Can someone please help me with my computer.

It refuses to start. If i dont put it onto safe mode i just get a blank screen.

It was working fine the last time i used it and has all the anti spyware and virus software on it so i dont think any of that could have got in.

I'm at a complete loss :wall:

please if anyone has any ideas HELP!!!

Do you have a rescue disk?

That happened to me one time and I had to re-install my operating system.

Hmmmm. What operating systme do you have? Is it asking for the operating system disk? Is that what Master CD 1 is?

The chances are that you had a virus that has erased one or some of the files that Windows requires to start your computer.

XP if that's what you mean by operating system (don't know much about computers)

Master CD1 is part of the recovery for Packard Bell computers (apparently)
there are 4 in total.

Think i just need to get a new computer??

Hmmmm.....I dunno about a new computer but it does sound like an irrepairable problem. Ring the helpline and ask them what to do. I don't think you will need a new comp because it is possible to reset the hard drive and fix the prob without the disk but your computer would be just like a brand new one, with only the very basic files. Ask Mordor, he is a computer whizz.

You're welcome! I had the very same problem but they told me how to reset the computer without the disk by holding a button during start up but I can;t remember which one!

You don't need to buy a new computer!!! You are able to go into safe mode,so its not your hard drive. Ive had a similar problem before and all I did was reinstall xp. You just put the first of your packard bell cds in, restart your computer and it should boot up.

Awright, this is what you need to do.

Once you get into safe mode, press the windows key and e together which will bring up explorer. Right click on the C: drive in explorer, and the select properties. Click the tools menu, and then hit the Check Now button in the error checking panel. Select the two options that come up (fix and scan) and hit start.
You'll gt a message saying it can't be done now, but do you want to do it a next bootup. Hit yes and reboot.

Next time you rebot it'll check your harddisk for any errors. It may or may not fix your problem. if no, then we move on to the next step :)

I forgot about the wonderful chkdsk , I've had so many problems with my computers over the years, though I find many are relatively simple to fix. I suggested putting the cds in and then booting up, cause normally it takes you to the windows set up screen, and you do have the option of repairing windows.

Windows is such a pain though! One of these days I'm going to delete it and just have linux on my pc.
