Adam Thomas has confirmed that his Emmerdale character Adam Barton is "quite flattered" when he receives romantic attention from Ella Hart in his latest storyline.

Ella's new toyboy plot began last night when she made her first attempt to get close to Adam. Things go much further in the coming weeks when the pair embark on a full-blown affair.

In an interview with Take It Easy, Thomas admitted that his alter ego is thrilled to have secured the attentions of an older woman - despite working for Ella's partner Declan and being in a relationship with her daughter Mia.

Thomas explained: "Well, it's every boy's dream to be chased by an older woman. Adam's been going out with her daughter Mia for a while and he sees Ella being neglected by her husband. He feels sorry for her."

Asked whether Adam will succumb to Ella's advances, he replied: "Yes he does, and he's quite flattered. He just reacts how the majority of boys his age would. Even though he's got Mia to think about, it's offered to him on a plate and he doesn't really know how he should handle it."

The actor added that Adam is failing to consider how Declan and Mia would react if the truth ever came to light.

"We don't know what the outcome is yet, although I'm sure nothing good is going to come from it," Thomas said. "If Declan finds out, then Adam will be in all sorts of trouble. But I just don't believe he's thinking about it at the moment. He's just a young kid playing the field."

In Emmerdale, Adam will finally succumb to Ella's advances in a fortnight's time after she makes her feelings for him much clearer.

As Adam begins to worry that his father will lose the farm due to Declan's business plans, Ella takes the opportunity to play the supportive 'friend' - assuring him that she'll try to work her magic on Declan on his behalf.

Later, Ella insists that Adam has a drink with her, so they open a bottle of wine. Not long afterwards, Ella finally makes her move on her daughter's boyfriend, leaning in to kiss him.

Although Adam initially pulls away, he soon responds and the pair share a smooch. Their intimate moment has to be cut short when Mia and Declan arrive home suddenly, but how long will it take before they go all the way?


These scenes air on Thursday, May 12 at 8pm on ITV1.

May 9th

Adam's event has been a great success and he is delighted to receive praise from Declan.

Later, when Adam catches a client trying to make a move on Ella, he comes to her rescue. Ella thanks him and, as she leaves the room, she smiles at him for slightly too long before brushing closely past him - making her feelings for him much clearer. Adam is left half excited, half terrified.

Meanwhile, Victoria enters the shop to hear David leaving a message for Amy to call him. Questioning why he would do that if he didn't have a guilty conscience, it's clear that Victoria still believes Amy's side of the story. Victoria shares what she heard with Val and it's clear that she too doubts his tale. As they share their concerns with Pollard, Val finally relents and agrees that they need to call the police.

Elsewhere, as Jackson tells Hazel and Aaron that he loves them and had a great time in Whitby but this isn't reality, it dawns on them that he still feels the same way.

May 10th

Val explains to Amy's social worker why she thinks Amy has run away. The social worker takes the opportunity to tell Val and Pollard that they'd have to take the matter forward if Amy did accuse David. Pollard, however, is quick to assure her that David is innocent.

Later, Pollard and Val are at odds over Amy's accusations and David worries that his reputation on the council will be in tatters when word spreads.

Meanwhile, John returns from the bank, gutted that the deposit they require is still too high. Moira is taken aback by how disappointed he is and resolves to help him. She points out to John that Jai is a property developer and may be willing to invest in them. John thinks it's a brilliant idea and he calls Jai straight away, feeling buoyed by his wife's support.

May 11th

John has a meeting with Jai about his new business ideas, but Jai admits that he doesn't have the capital to invest at the moment, even though he can see potential. John phones other potential investors, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, Val talks to Diane about Amy's disappearance. They agree to question Victoria again, asking if Amy could have misunderstood David. However, Victoria claims that there's no misunderstanding - she's seen the texts that David sent Amy along with the necklace he bought her.

Elsewhere, Cameron is relieved to get some more driving shifts from Carl, explaining that his divorce is looking expensive. When he tells Debbie, Chas suggests that he should demand payment in advance from cheating Carl.

Also today, Jackson tries to pretend everything is fine in front of Jerry; and Nikhil is pleased with himself after a night of passion with Chas, but Gennie is forced to hide her jealousy over their relationship.

May 12th


Debbie sees Cameron reading the divorce papers and is keen to see them, but she gets a shock when she spots another woman listed in the papers. Cameron admits that he had another affair after Debbie left Jersey. Debbie is livid, reminding him that she left Jersey so he could try and work things out with his wife.

