EMMERDALE beauty Roxanne Pallett has been injured in a car smash while driving to the studio.
Roxanne, 23, was kept in hospital overnight for observation before being allowed to return home yesterday.
The star, who plays receptionist Jo Stiles in the ITV soap, had driven her car into a lamppost while trying to get on to the M62 motorway.
She was driving to Leeds for filming of Emmerdale when the accident happened at 8am on Friday.
Roxanne was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester after the crash.
She escaped with bruising but her silver Peugeot 206 has been written off.
Last night she was recovering at home with her family in Carlisle.
A friend said: "Roxanne's been really shaken up by the whole experience. She just feels grateful not to be seriously injured."
Roxanne had spent the night before the accident at the home of her boyfriend, former Coronation Street star Richard Fleeshman, 17, in Cheadle Hulme, Manchester.
An Emmerdale spokesman said: "We can confirm Roxanne was involved in a car accident on Friday morning.
"She was taken to hospital with bruising and kept in overnight as a precaution.
"She is resting at home and she'll return to work on Tuesday."
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police added: "No other vehicles were involved."
Roxanne shot to fame in 2005 after being cast as scheming Stiles.
