Former Home & Away star Dieter Brummer lost his driving licence today after he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Brummer, who played Shane Parrish on the soap until 1996, was arrested in August when police caught him driving his Toyota Hilux near his home in North Bondi, Sydney.

The actor had reportedly been drinking in the Bondi Hotel for seven hours and police recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.125.

When Brummer's barrister George Coroneos asked magistrate Lee Gilmour to let him keep his licence, she replied: "That's not going to happen."

Gilmour suspended his licence for six months, but backdated the ban to August 4, the day he was arrested. She also fined him $700 as well as $70 fees for a mid-range drink-driving charge.

Brummer was photographed and fingerprinted by police after the sentence. As he left court his mother smiled to photographers and said: "He looks good anyhow."

The former star recently told a Sydney radio station that he is now a window cleaner.

Home And Away star Dieter Brummer has tragically passed away at age 45.

The TV WEEK Logie Award winner was reportedly found at his home in Glenhaven, Sydney on Saturday July 24.

The cause of the star's tragic passing is yet to be confirmed, however police are not treating it as suspicious.

"About 1.30pm on Saturday, July 24, Officers from from the Hills Police Area Command responded to a report of a concern for welfare at a home on Glenhaven Road, Glenhaven," a NSW Police spokesperson told the Daily Mail Australia.

"A body of a man was located inside the home, his death is not to believed to be suspicious. A report will be prepared for the information for the coroner."

The actor was best known for his role as Shane Parrish on the show, playing the character from 1992 until 1996.

Shane was half of one of Summer Bay's most iconic couples having wed Angel, famously played by Melissa George, in 1995.

Shane and Angel's nuptials were unforgettable, and not for good reason.

Paralysed when she was hit by Alf's car, Angel arrived at the church in a wheelchair, only to miraculously rise and shakily walk down the aisle.

Tragedy continued to haunt the couple with Shane dying of septicaemia on their first wedding anniversary after cutting himself on a wire which spelt Dieter's end on the soap in 1996.

While Shane and Angel are remembered as one of the show's standout couples, Dieter revealed to Woman's Day it wasn't all smooth sailing off-screen with co-star Melissa.

"We may have been love interests on the show but the chemistry was far from real," he told Woman's Day.

"Mel was incredibly ambitious right from the outset. I think she wanted to be the next Kylie Minogue."

Following his time as a Home and Away heartthrob, Dieter all but disappeared from the spotlight ? until his triumphant return as corrupt cop Trevor Haken in Underbelly seasons two and three.

Like many of his Home And Away co-stars Dieter then made the jump to Neighbours in 2011 moving to Ramsay Street for a brief stint as Captain Troy Miller.

His final television role was playing Jason Ross in beloved series Winner & Losers in 2014.

In recent months, the 45 years was reportedly running his own window cleaning business.
