Turner mentions to Terence that Viv had noticed some tension between him and Steph. Terence, seeing an opportunity to cause friction for Betty, gives the impression that it’s her that can’t be trusted to keep quiet. When Turner confronts Betty about her behaviour towards Terence, Betty states there may be something to Steph’s claims of abuse. Outraged at Betty’s disloyalty, Turner turns on her and states that the sooner he and Terence move out, the better.

Elsewhere, Nicola discovers that Simon gave Lesley cash to make herself scarce. Simon confronts Nicola about the money and he accuses her of having no idea how to save. Lesley comforts Nicola but feels awkward in the knowledge that Simon is testing her by keeping back the money.

Also, Chas worries that Tom will think she is a bad influence on his grandchildren when they pay a visit but is surprised when Tom seems impressed. After a successful day, Chas despairs to Carl that despite being great with other people’s kids, her own son still hates her. Carl suggests that Aaron come to stay, reasoning that she’s got to keep trying.

Adam is worried for Betty after she discovers Turner and Terence are moving out, but she insists she wants to be left alone. Later, Adam is convinced that something is going on with Steph but initially she refuses to admit she is being threatened by Terence. However, will she buckle under the pressure from Betty and Adam and admit the truth?

Meanwhile at a palm reading evening, Nicola is miffed when she’s told her love life may be in trouble. When Simon returns from the pub Nicola showers Simon with affection but an argument ensues. Can Lesley convince Nicola the predictions are nonsense?

Also, Tom discovers his visitors are arriving a day earlier than expected and asks Pearl whether Nicola is still providing silver service catering. Pearl spots an opportunity to raise cash to fund her trip to Hong Kong and she tells Tom she has taken over that side of the business and agrees to provide staff for the night. Pearl is chuffed until Len reminds her she’s yet to find the man power.

Nicola flicks through Simon’s phone and is horrified to discover several texts and phone calls to and from Tash. Nicola is convinced that Simon is having an affair but Lesley explains about the money Tash has paid back, forcing her to confront Simon. He explains that he was testing her abilities to live without lots of money and believes she’s more in love with the lifestyle they used to have. Furious at being tested, Nicola takes off her engagement ring. Lesley takes Simon to the pub where he admits he doesn’t love Nicola and an appalled Lesley heads back but to hear Nicola confess she’s not sure she wants to be engaged to Simon anymore. Is this the end for Simon and Nicola?

Elsewhere, Turner tells Terence that his offer on Tug Ghyll has been accepted but he reveals that he is having problems re-mortgaging the B&B because of his age and health. Len suggests he and Terence have a joint mortgage to make it easier but Terence is rather reticent.

Meanwhile, at the Woolpack, Paul mentions that Steph hasn’t been around recently. Betty finds Steph in a state and reports back to Adam, determined something should be done about Terence and suggesting they call the police after all. Adam is firm that if Steph doesn’t want that, there’s nothing they can do.

Lesley and Ivan force Simon and Nicola together for a head to head to sort out their differences. Simon traces their problems back to when he lost the business and is adamant that Nicola only wanted Simon the entrepreneur, not Simon the man. Nicola is hurt and claims the problem is that he has lost his drive and ambition. As the discussion descends into hurtful mud-slinging the couple agree their relationship is over. Nicola is adamant that Simon will be moving out of Mulberry cottage but Simon insists the house is his!

Meanwhile, Adam insists that Steph join him for a drink in the Woolpack and when Terence enters Adam insists that Steph stay. Terence points out to Jimmy that it’s strange Adam would choose to be with Steph considering her history. Casting aspersions on Adam’s sanity, Jimmy jokes that birds of a feather flock together. The remark leaves Terence thoughtful.

Also, Turner breaks the news to Terence that the joint mortgage has been turned down because of Terence being blacklisted for his debts. Terence claims it was just a few forgotten bills but Turner is worried about the extent of his debts.

Ivan offers Nicola some support over her break up and she finds herself falling for him even more. As he offers a shoulder to cry on, Nicola mistakes his concern for attraction and finds herself staring at him adoringly. Ivan’s perturbed by Nicola’s affection and can’t help but wonder if she’s trying to make a pass at him. How will he react?

Paul apologises to Ivan for going through his phone and to prove his trust asks Rodney if he can give Ivan a key to the house. Rodney is unsure but Paul reveals how much Ivan means to him. Ivan is touched when Paul later gives him the key and afterwards Paul confides in Diane that he may have finally found Mr Right.

Meanwhile, Terence is evasive as Turner probes him about his debt but finally admits he owes £20,000. Turner visits the B&B and reveals to Steph that he is using the B&B as a guarantee against a loan for Terence. Terence is grateful when Turner explains he is paying off his debts for him but Steph’s fears deepen.

Having been invited for dinner at Millbrook Cottage, Nicola makes a special effort and dresses to kill. Later, having had too much to drink Nicola makes a pass at Ivan. Feeling bitter about being rejected, Nicola takes Rodney aside and expresses her concern that Paul will end up heartbroken as she doesn’t think Ivan is really gay. Rodney starts to worry for Paul and Nicola is satisfied that she’s made him suspicious.

Elsewhere, Aaron arrives but clearly doesn’t want to spend time with Chas. Carl advises Chas to get to know Sandra, Gordon’s new partner, to impress Aaron. Aaron sees through the plan and deliberately calls Sandra ‘Mum’ to hurt Chas. Later Aaron heads straight to his room and despite Carl’s reassurance, Chas realises she’s got a lot of work ahead.

Also, Louise is dreading the thought of singing at the curry-oke night. Louise practices a few songs and, having been listening in, Diane decides to tell her the truth about how bad her singing is so that she doesn’t make herself look a fool. Louise, however, mistakes Diane’s concern for jealousy and tells her that when she gets up to sing there will be a lot of surprised people.
