Airs Monday, March 27 2006 at 16:35 GMT on BBC One

Janae narrowly escapes being caught by Karl, who confronts Boyd, assuming Boyd forgot to lock up. Meanwhile, Janae angsts that she may have caught a deadly disease from Mike, and may even have infected Boyd in turn. Janelle tries to ascertain the cause of Janae’s mood, but only learns how much she loves Boyd. When Boyd realises Janae staged the surgery break-in, he realises she needed to find out about Mike. He fails to reassure her that merely pashing Mike means she’s safe, and wonders if there’s another reason for her mood – does she still hold a candle? Janae, unable to admit she lied, and has put them both in jeopardy, seizes on this and agrees. Which is why she’s breaking up with him. It’s over. Boyd is gutted.

At rehearsals, Stuart’s arrival unsettles Ned, who rightly guesses Stu’s come to get a laugh at his expense. Elle defends Ned, telling Stu that Ned was in top form until Stu showed up. But a sceptical Stu continues brotherly sledging, admitting to Elle that he thinks what Ned is doing is a waste of time and energy – Ned should learn to read and get a real job. Elle defends Ned and accuses Stu of being a bad brother. Stu turns up to rehearsals and sees Ned is really talented. Having rethought, he offers Ned a gift – remedial English classes and the criteria for getting into the police force. But Ned angrily rejects Stu’s gesture as more evidence that Stu merely wants to put him down.

Sky deals with Elle’s jealousy that Sky got the lead role.

After meeting with the publisher, Janelle wants to market herself as sophisticated, but Bree argues the publisher wants to package her as an ultra-bogan.

'My Fair Ladder'
Airs Tuesday, March 28 2006 at 16:35 GMT on BBC One

Boyd refuses to believe Janae but she rejects him even more firmly, privately thinking he deserves better. Confused, Boyd asks Bree if Janae’s been seeing Mike. Bree angrily denies this – Janae only loves Boyd! Boyd realises Janae must be worried about Mike’s, and therefore her own, health status. After a call to KidsHelpLine, Janae confides to Bree. When Boyd returns to reassure that Mike’s illness can’t be passed by kissing, Bree urges Janae to tell Boyd the truth. She can’t bring herself to, and Bree’s forced to confide in Kim. Kim gently but firmly whisks Janae off to be tested but, before she can go in, Boyd arrives to talk her around. Janae’s forced to tell him what really happened between herself and Mike.

Guilty about losing Dylan’s money and letting the boys down, Kim asks Max for a pay advance, which Max refuses. Tension rises and, when Bree tells Kim about Janae, Kim regretfully but firmly tells Max he has to leave work for family reasons. After last week’s “family business” that turned into a surfing trip, Max is sceptical, and tension increases as Kim leaves anyway. If he can’t be a good employee, at least he can be a good dad.

Janelle stalls on the new draft of her book, obsessing about her author’s photo. She complains to Kim that she’s lost her mojo because she’s too happy with her life. This is cause for concern for Kim, who is hoping the money from a book advance might solve his temporary money issues. He tells Janelle how he lost Dylan’s money and, to his surprise, she’s delighted – this gives her conflict to dwell on!

Toadie outlines a problem case to Connor, and beguiles him into helping out with some private investigator work. But Toadie’s disguise for Connor - and an ill thought out plan - end in Connor injured and only too ready to sue Toadie.
