oohh our last game is against england... can't wait for this to start again... maybe this time is Ireland's turn

myra129
20-01-2006, 12:41
Im from Wales and our first match is against England, but with Henson out for the first 3 matches I dont think we have a chance of repeating last years amazing win :)

Siobhan
20-01-2006, 12:48
That was just a fluke... I reckon France will win it again and there will be no 3 crown winner this year...

myra129
20-01-2006, 12:54
Yeh your probably right, I'd love it if we did it again though, I went out last year and atmosphere was amazing, my m8 acctually cried when we won lol.

Lets hope so. I hope they play David Humphries in place of Ronan O'Gara :cheer:

Lets hope so. I hope they play David Humphries in place of Ronan O'Gara :cheer:

Is Ronan back to fitness level? and is stringer going to be in the line up too.. they work so well together and are very strong against opposition

Heres the Squad (http://www.irishrugby.ie/newspage/69214.html)

Ireland played really well against Wales last year, you've got a strong team.

Katy
20-01-2006, 15:56
i love the six nations. I hope ireland can do it this year they were so good last year.

myra129
20-01-2006, 19:30
Where are u all goin to watch the matches? In the pub or at home? Ill probably watch at home then go out afterwards :) Any excuse for a girls night out :rotfl:

Jojo
21-01-2006, 00:45
I hope England carry on the way they did against the Southern Hemisphere at the end of last year - I see it going to France this year though and sorry all you welshies (inc my hubby) but you aint gonna get it again this year :D :D

CrazyLea
21-01-2006, 00:55
wooo go wales :cheer: we are so gunna win ems!!!! haah :p

Chloe O'brien
21-01-2006, 01:00
my sister is a senior care worker for the brother of Scottish rugby coach as he is disabled anyway do you know that he doesn't even get his own brother free tickets to the games. Do you not think that is terrible

Jojo
21-01-2006, 01:27
wooo go wales :cheer: we are so gunna win ems!!!! haah :p:rotfl: Ummm, not lets see, what are the chances of that :hmm: worth a bet considering the excellent odds you'd probably get :rotfl:

my sister is a senior care worker for the brother of Scottish rugby coach as he is disabled anyway do you know that he doesn't even get his own brother free tickets to the games. Do you not think that is terribleThat is awful - you'd think he would get some for him. Why on earth doesn't he?!

Chloe O'brien
21-01-2006, 01:31
i don't know em his brother was injured in a car accident 6 years ago before that he was a successful business man and a superfit sports guy i can only assume that he is embaressed by his brother being disabled and in a wheelchair

Jojo
21-01-2006, 01:34
Well, that is pretty disgusting if that is the case - can't stand people with issues like that.

I love this time of year though, especially when Wales and England meet. Its like world war 3 in our house and the amount of cursing that goes on - its quite funny really!!

Chloe O'brien
21-01-2006, 01:56
i used to be a chambermaid years ago in a number of hotels in edinburgh and the time of the rugby was one of the busiest times but the most enjoyable the welsh and irish were fab!!!

Katy
21-01-2006, 14:42
i cant see Wales doing it again especially without Henson for the first three games. It should be a good competition.

Jojo
21-01-2006, 14:44
I think its going to be a lot closer this year than in previous

Katy
21-01-2006, 14:48
definatly, Lets hope they play better individually than they did as the lions. Brian ODriscoll should be good for Ireland therve missed him. England have a good chance as well, apparently Lund has been called up for them and he is really good.

myra129
21-01-2006, 14:52
I'd love it if Wales did it again this year, but to be honest I think if we win just one match we will be lucky :( With henson being out for the 1st 3 matches i think we dont stand a chance and the worst thing is he isnt playing for the England match :crying: :wall:

Jojo
21-01-2006, 14:55
Don't forget though, with the likes of shayne williams, charvis and the hair bear bunch on the front row, you still have an excellent chance. Henson is just one player.

My hubby nearly had tickets from a customer for the England Wales game - then it fell through - gutted!!!

Katy
21-01-2006, 14:56
I think everyones main worry is France. Sebastien Chabal could tear apart most teams apart by himself hes like a train.

myra129
21-01-2006, 14:58
Yeh i know what u mean about having good players but did u see the Wales v New Zealand match? I turned it off halfway through, couldnt believe how bad they were playing and i know one man cant win the match I just have more hope when hes playing :(

Jojo
21-01-2006, 14:58
Definitely, how did France do in the Southern Hemisphere matches - I only managed to catch the England and Wales games....these can be a fairly good sign of how they are playing..

Katy
21-01-2006, 15:01
New Zealend are in a different league all together, there amazing. It all depends on the games you never know with the 6 nations. I mean last year everyone thought England would win after the world cup and everything but Wales surprised us all.

Jojo
21-01-2006, 15:04
But then in my mind, everyone was so wrong to expect England to win after the world cup as half of the squad retired following it!! Wales have always been looking at coming through - their performances have been getting better over the past few seasons, so I think it will definitely be a close one this year

Katy
21-01-2006, 15:08
close is the key word. I dont know if youve been watching any Heineken cup games but ther aer some amazing players ging through to international level. Sale have some amazing players, for all countries.

Im really looking forward to all game. Ive even got my new Ireland shirt.

Jojo
21-01-2006, 15:52
Been watching some of the Heineken Cup Games, though not as many as i would like, but with a screaming baby hey, what can you do lol!!!

I can't believe that Dalleglio has been picked for the England Squad though - whats going on!!! He retired from internationals 2 yrs ago!

myra129
21-01-2006, 17:48
Well the 1st match is the most exciting of them all I think :) 2 weeks today Wales v England :cheer:

Katy
21-01-2006, 17:52
yeh should be interesting. Im lookig forward to Ireland England.

myra129
21-01-2006, 17:56
Are you going to see any of the matches? My m8 was on about doing a trip up to cardiff on the 4th and watching the match in one of the pubs by the stadium, but if wales lose there'll probably be loads of fighting so we decided not too.

