Emmerdale's resident bad boy Ross Barton has proved he's not a force to be reckoned with after shooting Robert Sugden .
Unfortunately for Nikhil Sharma, he's oblivious to his dark side when he returns to the Dales after two long years away - and it's not long before the two are at loggerheads.
Nikhil fled the village back in 2013 after Debbie Dingle’s psychopath boyfriend Cameron killed his wife Gennie.
Although he has come back a changed - and very rich - man, he can't forgive Debbie for the past, putting him in Ross' bad books.
“If you were put in Nikhil’s shoes and you knew that someone was partly responsible for the death of your wife, could you really forgive them?" actor Rik Makarem explained to the Express. "What I’ve come to conclude is that at this part of playing him is that this is one part that he can’t. There will be no forgiveness in that.”
The bad blood causes Ross to lash out at Nikhil over a pint at the Woolpack - and by the sounds of things, the drama doesn't stop there.
Admitting it probably wasn't the wisest idea to start a fight with an attempted murderer, Rik added: "[Nikhil] obviously has no idea of Ross’ true personality and actually the circumstances where Ross punches him catches Nikhil by surprise. I can promise you [what's about to happen] is exciting!
"It’s actually quite a sad situation. Here you have this man who’s been away form the village for quite a long time and has been asked to stay by his family, by obligation, and have to dug up all the depths of his emotions in regards to his deceased wife Gennie. In dealing with that, and facing that, Debbie is the demon in this situation. We’ve set something up so we’ll have to see what happens.”
