A third Sex And The City movie will allegedly begin shooting soon.

According to The Sun, studio bosses are keen to move forward with another instalment in the comedy series before the lead actresses - Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon - start to look too old.

"There is also a third movie on the go. It's under wraps for publicity reasons," a source reportedly said. "It makes sense to film the second and third movies back-to-back. The characters will look a lot younger on screen when the third movie is out in a couple of years."

The insider added that a third SATC film spinoff will likely be the last: "They're keen to look as young as possible because that movie will be their last. They want to go out on a high."

Studio executives have dismissed speculation that they are planning to start work on Sex And The City 3.

Although the second film in the franchise is due to be released in the UK on May 28, it is being reported that cast and crew are already considering the next instalment.

Rumours about a third movie were fuelled further earlier today when star Kim Cattrall hinted that another project is on the horizon.

However, a rep for New Line Cinema has now brushed off the claims, saying: "This is not true."

Kim Cattrall has kept fans guessing about whether there will be a third Sex And The City movie.

The actress was appearing on the GMTV sofa to promote her forthcoming theatre debut in Antony And Cleopatra.

Kim, 53, who plays Samantha Jones in the TV and movie series, said "Who knows?" when asked by Emma Crosby if Sex And The City will return to the big screen.

She added: "I don't know. I haven't heard anything."

The star said she was focusing on her stage role in Shakespeare's epic tragedy at Liverpool Playhouse in October. She said: "It is one of the great roles ever written for a woman of a certain age and I wasn't going to let it go by."

The actress, who was born in Liverpool but raised in Canada, said her Cleopatra will be "different" to Elizabeth Taylor's legendary film portrayal.

There were also comparisons between the role, considered Shakespeare's strongest female character, and that of sex-mad Samantha.

Kim said: "I think they were both very strong women. The biggest difference is that Cleopatra had two men in her life, Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony, and Samantha had countless men. Samantha is iconic. She's a female Dionysus - really enjoys life.

"I love strong women. I'm drawn to them. I was brought up with strong women so I feel comfortable in their presence and in their skin. It's a challenge to play strong women because each one is uniquely different."

The star also advised the nation's men on chat-up lines - and told them to keep their mouths shut. Asked if she had a favourite chat-up line, the star said: "I've heard so many. I think the best thing to do is to say very little. Eye contact and smiling does a lot."
