Connor feels so smothered by Harold’s dependency; he decides to move out of the house. Without his lifeline, Harold struggles to keep his grief in check and, in desperation, begs God for a sign. His prayer seems to be answered when Harold finds a letter written by David claiming the world would be a better place without Paul in it and in this, Harold finds justification to enter Paul’s house and strangle Paul to death.
Once more, Drew visits Steph in her dreams, this time delivering the ominous message that Steph has no future with Max. Believing her husband is in danger, Steph forbids Max from leaving the house. When Max and Boyd attempt to appease her and inadvertently mention her previous battle with cancer, the penny privately drops for Steph. Steph’s fears are confirmed when she discovers a lump in her breast, and she reports this to her ashen husband.
Steph, Max and Lou learn that Lyn has been working for Paul. Lyn defends herself, but Steph and Lou are disapproving and accuse her of dancing with the devil.
Toadie and Janelle do battle in the annual Rebecchi/Timmins Boxing Day smackdown. With family pride at stake, the two go to great lengths to “egg” the other unawares. Although Toadie does his best, he is no match for canny Janelle.

'Take My Breath Away'
Airing Tuesday, 14th March 2006 at 17:35 on BBC One

Reconciling with Sky and throwing himself into work at the General Store, Harold attempts to return to normal life. However, the cracks soon begin to show. On learning Paul has survived and the police are investigating the incident, Harold is haunted by memories of the attack, his guilty conscience fighting to be heard. However, when visiting Paul’s house to offer his sympathies, Harold draws strange satisfaction from seeing Paul trapped in a private paranoid hell. Will Harold be able to resist making Paul suffer further?
Izzy’s world is jolted when she discovers an apparently lifeless Paul. Faced with the prospect of losing Paul, Izzy realises how much he means to her. When Paul is revived and recovers, Izzy shares her epiphany. Although touched, a paranoid Paul is pre-occupied, obsessed with home security and determined to find his attacker, whom he’s unable to identify. Reluctantly, Paul agrees for Ned to stay at the house to protect Elle, conceding his family’s safety must come before male pride.
Steph and Max’s worst fears are realised when tests confirm her breast cancer has returned. Luckily, since the cancer has been caught so early and Steph’s pregnancy is so far along, a full recovery for mother and baby is highly probable. However, Steph vows that as long as there’s the slightest chance the baby will be harmed, she will refuse treatment.
Ned returns from Oakey after a difficult family Christmas to find Stuart the local hero. Old resentments threaten to bubble to the surface

Susan and Connor both notice changes in Harold’s behaviour and it leads him to question his frightening act of vengeance against Paul. But when he hears Lyn rail against the injustice of the tragedy befalling Steph, it only fuels his resolve anew. Determined that he will not let evil triumph, he begins a strategy to exacerbate Paul’s paranoia.
Max is appalled by Steph’s decision to refuse treatment for her cancer and his frustration reaches boiling point when it becomes clear that both Izzy and Boyd support her decision. Max declares that if he is forced to choose, then he values Steph’s life above that of their unborn child. Moved by his turmoil, Steph asks Max to make a leap of faith and trust that both she and their child will come through this ordeal unscathed.
Toadie’s snowed under at work and Stu suggests he knows the perfect person to help out: Connor. Is this the beginning of a thaw between the estranged friends?
Izzy’s questioned over the attack on Paul and in the process, learns that Paul made her a beneficiary of his will. 'Stick It To The Man'
Airing Thursday, 16th March 2006 at 17:35 on BBC One

Increasingly anxious after his threatening phone call, Paul has a panic attack and derives comfort from Harold, oblivious to the fact that Harold is deriving satisfaction from Paul’s suffering. Losing touch with reality, Harold tries to rationalise his treatment of Paul with Old Testament “righteousness”, and preaches to others about “sinful” behaviour. Sky is concerned by her Grandad’s behaviour and avoidance of his Salvation Army duties. But Harold cannot bring himself to don his Salvo uniform because, in his heart, he knows that his behaviour is deeply wrong.
Kim takes a job at Lassiter’s, determined to support his family, but his good intentions count for little when he clashes with the boss. Threatened by Dylan’s hero-worship of Paul, and Paul’s cold and lofty attitude, Kim throws in the job, telling Paul where to stick it. Janelle fumes at this “typical” Kim behaviour, cursing her husband’s stupid pride. Fed-up with Kim bad-mouthing Paul, Dylan slams his “juvenile” father – the Timmins family were better off without him!
Dylan is doing well - Paul has given him an opportunity to start his own small business, and he and Sky are closer than ever.
Boyd starts his admin job at the surgery and watches Karl like a hawk - determined to learn all he can and become the kind of doctor capable of helping people like Steph.
When Kim asks for a look at “The Bogan’s Tipped Hair”, Bree pulls an all-nighter to edit out Janelle’s Kim-bashing. Will she be able to single-handedly save her parents’ marriage?

'Turtle Eclipse of the Heart'
Airing Friday, 17th March 2006 at 17:35 on BBC One

Katya counsels Rachel about her own experiences grieving the death of their mother. Susan misinterprets that Katya’s perhaps being instructional, and when Rachel goes missing, tension arises. Rachel hooks up with Stingray, who is still depressed following his prison experience. They open up to each other, and Rachel, inspired by her sister’s words decides on action. Feeling the trip she, Zeke and Susan are taking to Belarus is pointless without her dad; Rachel breaks into the University and steals the economic department’s mascot (Alex’s pet turtle). A hue and cry ensues for the missing teens, but by the time they’re found, both Rachel and Stingray have worked a few things out of their systems. Susan smoothes out the problems, and inadvertently sidelines Katya in the process. Katya vents her unresolved grief and guilt as fury at Susan – she’s lost her mum, her dad, and now Susan’s taking her siblings too!
Kim bites back on anger, and Janelle defends him to Dylan. While Kim goes out and hits up Max for a job, Janelle, fearful of losing Kim again, convinces Dylan to not push his dad away. Finding Kim determined to stay and prove himself, Dylan agrees to a truce. Meanwhile, Stingray goes missing with Rachel, and Janelle fears that Stingray’s depression will only deepen. She’s relieved when all’s well, and her Scottie’s better for having helped the grieving kid across the road.
Bree ensures Janelle stays on track with the plan to have Kim read the censored manuscript – he mustn’t find out how his alter-ego (as painted by Janelle in the real manuscript) is described in the worst possible terms.
