Sun Hill station is up in flames, seemingly in a terrorist attack… PC Gabriel Kent leaves PC Andrea Dunbar to burn in the fire which also destroys all evidence she has against him. On his way out Gabriel finds Sergeant Dale Smith trapped in the carnage. Will Gabriel leave Smithy to burn too, or will he seize this opportunity to be hailed as golden boy?
DC Ken Drummond was in the van when it blew and stood no chance of survival… The relief are devastated when the news is broken, particularly his good mate DC Jim Carver who realises that his life lies with wife Sergeant June Ackland. But she is being comforted by another. How will Jim cope with the discovery that June is having an affair?
Meanwhile SRO Marilyn Chambers lies in a hospital bed fighting for her life. In a tragic reconstruction of his intended proposal heartbroken PC Reg Hollis slips an engagement ring onto her finger. Moments later the cardiac monitor lets out an ominous beep. Is Marilyn going to make it?
Elsewhere it dawns on DI Neil Manson that Andrea could have been in the blaze…

The burnt out embers of the Sun Hill explosion reveal a catastrophic aftermath, with the entire front of the station completely blown away. The anti-terrorism squad and MIT are brought in to investigate, but PC Tony Stamp has a hunch much closer to home. He suspects that PCSO Colin Fairfax could be their man, and further investigation confirms links to a local extremist group. Is Colin a triple murderer?
Meanwhile, PC Reg Hollis and DI Neil Manson are both grief stricken at the loss of their loves. While Reg openly breaks down, Neil holds back because he is unsure of who knew about his relationship with PC Andrea Dunbar. Reg clings to Neil as a shoulder to cry on – will this cause Neil’s mask to finally crack?
PC Gabriel Kent is seen in a new light because of his courageous rescue of Sergeant Dale Smith. With troublesome Andrea out of the way, he seizes the opportunity to make a fresh start. But is visiting Smithy in hospital and giving him a born again gospel CD a step too far?
Sergeant June Acklane comes to terms with life without DC Jim Carver, and PC Leela Kapoor faces antagonism from the Asian community.
