Hollyoaks to film in Northern Ireland

Hollyoaks cast and crew members will travel to Northern Ireland next week to film a special storyline.

Five characters on the Channel 4 soap will be involved in a plotline which is being shot in Derry, UTV reports.

A show spokesperson confirmed: "Hollyoaks is known for its exciting storylines that often take viewers outside of the village.

"We are looking forward to shooting in Derry."

Derry is the UK City of Culture this year, and a number of its prominent landmarks are expected to feature on screen in Hollyoaks.

Shona McCarthy, chief executive of Culture Company 2013, added: "The city is looking so fantastic at the minute - I'm sure it's going to shine like a real star of the show when the storyline airs on Channel 4 later this autumn."

Filming is expected to take place over the course of five days.
