Benidorm’s TV holidaymakers are set to stage a rebellion in the brand new series.

The characters who stay at the famous Solaris Hotel are in for a shock when they check in.

They are banned from singing karaoke.

And they are also told to smarten up their appearance and stop wearing tacky beach shorts and bikinis.

Chaos looms when a new boss takes over at the hotel.

Snooty Joyce Temple-Savage (played by Loose Women star Sherrie Hewson, 61) takes over the running of the place from Janey Yorke (I’m A Celebrity’s Crissy Rock).

She is horrified to discover the hotel is not five-star, has a tranny waiter Les (Tim Healy), a sex-mad barman Mateo (Jake Can*uso) and common-as-muck guests.

So she sets about trying to upgrade the Solaris.

Her new rules include banning karaoke nights at the hotel’s club the Neptune and bringing in new dress codes. But her plan quickly backfires.

The guests and staff plot a mutiny to bring her down.

A show source said: “Joyce thinks the Solaris is tacky and wants to make it posh.

“But she has a fight on her hands.

“Expect fireworks right from the start of the new series.”

Newcomer and former Corrie actress Sherrie found herself mobbed by real-life holidaymakers when she joined the Benidorm cast.

She loved to walk from her hotel to the set each day.

But the 10-minute stroll turned into an hour most days as she was accosted for photos and autographs.

The new series starts on ITV1 next month.

KATE O'MARA is to sharpen her talons for a guest role in Benidorm. The Dynasty star — whose character remains a secret — is one of five actors to have cameos in the fifth series of the ITV sitcom.

Kate is best known for playing Alexis Colby's scheming sister Caress Morrell in the 90s US soap.

She starred alongside Joan Collins who also wants to appear in Benidorm after her writer sister Jackie showed her some episodes.

Matthew Kelly, My Family star Michael Fenton Stevens, Scottish actress Siobhan Redmond and veteran northern TV star Ted Robbins will also take guest roles.

As the show returns later this month, the Solano has a new boss, Joyce Temple-Savage — played by Loose Woman Sherrie Hewson — who wants to turn the resort into a four-star hotel.

Cameo ... Matthew Kelly's guest roleAn insider said: "Sherrie soon learned that the cast are treated like rock stars in Benidorm and was mobbed every day when they filmed on location."

Show star Steve Pemberton — Mick Garvey in the sitcom — has penned three episodes of this season, which also has show creator Derren Little back on board as writer.

Cast and production were thrilled that creator Derren decided to return following a threat to quit after series four.

Loose woman ... Sherrie Hewston also has guest partAn insider said: "Steve was a natural fit to write alongside Derren as he's part of the 'Benidorm family'. Everyone was very pleased."

Show sources said regular Jake Canuso — who plays womanising barman Mateo — spent six weeks in the gym prior to filming the first episode.

And the heat played havoc for transsexual barman Les/Lesley (Tim Healy) who found his make-up sliding off.

They're back ... Benidorm regularsThis series, the Garveys — Mick (Steve Pemberton), Janice (Siobhan Finneran), Michael (Oliver Stokes) and Madge (Sheila Reid) all return to their all-inclusive resort.

But Jacqueline (Janine Duvitski) comes back alone following her husband Donald's (Kenny Ireland) faked death.

NEW SERIES: The first day of the holidays, and chaos reigns at the Solana Hotel. Staff regulars Mateo (Jake Canuso) and Les/Lesley (Tim Healy) can barely keep control. Les’s son Liam (Adam Gillen) is now the hotel ‘s hopeless handyman. When will the new manager appear? A coachload of angry holiday-makers arrives – including an irate Gavin (Hugh Sachs) and Noreen (Elsie Kelly): somehow, the travel company has lost all their luggage.

The Solana's new manageress - Joyce Temple-Savage (Sherrie Hewson) is organising a dance competition for the guests. Everyone is eager to take part, and rehearsals are supervised by an old flame of Joyce's - TV's Cyril Babcock (Matthew Kelly) - an ageing juve whose impatience with the talent-lite contestants leads to a hilarious dance-off with smouldering Mateo (Jake Canuso).

Kenneth (Tony Maudsley) hires a drab assistant (Carmen) for his salon whose minimal knowledge of hair-dressing and the English language leads to an unfortunate accident with her first client - Solana guest Mr Dixon (Ian Lindsay). Kenneth tries to cheer up Gavin (Hugh Sachs) - who's sorely missing partner Troy, but Gavin's very reluctant to take part in the dance competition (though Kenneth has a good idea who his partner could be .)

Janice (Siobhan Finneran) is shocked to see Jack (Elliott Jordan) at the pool bar. Jack made her heart skip a beat several years before, and nearly ruined Madge's wedding to Mel. When she confronts him, he seems not to know her. What's he playing at? And will Mick (Steve Pemberton) turn up in time to prevent a nasty scene? As Noreen (Elsie Kelly) boogies with Mateo, and Liam (Adam Gillen) jives with Trudy (Michelle Butterly) - the drama unfolds.

    With guest star Matthew Kelly.

Siobhan Fenneran has said that she supports the idea of a Benidorm movie.

