BROOKSIDE fans itching to snap up one of the houses being prepared for sale could see their dream come true next year.

The 13 properties in the famous Merseyside Close will finally go on the market.

They were abandoned when the Channel 4 show got the chop in 2003.

Now fans of the Jordaches, Corkhills and Jacksons can buy their own plot - and live in it.

They could find themselves stretching out on the patio where wife-beater Trevor Jordache was buried.

The TV plot was one of the most dramatic storyline of the programme's 21-year run.

And stunning Anna Friel's lesbian smooch with co-star Nicola Stephenson remains one of the most talked about moments in soap history.

The show's creators Mersey TV bought the Liverpool properties in 1982 because they wanted to create a true-to-life setting.

But after the show ended each home was left an empty shell.

Most didn't even have running water, electricity, kitchens or a toilet.

Fans originally feared the properties would be bulldozed to make way for new builds.

But a year ago the entire street went under the hammer for a bargain £735,000.

The developers who originally bought a piece of soap history had hoped to clean up by selling it for £2million.

Punter

But the value plummeted as the recession kicked in.

Former Brookie actor Dean Sullivan - who played junkie Jimmy Corkhill - even put in an offer but was outbid by a mystery punter.

Now each home could sell for around £200,000 - a windfall for the auction bidder.
