We are hearing whispers that a new love interest is on the horizon for Summer Bay's salad-tong wielding Leah Patterson-Baker!

The lonely widow, whose past relationships seem to have been doomed to failure, will finally find another long-term boyfriend in the form of a new character in early 2010 - which in turn will bring a strong presence of Leah in the stories for the first part of the year.

It is hoped that the new relationship will prove to be a popular pairing with Home and Away viewers.

The much loved soap star is understood to have split from Sydney businessman Adam Rigby at the end of last year.

?Everything is amicable,? a source close to the couple said. ?They remain friends but decided to go their separate ways.?

Rigby?s social media still features images of himself with Nicodemou?s son, Johnas, from her previous marriage.

Nicodemou, 46, is one of the most recognisable faces on Australian television.

She has played Leah on Home and Away for more than 20 years and before that was known for her work as Katerina on the original Heartbreak High.

Nicodemou and Rigby went public with their relationship after meeting at a work function in 2016.

The actor however has always been extremely protective and private about her personal life. She did not comment when contacted by Confidential.

It comes meanwhile after it was confirmed Nicodemou?s on-screen love interest James Stewart recently split from his wife, former Home and Away star Sarah Roberts.

Sources say Nicodemou and Stewart are friends and have been a strong support for each other over their mutual breakup.

On air, the couple?s relationship has gone to the next level with recent episodes featuring Leah and Justin (Stewart) getting married.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal the couple?s fairytale TV relationship has extended off-screen, with the pair now quietly dating.

The news comes after it was revealed that Nicodemou, 46, secretly parted ways with Sydney businessman Adam Rigby at the end of last year, and that Stewart has divorced from his ex-wife, fellow actress Sarah Roberts.

Prior to that he dated Australian actress Jessica Marais, with whom he has a daughter named Scout.

Nicodemou was married to Chrys Xipolitas for nine years but are believed to have split briefly in 2010, before reconciling and welcoming a son named Johnas in August 2012.

Rumours of a romance first came to light late last year when Nicodemou and Stewart were spotted kissing at a Seven Network Christmas party.

Most recently they were seen at the movies, holding hands and showing public displays of affection with one another.

?They weren?t really hiding it,? one onlooker told The Sunday Telegraph.

?They were holding hands and he touched her bottom numerous times.

?There was nothing platonic about it.?

The Sunday Telegraph approached both Stewart and Nicodemou for comment on Saturday however their agents did not respond.

According to someone close to both of them, given they had both recently come out of long-term relationships they have done their best to keep the relationship under wraps.

?They knew the spotlight would be on them if the secret got out,? they said.

?Fans of Home and Away are going to go crazy over this romance. They are such a loved on-screen couple on the soapie.?

Nicodemou and Stewart?s Summer Bay characters Leah Patterson and Justin Morgan tied the knot in March at a winery in Sydney?s Hunter Valley, after being one of the longest-running unmarried TV couples on Australian screens.

Both their social media pages are flooded with messages from fans talking about their palpable chemistry.