Meanwhile, with only a week to go, John starts to panic after he takes a call from an investor turning him down. Declan finds out from Jai that John has asked him for money and Declan has a go at Adam for not telling him what John's up to. Adam feels uncomfortable, reminding Declan that John is his dad, but Declan insists that he works for him.

Later, Ella is keen to bad-mouth Declan and chats to Adam as he works. She encourages him to share his problems with her and as Adam admits that he fears his dad will lose the farm, Ella offers to work her magic with Declan to help and Adam is grateful.

Elsewhere, Aaron accuses Hazel of giving up; David is annoyed to learn from Alicia that the locals believe Amy's claims; and driven by her envy, Gennie suggests to Nikhil that he should take Chas to the theatre, knowing she'll hate it.


May 13th 7-00pm


Mia admits to an anxious Adam that her mum seems to be in a weird mood and has been asking about their love life. Having returned from a shopping trip, Ella appears wearing a revealing new dress to impress Adam.

Adam is uncomfortable being alone with Ella, reminding her that he's seeing her daughter. However, a dismissive Ella kisses him. Later, Adam tells her that it was a mistake and Ella agrees, but it's clear that neither can resist and they fall back into a passionate embrace.

Meanwhile, Moira reminds John that he's always wanted to run his own farm and there aren't exactly other offers on the table. John agrees but wishes the deal wasn't with Declan. He reluctantly visits Home Farm and shakes on the deal, before dismissing Declan's offer of champagne with annoyance.

Elsewhere, Hazel awkwardly thanks Joe but tells him that they don't need him anymore. She then covers by claiming that Jerry wants to be more involved. Joe is shocked and saddened but agrees. Later, Aaron decides to move in with Jackson and Hazel.

Also today, after seeing Cameron buy Eve a drink, Cain warns him not to mess Debbie about; Alex secretly arranges to meet Victoria and they end up in bed together at his caravan; and David returns from a council meeting frustrated because everyone has been talking about him and Amy.


8-00pm

Declan visits Butlers and tells John that, luckily for him, he trusts Jai's judgement and has a proposition to invest in exchange for 20% of the business, to enable John to buy the farm. Mia then annoys Declan by pushing the percentage down to 15.

At the same time, Ella insists that Adam have a drink with her and opens a bottle of wine. As they joke together, Ella leans in and kisses him. Adam pulls back at first, but then responds before hearing Mia and Declan return home and quickly leaving.

Meanwhile, Debbie confides in Chas about the divorce papers. Chas wonders whether Cameron's ex is playing clever games, knowing that naming a different woman will cause problems between them. Later, Cameron insists that he loves Debbie and is being truthful when he says that he wants to be with her. They agree to go out for a drink that evening, but Debbie changes her mind when she sees him messing about with Eve.

Elsewhere, Aaron is in turmoil; Andy is unimpressed to see Alex flirting with Victoria but Alicia tries to stop him being overprotective; and Gennie is horrified to see that Chas had a good time with Nikhil at the theatre.

The curse of Home Farm strikes again. Soap law dictates that if you're lucky enough to live in such a grand house, you should do one of three things to blight your life.

First, you might murder a close relative - think Carl King and Natasha Wylde. Or you may blow up the place like schizophrenic lesbian vet Zoe Tate did.

Or you could have a torrid affair - just like most of the occupants since the show first started nearly 40 years ago.

Luckily, sultry lady of the manor Ella decides to go for the third option - at least for now.

And after all the flirting, smouldering looks, manicures and near kisses, this cougar pounces on daughter Mia's boyfriend Adam on Friday. Talk about keeping it in the family...

Not that this comes as any 
great surprise, particularly as Ella had first planted the idea in Adam's dim head a few weeks ago.

"All this attention from a glamorous blonde," she purred. 
"It's what boys your 
age dream of, isn't it?"

To be fair, it's more than unbridled lust - but only just. For with Adam's dad John running out of time to buy Butler's Farm from Ella's ex-husband Declan, she steps in to
"work her magic".

Although wife Moira encourages John to approach property developer Jai to help buy the farm, unfortunately he doesn't have the capital.

Luckily, Ella knows a man who does. With a few well-chosen words, she suggests that if
Jai can see the potential, so should Declan. And a deal is done faster than John can tell Declan that he still hates his guts.

But as Ella seduces Adam, you have to wonder if Declan's young employee has thought this through, sleeping with the boss's daughter and now his wife.

Let's hope somebody has had the foresight to lock up the shotguns...
