I've now seen the finale of Downton Abbey and thoroughly enjoyed it. There wasn't a dry eye in the house by the end, and I was pleased Violet got the last line. I guess some people would have found the ending too sentimental, but it left me feeling warm and fuzzy.
My only very slight disappointment is that nothing was said between Molesley and Baxter. I think we can safely deduce they'll get together but I'd like to have been rewarded with spoken confirmation of it. Also, I'd have liked Thomas to have found love, but I suppose realistically there's no way he could have a gay relationship whilst living at Downton.
I'm surprised none of you have commented. Can I take it from your silence that you have no complaints?

Ha ha....I thought the end would be too sentimental for some. It was very nearly too much for me as well, but just managed to stay on the right side of corny for my taste.
Do you mean when she instigated the rescue of Lord Merton? That was one of my favourite scenes!

I loved it and felt all warm and fluffy, but could have gone a bit more fluffy......
that said it had to end, and end on a lovely soft focus way
