'Grey's', 'Private Practice' to crossover?

The executive producer of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice has confirmed that she is considering a crossover.

Shonda Rhimes told TV Guide that a special episode could happen next season.

Earlier this year, Caterina Scorsone signed up for a role in Private Practice as Amelia. The character is the sister of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), who appears in Grey's Anatomy.

"I would love to see what happens when Derek, his sister and their mum - because I love Tyne Daly - get together," Rhimes said. "I think that would be very interesting to see. We're possibly talking about that for next season."

The season six finale of Grey's Anatomy will air on May 20 on ABC, while the third season of Private Practice ends tonight at 10/9c on ABC.
