And finally, Coronation Street's Ken Barlow (William Roache) has a new job playing Santa Claus at the local department store but his cover is blown when his grandson Simon (Alex Bain) turns up with his other granddad George (Anthony Valentine).

Granddad wars soon erupt when George realises that the Santa he's taken Simon to see is actually Ken. A row breaks out between the pair and a furious George ends up ripping Ken's false beard off. Simon's stunned to see granddad number one behind the costume and it's not long before the store manager dismisses Ken from the grotto...

Detailed spoilers 10 and 11 December

Dev confronts Sunita about her engagement

Airs on Thursday, December 10 2009 at 20:30 GMT on ITV1

Simon tells Peter and Leanne about the row between his two granddads, while over at the Barlows', Deirdre has little sympathy for Ken, clearly believing he has brought it all on himself.

Realising that he's going to get little support from his family, Ken heads to The Rovers where he holds a protest meeting against the new wine bar in a bid to get the locals on his side. When Peter gets wind of what his dad's up to, though, he storms into the pub and tells Ken exactly what he thinks of him.

Meanwhile, Sally gently chides Kevin over forgetting their wedding anniversary. Irritated and feeling guilty, he points out that they can't celebrate two wedding anniversaries each year.

There's a surprise in store for Dev when he drops Bernie off at the golf club and sees his twins Aadi and Asha in Matt's car. Matt's forced to explain that his new fiancée is Sunita. With that, Dev goes to the house and Sunita apologies for not telling him about her engagement sooner. Will he give her his blessing?

Elsewhere, Carla tells the factory girls that the business is in a state and that Christmas is cancelled. Later, she's shocked to receive a letter from Tony in prison. She immediately bins it, but will she really be able to resist reading it?

Ken decides to write an article for the Gazette

Airs on Friday, December 11 2009 at 19:30 GMT on ITV1

Not deterred by Peter's refusal to spend Christmas with him and the rest of the family, Ken pushes on with his campaign to scupper the wine bar opening. Deirdre's horrified, though, when she hears that Ken plans to write an article for the Gazette opposing the plans.

In an attempt to deter him, she lets him know that he'll be spending Christmas alone if he does. When Ken finds Peter discussing the building plans with Bill Webster, he decides that enough is enough.

Meanwhile, Dev's preoccupied and Bernie's convinced that he's brooding over Sunita's engagement. Dev, however, denies her suggestion, but it's clear that he's been unsettled by the news.

He later goes to visit Sunita again but leaves feeling dejected when Matt returns with the children.

The plans for The Rovers' panto are in full swing and it isn't long before the bickering begins over who gets what role. Becky's delighted with the script and it's clear that she thinks she should be Cinderella, but it looks like she has some stiff competition.

Elsewhere, against her better judgement, Carla visits Tony in prison but she's shocked by what she finds; and Graeme's on his window cleaning round and enjoys winding Norris up over a 'stolen ladder'.

Tony makes a shock revelation to Carla

Airs on Friday, December 11 2009 at 20:30 GMT on ITV1

Carla's keen to know why Tony wanted to see her and she's irritated by his incoherent ramblings. Nothing, however, prepares her for when he finally gets to the point - he reveals that she didn't kill Jimmy and he sent him to ground…

How will Carla react to the bombshell after spending months believing that she had murdered someone?

Meanwhile, Dev's furious when Matt calls around and tells him to back off and stop upsetting Sunita and the children. Later, Bernie becomes tired of Dev's obsession with Sunita and Matt and storms out of the pub, leaving Dev free to go round to Sunita's again. When he starts rowing with Matt, Sunita threatens to stop Dev's access to the children.

The casting for the pantomime is quite a performance in itself as there's stiff competition for each role. The much-coveted part of Cinderella is a closely fought battle between Becky and Claire - but who will bag the lead role?

Peter is stunned when he receives a call from the Gazette asking for his side of the story. Peter storms round to Ken and Deirdre's house to let his father know exactly what he thinks. Deirdre's disgusted that Ken went behind her back and contacted the press.

Elsewhere, Graeme's agreed to fix Emily's broken window but makes the mistake of letting Norris hold the ladder...
