Racism must have been a huge factor, with exit polls showing his highest proportion of voters being white middle-class Americans - particularly men but also women!

With the KKK in the US and the far right the world over celebrating today, all decent and fair-minded people should worry about what's happening in the western world - including the UK (where Theresa May and her cabinet are out UKIP-ing UKIP and much of our media inciting hatred and violence without reproach). We should all be fearful about where this is leading.

I did not expect her to win .. people are sick and tired of the Clintons, from what I gathered ... Donald Trump seems to be a breath of fresh air he is a business man (successful) rather than politician .. the thing I am concerned about is that he will need expert advisors to help him with making political decisions .. lets hope there are no loose canons amongst them ... I think if they had chosen Bernie Sanders to run for the Democrats instead of Hillary Clinton, the result might have been different ..

    Well he stinks to me!

He's not quite as successful as he boasts either. He inherited huge wealth from his father (it's a hell of a lot easier to increase wealth than it is to build it from scratch) and many of his business ventures have gone bankrupt. Plus there's the little fact that of his incredible tax avoidance.

There can be no loose canon worse than Trump. His advisers and the Republican party have spent the past few months in vain desperately trying to reign him in. But in the end his nastiness and volatility just made him more attractive to a huge swathe of voters...

I am not in favour of him, please don´t misunderstand but I have lots of family in the US who voted for him because they could not stomach another Clinton as president. It was their arguments I stated .. I have no knowledge of US politics and I certainly share concerns about Mr Trumps attitude ... I do believe though that a different runner for the Democrats would have made a difference to the outcome .. Mrs HRC was the wrong choice ..
