Corrie stars 'ordered to behave'

Coronation Street stars have been ordered to behave in future or face the sack, reports claim.

According to the Daily Star, show bosses have set out their intention to warn the cast after Sue Cleaver and Ryan Thomas were punished for driving offences last week.

"They have been told to keep their heads down and stay out of trouble. It's a case of sober up and take your job and your position seriously or get going," a source said.

"[New Executive Producer Phil Collinson] won't let people compromise the show by doing stupid things. He wants to keep Coronation Street the best soap around and if that means coming down hard, then so be it," the insider added.

Coronation Street bosses left the soap's cast baffled after ordering them to attend a group bonding session in a pub, a report has claimed.

The show's stars were summoned to Manchester's Barca bar just days after Weatherfield regular Sue Cleaver (Eileen Grimshaw) pleaded guilty to a drink driving charge, according to the Daily Star.

It is thought that Cleaver was not present for the meeting, but those who did turn up included Bill Roache (Ken Barlow), Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor), Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper), Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape) and Helen Worth (Gail McIntyre) among others.

Sources say that most of the cast left quickly and all of those who were driving stuck to soft drinks during their stay.

Reflecting on the meeting, one insider commented: "It seems strange after everything that has gone on. Everyone was on their best behaviour. Most of us reckon it was a bit of a test. If it was we all passed."

At the weekend, reports claimed that the serial's cast had been told to behave or face the sack.
