SPORTS host Ray Stubbs has quit the BBC after 26 years - to join rival ESPN.
The ex-Tranmere Rovers player, 53, had been fronting snooker, darts and Saturday afternoon football results for the Beeb.

But the opportunity to front ESPN's new Premier League coverage was too good to pass, Stubbs said.

The US network acquired rights to show 46 top-flight matches this coming season after Irish broadcaster Setanta collapsed.

Stubbs who has reported on ten international footie tournaments, makes his ESPN debut with Everton v Arsenal on August 15.

He said: "This was a difficult decision. I would like to thank all my BBC colleagues for their support and friendship over the years."

I doubt it, i think ESPN can offer a lot more money and i think that wil be what it comes down to. He will also get more premier league games, maybe commentary and not just match of the day. I think it probably is a good move for him. Hopefully they wont doa setanta and go bust.
