Emmerdale's Paddy Dingle surprises his estranged wife Chas with a final rejection next week.
Recent spoilers teased a possible reunion for the pair, who hit the rocks in December last year as Chas' affair with Al Chapman was exposed.
As previously revealed, this week's episodes see Paddy share a kiss with Chas while spending time with her and their young daughter Eve at The Woolpack.
Paddy and Chas spring apart when Eve interrupts by shouting them from upstairs. However, Chas later makes it clear to Paddy that she wants another chance to make their marriage work.
While the full details of the aftermath are being kept under wraps for now, new spoilers for next week have confirmed that it's not good news for Paddy and Chas' future.
Early next week, Chas is surprised when Paddy tells her that he has already been in touch with a solicitor about their divorce.
Paddy defends his decision by insisting that there's no use in prolonging things.
Paddy asks Chas whether she'd like to make a joint divorce application, but how will she respond?
Meanwhile, Lisa Riley ? who plays Paddy's ex-wife Mandy ? recently spoke about the possibility of her character reuniting with the village vet in the long-run.
Lisa told Inside Soap: "She just wants Paddy. But she's so frightened of getting hurt. We've got to play it out because Paddy's poorly.
"It's what the audience wants, but Paddy has to get well. Mandy knows him getting well is the better ending.
"You can't give the audience that too quickly. Otherwise, it's just like 'And then what?'"

Emmerdale's Mackenzie Boyd faces a big decision next week as Chloe Harris goes into labour on the day of his wedding.
Mackenzie is due to tie the knot with Charity Dingle after weeks of planning, but he must choose where his priorities lie after learning that Chloe has been rushed to hospital.
Show bosses have confirmed a chaotic build-up to Mack and Charity's big day.
On the eve of the ceremony, Mack and Charity have some fun by heading out in a replica A-Team van while wearing fancy dress.
Things heat up between the pair as they park up on a country road, but they're soon interrupted by PC Swirling.
Swirling reveals that the van was previously involved in a robbery. Although Mack and Charity had no idea of this, they're hauled down to the police station as suspects.
As Mack and Charity are put in cells, Swirling warns that they won't be leaving anytime soon. The couple are horrified as they realise that their wedding is now in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, back in the village, Chloe settles down for a pamper night with her friend Sarah Sugden.
When Chloe's waters break, she's taken to hospital and she prepares herself to meet her and Mack's baby.
The following day, Mack and Charity are both released from police custody after a night in the cells.
They fear that it's now too late to get married, but they're pleased when Moira and PC Swirling team up to get them back to the village in time.
The couple arrive back with seconds to spare, and Charles Anderson agrees to marry them in their costumes.
However, when Sarah announces that Chloe is in labour, Mack suddenly disappears with something urgent to do.
Charity fears the worst as her fianc? is now nowhere to be seen.
At the hospital, Chloe is emotional and relieved to see a mystery visitor enter the room ? is it Mack?

TUESDAY
A meeting between Moira Dingle and her soon-to-be-sister-in-law, Charity, starts out quite well.
Having been made 'best woman' by her brother Mack, Moira decides to invite his bride-to-be over for tea and cake.
As Moira shows Charity photos of Mack as a kid, she's given a great idea about what to get her new husband as a wedding present when Moira reveals he was a fan of the American kids' TV show The A-Team.
But the friendly chat soon disintegrates and when the women end up scrapping in Moira's hay barn, the farmer drops the wedding rings she was meant to be looking after!
At the cafe, Bernice has planned to spice up the vibe at her menopause meet-up group by organising a life-drawing class!
But when the model drops out at the last minute, it's Bernice who steps in.
Heath Hope, meanwhile, has got wind that a naked woman is going to be posing in the cafe but as Elliot is roped in to snap a pic, the teens are horrified to clock it's Bernice who's in the all together!
Samson tries to explain himself to Amelia. Given that he's been so horrible to her, will she allow him to tell the story of his mum's heartbreaking death?
WEDNESDAY
With Mack's wedding about to take place, the timing couldn't be any worse for his baby mama, Chloe Harris, to go into labour.
But that's exactly what happens as Chloe and Sarah settle in for a pamper night only for the expectant mum's waters to break!
Meanwhile, Mack hasn't got a clue about the development as he and Charity are locked in jail cells!
Earlier in the day, PC Swirling nicks them for driving a van that's alleged to have been used in a robbery!
Seeing as Moira gifted then the rental which is a replica of The A-Team van Charity ? who's dressed as 'Hannibal' while Mack is 'Face' ? becomes all the more convinced that Mack's disapproving sister is trying to sabotage their wedding day.
The couple panic when the copper tells them to settle in as they won't be going anywhere soon. What will this mean for their wedding?
At Home Farm, Nicky's mission to get married to Gabby as soon as possible backfires when she starts questioning his motives.
Is the fraudster about to get his undercover mission rumbled?
THURSDAY
It's the wedding day from hell for Mack and Charity.
When the big day dawns, they're still locked up in the cells having been accused of being part of a robbery!
While their loved ones start setting up for the ceremony, Charity and Mack have no idea if they're going to get out of jail let alone make it to the church on time.
At the eleventh hour, PC Swirling clears them of any wrongdoing and in a bid to make it up to the couple, with Moira's help, the copper races them back to the village in the A-Team van!
Though Mack and Charity are still in costume rather than their wedding finery they're keen to go ahead.
Village vicar Charles is persuaded to hold the overdue ceremony but when Sarah arrives to tell them the news that Chloe is in labour, Mack insists he needs to attend to something and promises he'll return.
But will he?
Is Mack about to jilt Charity and head to the hospital to witness the birth of his son?
Is this the moment the feisty Dingle mum finds out her man is the father of Chloe's baby?
FRIDAY
Laurel Thomas may have taken Marshall out of his troubled situation at home but she's convinced the teenager is bottling things up. Could he be hiding something? And if so, what is it?
Marshall's now living with Laurel, Jai, Arthur, Dottie and Archie rather than his homophobic abusive dad Colin who disowned him.
Are the mum's instincts right? Will Marshall open up to Laurel?

The A-Team van arrives at the village just in time and Charles agrees to marry Mack and Charity in their costumes. When Sarah tells them that Chloe is in labour, Mack disappears with something urgent to do.
At the hospital, Chloe's in pain in the depths of labour. As the door opens, Chloe is emotional and relieved to see a mystery visitor enter the room.
Meanwhile, Nicola reveals that Man Club are running a 5k. Bernice takes this as a challenge, announcing that she will run 10k.
