    Inside Soap Awards 2016

You've been voting since June for your favourites and the full shortlist for this year's Inside Soap Awards is finally here.

Coronation Street leads the way with 18 nominations, followed by fellow ITV soap Emmerdale, while EastEnders and Hollyoaks picked up 14 and 11 nods, respectively.

In the hotly-contested acting categories, Corrie's Jack P Shepherd and Emmerdale's Danny Miller take on EastEnders duo Danny Dyer and Steve McFadden in Best Actor. Corrie duo Paula Lane and Tina O'Brien are up against EastEnders' Lacey Turner and Emmerdale's Lucy Pargeter in Best Actress.

Another Corrie duo are in contention for Best Newcomer, with Liam Bairstow and Shayne Ward competing against Emmerdale's Isobel Steele and Hollyoaks' Richard Linnell.

Ward is also up for Sexiest Male, alongside Dyer, Emmerdale's Michael Parr and Hollyoaks' Charlie Clapham. The shortlist for Sexiest Female was unveiled on Sunday (September 25), as 2015 winner Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe takes on 2014 champ EastEnders' Jacqueline Jossa.

Best Shock Twist will go to one of Kylie killing Callum in Corrie, Bobby confessing all in EastEnders, Val dying in Emmerdale and Nico murdering Trevor in Hollyoaks. Corrie's Sean Ward, EastEnders' Barbara Windsor, Emmerdale's Charlie Hardwick and Hollyoaks' Greg Wood are up for Best Exit.

Emmerdale has won the Best Soap prize at this year's Inside Soap Awards for the second year in a row.

The ITV show picked up a total of four prizes at tonight's ceremony (October 3), including walking away with the hotly-contested main award, beating off competition from EastEnders, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks.

Emmerdale also took Best Young Actor for adorable little Amelia Flanagan, Best Shock Twist for Val's death last year - and Robron fans will be pleased as the popular pair were awarded Best Partnership.

But despite Emmerdale being the biggest winner in a sense, it was actually EastEnders that went home armed with the most awards.

The BBC soap picked up a total of five gongs, with Steve McFadden being crowned Best Actor for his role as Phil Mitchell, and Lacey Turner awarded Best Actress for her portrayal of Stacey Branning.

EastEnders stars Tameka Empson and Jacqueline Jossa also scooped gongs for Funniest Female and Sexiest Female respectively, while Best Exit went to Barbara Windsor for Peggy's tearjerker death.

Editor of Inside Soap Steven Murphy said: "It's been a dramatic year in soapland with some stand-out plots and amazing performances, so the competition was tougher than ever. However, if anyone can make the right decision, it's the readers of Inside Soap magazine - Britain's original and best TV soap weekly."

Reflecting on his joint win, Emmerdale star Danny Miller said: "It's amazing to have won. It's overwhelming to have been voted amongst soap icons, especially with the strong stories on all the soaps this year. I think it's more a credit to Ryan, if I'm honest, because he's come in with such a strong character."

While Ryan Hawley added: "It's great to have won, especially as it's voted for by the readers of Inside Soap magazine, who are true soap fans. It's a huge honour."

Speaking about her award for Peggy's demise, Barbara Windsor said: "I was nervous [about saying goodbye to Peggy], of course I was. But Peggy's exit was wonderful - I really couldn't have asked for more. The writers spoilt me, they really did!"

How was Cain up for best bad boy? He does nothing apart from kidnap someone every few months, surely Ross should of been nominated? He has had a quiet year but he still schemes and gets in to trouble. He is the only proper bad boy Emmerdale have.