The Janice Garvey actress believes that the success of The Inbetweeners shows that the ITV comedy would suit a film spinoff.

She told What's on TV: "It would be exciting, yes. We don't know if there's a movie in the pipeline but why not? If The Inbetweeners has been a huge success, I'm sure we could be, too."

Meanwhile, she said of the show's continued triumph in the ratings: "I think people who have stuck with it from the beginning are telling their friends and family to watch it, so it's just grown. If you talk to people they say, 'Oh I'd never seen it but then somebody told me to watch it or friends bought me the box set'. And now they've now caught up."

Finneran, who also stars in Downton Abbey, added: "There's nothing else like it on the telly and we go out at a great time of year. We go out in February when everyone's fed up, cold, miserable, and we bring a bit of sunshine into their lives. You can sit and have a good giggle. If it's up your street you can have a good laugh at it."

Benidorm's fourth series, which features guest stars Kate O'Mara and Matthew Kelly, begins next Friday (February 24) at 9pm. ?? Thought it is 5th series?

Mick (Steve Pemberton) is horrified that his nice-but-dim brother Pete (Shaun Dooley) is due in Benidorm with crusty dad Stan (David Bradley) for a stag party. To everyone's surprise, Pete is about to get married. Mick cannot conceal his impatience with hopeless Pete, and the family reunion gets off to a bad start.

Imagining - mistakenly - that Troy has broken up with him, Gavin (Hugh Sachs) agrees to a date with pretty Emilio. But when Kenneth discovers that Gavin has misunderstood a text from Troy - he is nearly too late to save him from an unfortunate holiday romance.
Meanwhile, Trudy (Michelle Butterly) hatches a plan to get intimate with Mateo, by pretending to drown in the pool while he's on duty as a life-guard. Her hopes of some extended mouth-to-mouth resuscitation are ruined by the arrival of Les - dressed as Pamela Anderson - whose forceful attentions aren't quite what she had in mind.

Donald (Kenny Ireland) suggests fancy dress for the stag party, and both he and Kenneth (Tony Maudsley) opt for the Rita Heyworth look. Michael (Oliver Stokes) and Liam (Adam Gillen) get rather the worse for wear, and everyone is shocked when Donald takes them to see Jacqueline (Janine Duvitski) perform her erotic strip-tease at a local club. Can Stan bring about a reconciliation between Mick and his brother? And why might this be Stan's last holiday?
With guest stars David Bradley and Shaun Dooley.

The Garveys (Siobhan Finneran, Steve Pemberton, Oliver Stokes) are alarmed by rumours of a gang kidnapping the unwary and stealing their organs, so when Michael sees a tall dark stranger bundling Madge (Sheila Reid) into a car, they're convinced she's a victim.

In pursuit of her fourth star for the Solana, Joyce (Sherrie Hewson) has invited Victor St James (Ted Robbins) of Costa Class magazine to visit the hotel. She instructs Mateo (Jake Canuso) to cook an authentic Spanish paella. Les (Tim Healy) agrees to help and sends Liam (Adam Gillen) out to buy ingredients. Things begin to go wrong when he brings back a live chicken, which Liam has christened Meryl.

Trudy (Michelle Butterly) undertakes to be ladylike for 24 hours in order to win a bet with Sam (Shelley Longworth), while Donald (Kenny Ireland) and Jacqueline (Janine Duvitski) plug into a new app connecting them to other swingers in the area.

When the Garveys eventually find Madge, the tall dark stranger turns out to be Mohammed, an old friend of Mel's, who might have some very good news for all of them. And Victor St James isn't quite as classy as Joyce was expecting. But who will be the organ robbers next victim?

With guest stars Dhafer L'Abidine and Ted Robbins.

The British Olympic Synchronised Swimming team is in town to practise, and Joyce (Sherrie Hewson) has persuaded them to stay at the Solana. Hazel, the team's strict coach, (Siobhan Redmond) is shocked at the poor facilities, but agrees to Joyce's ambitious plan for a gala display in the hotel pool that night. The girls are due for a break from their rigorous training, and Liam (Adam Gillen) escorts them (and Michael - Oliver Stokes) on a sight seeing tour of beautiful Calpe - just along the coast.

Madge (Sheila Reid) is very keen on handsome Mohammed (Dhafer L'Abidine) - the son of a wealthy property developer who knew Mel. Mick and Janice (Steve Pemberton and Siobhan Finneran) are shocked to learn that Madge intends to marry him. She says it's a marriage of convenience. but how will she benefit?

At Calpe, Liam fails to stop the attractive young swimmers joining an 18 -30 booze cruise, the very cruise that Trudy (Michelle Butterly) and Sam (Shelley Longworth) are heading for in search of some hot party action. But Danny (Carl Rice) won't let Trudy on board: she's too old. Or Michael: he's too young. Trudy - however - has a cunning plan.

What happens when the swimmers turn up drunk to the gala? And why does everyone end up in the pool? And what happens when Noreen locks herself and Gavin on a balcony, high out of ear-shot?
With guest stars Siobhan Redmond, Dhafer L'Abidine and Carl Rice.
