It looks like Bachelorette Brooke Blurton is about to return to our TV screens, but she's ditching reality TV gigs for a show we never expected.

That's right ? Brooke is about to join the cast of Neighbours!

Brooke announced the exciting news on Thursday morning, sharing a photo of herself grinning as she sat under a glowing Neighbours sign on a wall covered in greenery.

"Looks like some questionable acting with a wine and washing basket can land you a gig on Neighbours ✨ " she revealed in the caption on Instagram.

"Coming soon to you 😌 My mum and nan would be very proud! 💕"

She's not the first reality TV star to head to Ramsay Street, with fellow Bachelor alum Tim Robards and Australian Idol star Rob Mills also enjoying stints on the show.

Fans were delighted with the news that Brooke would be returning to their TV screens, commenting "How exciting!" and "Bring on Ramsay Street!"

Some even said they'd start watching the show just to see Brooke make her acting debut alongside other fan-favourites like Tim Kano and Zima Anderson.

One fan added: "OH MY GOD!!! Well I'm going to go back to watching Neighbours now."

The news that Brooke will be joining the cast comes after weeks of speculation about the show's future amid reports that Neighbours is on the decline.

After news broke that the long-running soap would be pulled off air in the UK, rumours started to spread that Neighbours was facing the axe.

But long-time fans are determined to keep it on the air, taking to Change.org in a bid to save Ramsay Street as filming halts in Australia.

They created a petition to save the show which has since received more than 50,000 signatures, proving Neighbours still has plenty of die-hard fans Down Under.

Meanwhile former stars voiced their support for the show, including iconic Home And Away and Neighbours actor Lincoln Lewis.

He shared two throwback photos alongside Neighbours stars Ash Brewer and Stefan Dennis from his four-week stint on the show back in 2011.

"Was sad to hear of the Neighbours news last week. It's an iconic show that countless people have grown up watching over its 37 years and has provided thousands of jobs for so many within the industry," he captioned the post.

Lincoln said he had an "awesome" time with the cast and crew, and wished them all the best in the future.

"Whatever happens, almost 4 decades of continuous entertainment is something to be massively congratulated!"

A guest spot or something more regular? one of the signs that the show is on the decline has been the over-reliance on guest spots while losing mainstays.

Unlikely that this addition would prevent the axe falling. That would be a budget decision. Unless she adds $20m worth of revenue, which i'd say is not going to happen.

They'd need more than $20 million in revenue to save Neighbours. That was just Fremantle's contribution and it's known Channel 5 was paying the bulk of costs, so it's likely the figure they need would be a lot higher.

No casting stunt is going to save Neighbours. Only someone with a fat wallet.

Although some media presume she was joining the ensemble cast, 10 confirmed to TV Tonight, ?Brooke Blurton will make a guest appearance on Neighbours in the coming months. She will be appearing as herself as a guest at one of the Fashion Festival events in an upcoming storyline.

?Brooke will appear in scenes with Neighbours legends Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis, Ryan Moloney, Rebekah Elmaloglou and Lucinda Cowden.?

Maybe if they hired actual actors instead of models and reality stars it wouldn?t be axed.

Actual actors, better writers.

They could have stopped with the 'she's a mysterious girl hiding a secret' trope for almost everyone arriving in the street to have a relationship with either Chloe, Nicolette, Ned or Levi.
They could have stopped giving Terese relationship drama.
They could have stopped the 'disaster event' idea.

For a while, at least. We're about to get another new girl, another disaster event just after the last one and Terese is going through yet another relationship drama. It's like the Simpsons; been on too long, they've done everything several times and the show is a shadow of its former self.

I get that Covid caused problems with filming, especially in a real life street during lockdowns, but dear me.. it's been a chore for a while now.

I mentally checked out when they had Toadie cheat on his beloved wife of X years during the Dee/Fake Dee thing. After seeing him on the show since he was about 14 years old, feeling like we 'knew' him and then seeing him throw it all away like that. Nope. Just undone his entire character.

A lot of "actual actors" on other soaps aren't as good as these models / reality stars on Neighbours!
