    Brit Awards 2011

The Brit Awards 2011 will take place on February 15 at London's O2 arena, it has been confirmed.

It was previously confirmed that the music ceremony would move from the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, where it has been held since 1998.

A statement said that the move would mark the "new start of an era for the UK's most prestigious music event".

Speaking about the new venue, Brit Awards Chairman David Joseph said: "Looking at what the Brits stands for - the 'must see' spectacle and the unique performances which stretch every artist who performs - it was clear that moving to a state-of-the-art venue like The O2 was an obvious evolution."

It was also confirmed that a new three-year deal has been struck with ITV, to broadcast the ceremony.

"We have an excellent, long-standing relationship with The Brits and are delighted to be the official broadcaster for the UK's biggest music awards ceremony over the next three years," ITV director of entertainment and comedy Elaine Bedell said.

"Our viewers love the anticipation of what a live music show can bring as some of the world's biggest performers take to the stage," she added.

James Corden has been confirmed as the host of next month's Brit Awards at the 02 Arena.

The Gavin & Stacey comic will helm the ceremony, which takes place on Tuesday, February 15.

"I have always loved the Brits and I am honoured to have been asked to host such a prestigious event," said the TV star.

Corden will be returning to the Brits for the second time, after previously hosting the show in 2009 with Mat Horne and Kylie Minogue.

Rihanna is reportedly planning to put on her raunchiest performance ever at next week's Brit Awards.

The singer will perform at Tuesday night's ceremony at London's O2 Arena. According to Metro, the 22-year-old's performance will shock audiences.

"Rihanna's Brits performance is going to be her raunchiest show yet," a source told the paper. "And will be filled with lots of nudity."

The Barbadian star's performance on The X Factor in December attracted more than 4,000 complaints.

Rihanna is nominated in the 'International Female Solo Artist' category at the Brits.

Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has lapped up the chance to join stars such as Cheryl Cole and Kylie Minogue as a presenter at the Brit Awards.

The driver will swap the race track for album tracks as he takes to the stage at the O2 to join the UK's biggest music bash.

Also handing over prizes at the star-studded event will by Dermot O'Leary and Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon and John Taylor.

Among the acts hoping for glory will Tinie Tempah, Mumford And Sons, The xx and Plan B who lead the field in terms of nominations.

Also expected to do well are chart-toppers Take That who bounced back with their original line-up - with Robbie Williams back in the fold - in recent months.

Organisers are trying to revamp the awards this year with an Oscars-style focus which will see the event reach a crescendo with the best album prize.

Performers will include Rihanna, Arcade Fire and Take That, who are each plotting spectacular appearances, while rapper turned soul singer Plan B is said to be planning a flame-filled performance.

James Corden will host the event and he has already revealed he will be donating his fee to Comic Relief.

Tinie Tempah leads the pack as he vies for four nominations, with the 22-year-old south Londoner in the running for best British male, British breakthrough act, best single and best album. Plan B and Mumford And Sons each have three nominations, while Take That are up for two - best group and best album. Another act who make the shortlist three times are Mercury Prize-winners The xx.

Veteran rocker Robert Plant picked up his first Brits nomination in a career stretching back to the 60s, with a nod for best British male.
