THE FINAL EVER EPISODE OF THE BILL

Respect [part 2 of 2]

Following Liam Martin’s murder and Jasmine Harris’ subsequent gang rape, Smithy and Stone try to track down the gang members responsible. Stone finally proves himself to Smithy and Jack breaks free of his shackles to come up trumps for the team.

Superintendent Jack Meadows (Simon Rouse) continues questioning Carlos Miller (Lewis Chase) trying to get him to admit that Gary Wilson (Darragh Mortell) is leading the Parkway Crew, the gang responsible for the murder of Liam Martin and the gang rape of Jasmine Harris (Faye Daveney). DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) and the team watch CCTV footage which shows Gary Wilson and Colin Simmons (Jumayn Hunter) amongst others at the scene of Jasmine’s rape. Both men are quickly arrested.

Inspector Dale Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) visits Jasmine in hospital where she is being treated after her rape and attempts to get her to open up about the attack. Smithy takes Jasmine back to Sun Hill to pick up her mobile phone found at the rape scene and, with DC Grace Dasari (Amita Dhiri), he tries again to persuade her to talk but, feeling let down by the Police, Jasmine refuses to press charges. With a lack of DNA evidence and without a statement from Jasmine, the team have no option but to release Gary Wilson and Colin Simmons from custody. As Jasmine leaves the station, she is met by Gary and two other gang members – the very men accused of raping her. Smithy, Grace and DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) watch in bewilderment as Jasmine gets in their car and drives off.

Despite a lack of co-operation from Jasmine, the team are determined to find evidence linking the cases of Liam’s murder and Jasmine’s rape together. They continue to search for Derek Bailey (Femi Wilhelm) who has gone into hiding - Derek had called the ambulance following Liam’s stabbing and is a key witness but the team believe he’s now hiding from Gary Wilson and the rest of the Parkway crew. Meanwhile, CSE Eddie Olosunje (Jason Barnett) assesses the forensics at the scene of Jasmine’s rape, and finds evidence of a gun having been fired. Smithy and Sergeant Callum Stone (Sam Callis) surmise that someone within the gang had fired the shot as a warning to break up the situation in defence of Jasmine. But who pulled the trigger?

Still angered that Jasmine had been allowed to return to the estate after her initial questioning about Liam’s murder (leading to her subsequent rape), Mickey is determined to achieve justice for her. Jasmine was a previous informant who trusted Mickey, until she felt let down by him and the system. Anxious to make amends and re-gain her trust in the Police, Mickey pushes ahead in the search for Derek Bailey and has an informal chat with Ruby Collier (Shahnequa Duprey), a 13 year-old ‘mule’ used by the Parkway crew. He manages to persuade Ruby to tell him where Derek is hiding out.

Following Ruby’s tip-off, Stone eventually finds Derek Bailey in a derelict flat, with gun-shot wounds. As he goes to help Derek, Stone comes face to face with Gary Wilson who points a gun at his head. Stone activates his panic button and an armed response unit is called to the scene, but will he be able to persuade Gary Wilson to put the gun down before he pulls the trigger? Will Mickey finally be able to regain Jasmine’s respect and persuade her to make a statement? And what length will Meadows go in order to secure a confession for Liam’s murder?
