services about the situation with Max, but does she feel confident that Kylie will back up her story?
"I think she has her doubts as it's Kylie at the end of the day! But all in all, I think she's pretty confident. Surely no-one in their right mind would want to admit they sold their own son! She knows for sure that Kylie doesn't want Max, but she knows she will have to pretend that she does or David will see she has a swinging brick for a heart! David is the problem here. Kylie and Bex are united in terms of Max's best interests."

As the week continues, David marches round to accuse Becky of bullying Kylie over Max. How does Becky feel?
"Very frustrated! I think she understands Kylie's predicament, in that she doesn't want to tell David about selling Max, and Bex doesn't want that either. David could tell the whole street - he can never know the full story and that's the problem. If David backed off there would be no problem. The one person who is driving this whole thing forward is David. Kylie is happy for Steve and Becky to have Max, so she can carry on going out and drinking and doing what she wants. But since David and Kylie have got married, David's made it his business to get Max back."

Social services later pay a second visit after receiving a tip-off over the true situation with Max. Does Becky have any suspicions about who's to blame?
"Yes, there is a list of suspects and she will find out through a process of elimination starting with Kylie then Tracy! Becky really does believe that Tracy is the one who rang social services and she sees red. She grabs a mallet and storms round to the Barlows' - she is like a woman possessed and starts breaking down the door of number one. It was great fun to film because once she gets into the house she starts to swing the mallet round breaking ornaments and furniture as she tries to get to Tracy. Tracy and the Barlows are terrified and Steve is desperately trying to talk some sense into her, but she is beyond listening at this point…"

    John and Fiz
Coronation Street fans have watched Fiz remain in the dark over her husband John's true colours for many months, but the truth is about to come out at last with shocking consequences. Cornered at last when Fiz catches him frantically digging up Colin Fishwick's body at the factory amid fresh building work there, John is left with no choice but to tell his wife the truth and plough ahead with his plan to move Colin's remains.

Although Fiz wants to call the police, she realises that she can't when John reminds her that she's up to her neck in it after stealing Joy's inheritance. Could she do the unthinkable and become John's accomplice?

Later, when Fiz also learns the truth about Charlotte and Joy's deaths, John goes on the run but it's not long until he returns to haunt his wife at the hospital after she has an accident on the cobbles.

Clutching baby Hope in his arms, John rushes to the hospital roof - could his last act be his darkest one yet? Full details of the plot's conclusion are being kept closely under wraps but it's sure to be one to remember.

Sam Aston, who plays Chesney, recently said: "Graeme [Hawley] has a fantastic, sinister exit. It's full of really good suspense and it's so John Stape! Not only that, it leaves a big question over Fiz and Chesney's future, so the aftermath will go on for quite a while…"

    Chesney and Katy

Amid all the drama for Fiz and John, there's an equally important plot running focusing on Chesney, Katy and the fate of their unborn baby. While Chesney is locked in the Hoyles' basement, Katy allows her father Owen to persuade her that an abortion is her best option as Chesney has seemingly abandoned her.

When Chesney finally secures his freedom on the day of Katy's appointment, Fiz informs him of his girlfriend's intentions and he faces a race against time to stop her from ending her pregnancy.

Asked whether Chesney would be a good father in a recent interview, Sam Aston replied: "Yes, especially after everything he's been through with being in care and having a pretty useless mum himself. It's made him realise how important it is to always be there for your child and he'll make sure they're number one in his world."

In order to prove this, Chesney will have to get to his girlfriend in time. Will he get a chance to convince Katy that he's committed to their baby? Or will John be responsible for yet another tragedy?

    The McDonalds and Max
With Tracy Barlow and David Platt constantly on their case, there's been quite a few scares for Becky and Steve McDonald as they've tried to keep the details of their 'purchase' of Max under wraps. However, next week the truth looks likely to come out as social services turn up and start asking some awkward questions.

Although Becky manages to keep the authorities at bay temporarily, she soon receives the shocking news that somebody has reported her for buying Max, leaving his future at The Rovers in doubt.

Whether Max really will be taken away from the couple as rumoured is currently unclear, but we know that social services swoop on the pub for a second time after receiving the surprise tip-off.

Becky is a woman possessed following her latest setback and, convinced that Tracy has finally grassed her up, she marches round to the Barlows' house with a sledgehammer in hand and starts smashing up the front room.

Katherine Kelly, who plays Becky, says: "It was great fun to film because once she gets into the house she starts to swing the mallet round breaking ornaments and furniture as she tries to get to Tracy!"

Will Tracy manage to escape unscathed or will she face the full force of Becky's fury? And could this be the final straw for the McDonalds' fragile marriage?

    Graeme, Tina and Xin

Although it's a less prominent part of Corrie's explosive week, the slow-burn plot featuring Graeme, Tina and Xin enters a new phase in these episodes in the aftermath of Graeme giving into his feelings for Xin.

Feeling guilty over betraying Tina, Graeme is desperate to see his girlfriend but can he bring himself to confess to what he's done?

As the week continues, Graeme tries his best to avoid Xin by going to stay at Eileen's, but as his wife starts pressuring him to make a choice between her and Tina, it's clear that Graeme is facing a huge dilemma...

Craig Gazey has already filmed his final scenes as Graeme, while tabloid reports have suggested that the Weatherfield window cleaner could soon declare his love for Xin for real.

Could next week see Graeme's heart pushed in Xin's direction? Or will he stay loyal to Tina?

Becky panics as social services arrive at The Rovers in tonight's episode of Coronation Street.

As the soap's big week continues, Becky fears that the game is up and that there's more to the social worker's 'routine visit' than meets the eye.

Steve, however, is eerily calm throughout and explains that Kylie no longer lives at the pub but has full access to Max.

As Becky fears that he's said too much, Steve has a plan and is convinced that Kylie will corroborate his story. But will the troublemaker co-operate?
