"What are you looking at?" growls Belle, when a botoxed Amanda attempts to raise her eyebrows at her in the hospital. The answer, of course, is her long-lost daughter - but Mandy can't pluck up the courage to reveal all. Only when Irene later mentions that Belle is planning to leave town does she realise that she needs to bite the bullet before it's too late. At the Beach House, Irene is making a last-ditch bid to get Belle to stay in Summer Bay when Amanda kicks the door down and causes a fuss. Belle is furious at coming face to face with her nemesis yet again, but we think she'd better listen up and listen good. After all, Amanda has something very important to tell her about the identity of her mother...

On Amanda's porch, Belle takes a deep breath. She's planning to confront her mother and hear her out, but changes her mind when she hears Amanda slagging her off over the phone. "Sorry to make your life so unbearable, 'Mum'", she fumes, before turning her back on her and heading home to rip up her beloved journal. It's not long before a desperate Amanda tips up at the Beach House, but she's horrified to see that Kitty has got there first! Belle is being swayed by Kitty's sickeningly trite apologies, and Amanda is disgusted that mummy dear has beaten her to it. A bout of shrieking and cackling ensues, and Irene arrives home just in time to witness the three of them recreating the first scene from Macbeth. She sends mother and grandmother packing, before dragging Belle to the sofa for a word. "Things aren't always black and white", croaks Irene, as she reveals that she once was an appalling parent too. Thankfully, her kids Finlay and Damien (Irene has always had a sense of humour) found a way to forgive her - but seeing as though Amanda later smashes a picture of Kitty against the wall, we doubt she'll be following suit.

Rachel is still buzzing around the hospital like a wasp in a jar. Kim is concerned that she's too busy playing superdoc to grieve for her mother, but Rachel insists that she wants to keep busy. Besides, her efforts seem to be paying off; she's persuaded one of Australia's top plastic surgeons to take a look at some of the minor burns victims. She's also organised a helicopter to take them into the city. Kim, Robbie, Belle, Kit and Martha are hugely appreciative, and promptly take to the skies. Meanwhile, Alf does his Town Father bit and dishes up a sermon on how the good folk of Summer Bay shouldn't let an accident like the one at Jack and Martha's nuptials crush their brave and noble spirits. Good on him for saying so, but we're not sure that anybody in town will be able to cope with the second human disaster in less than a week. Rachel turns white as a sheet when she puts down the phone and turns to face her friends. The chopper never made it to the hospital in the city as it flew into a storm and soon fell off the radar. A search has already been put into action, but there is very little chance that anyone will have survived a crash. "OMG!" we hear you type. How much more can one town take?