Katy
21-01-2006, 18:00
ill probably just watch it on the telly with a few mates. Id love to go to landsdowne road one day as the atmosphere would be amazing. Any live sporting event is.

Jojo
22-01-2006, 00:16
Can't believe the opener is England Wales (at Twickenham). Looks like hubby and I will be arguing that day lol

Wouldn't have thought there would be much fighting though Myra - the number of internationals i have watched at millenium and if wales have lost, i have never seen any fights in the pubs at all...

myra129
22-01-2006, 00:24
Reallly? I might go up then, I live in Neath so its a 25 min train journey if its too late to organise a minibus.

Jojo
22-01-2006, 00:56
Admittedly, its a bit different when England Wales are playing, but I have been to a fair few internationals against the southern hemisphere teams etc and though the coppers have been out in force, there haven't been any probs that i have seen and we have always managed to drive through the centre of cardiff back home again.

myra129
22-01-2006, 00:58
Thinking about it, ill probably be drinking in a pub when match is on and then when its over straight in a taxi to train station then back to Neath.

If you hear of drunken woman falling into Cardiff docks that'll be me

Katy
22-01-2006, 10:27
lol. I doubt ter will be any trouble either. Its not like football. After wtching some of the sale players last night, they had bette improve otherwise they might not reach the 6 nations.

Amz84
24-01-2006, 00:29
Come on England!! we will win it this year!!

Jojo
27-01-2006, 17:17
If any of you Welsh fans out there are interested, tickets for Scotland and Italy at Millenium Stadium (or at least ones that are left) will be on sale to the general public from Monday 30th Jan

Jojo
27-01-2006, 17:19
Seeing as I can't see my previous post to edit it, what I should have said was tickets for the Wales v Scotland and Wales v Italy matches will be up for grabs - the way i said it made it seem like Scotland were going to play Italy at Millenium, so wanted to clarify, but can't see my original post to be able to (sorry mods :D)

Katy
27-01-2006, 17:43
i htough that. I was like why would Scotland Play Italy in Wales. Got me all confused.

myra129

Katy
04-02-2006, 16:29

England for the grand slam!!!!!!! :D

Jojo
05-02-2006, 00:41
Dont start to sound like that prat Jeremy Guscott :pI'm an England fan (being English of course :D ) and I can't stand Jeremy Gussett (as my welsh (haha) hubby and I call him)

England weren't at their best in the first half, in fact they were pretty dire, but the second half as soon as Dalleglio came on - a lot better. They play far better when they play a running game

hayley
05-02-2006, 23:04
yay both my teams won!!! :cheer:
This rarely happens escpeially when they play each other i never no who to support!!!
I was born in Northern Ireland and lived there for a bit my nationality is british/irish but i live in England so im always stuck!!!

06-02-2006, 11:25
i can't believe Scotland won how fab was that they were brilliant

Jojo
06-02-2006, 11:27
I haven't seen them play like that for a couple of years now - they have really got their game together and to beat France in their opening match even better :D I'll support any team that beats them :rotfl:

I think the Wales v Scotland game is going to be a corker this weekend, especially after Scotlands performance against France, that would have given them loads of confidence and Wales will be up for it after their defeat by England (aww what a shame that was :rotfl: ) :D

alan45

Ive resigned myself to the fact Wales are gonna lose all the matches :( its easier that way :crying:

Katy
07-02-2006, 17:22
well done to Scotland they were ace. I think Ireland had better sharpen up there game if there in for a chance of winning. I really enjoyed all the games. And Italy were not half as bad as people were making out.

Jojo
07-02-2006, 17:31
Ive resigned myself to the fact Wales are gonna lose all the matches :( its easier that way :crying:I just thought - I only say these things because my hubby is welsh mind, no one welsh take offence please

myra129
07-02-2006, 17:54
I didnt take offence :) I knew England were gonna beat us before the match even started, I did think we could have beaten Scotland but after watching them play I dont think so anymore... ah well at least I can say ive seen them win the Grand Slam at least once in my lifetime :)

Siobhan
07-02-2006, 18:19
I was surprised by the scotland result but I am glad in a way.. France has become a bit to big for there boots over recent years.. Ireland need a kick in the ass...

Jojo
08-02-2006, 01:33
I didnt take offence :) I knew England were gonna beat us before the match even started, I did think we could have beaten Scotland but after watching them play I dont think so anymore... ah well at least I can say ive seen them win the Grand Slam at least once in my lifetime :)Phew, thanks myra - I suddenly thought that those of you that didn't know I was married to a welshman, might have thought i was being offensive. Though I didn't think England would win to be honest - but so glad they did or i wouldn't have heard the end of it.

I was very surprised at the Irish result - the last try shouldn't have been awared for sure, i'm surprised at Ireland though, thought they would have had it in the bag, but Italy are definitely getting a lot better each year

myra129
09-02-2006, 19:22
The Scots started arriving in my town today ready for the match on Sunday :) Looks like their making a long weekend of it

The Scots started arriving in my town today ready for the match on Sunday :) Looks like their making a long weekend of it :lol:Blimey - sounds like they are, but I can't see them hitting the pubs quite yet though - go have a look for me :D

alan45
09-02-2006, 23:51
I hope Ireland do well against France but they would need to be a hell of a lot better than they were against Italy

Jojo
10-02-2006, 01:12
They all need to start playing better - England could have easily lost the game in the first half, and were lucky they came out "fighting" in the second. Ireland (sorry Alan) were lucky they didn't have the game drawn after the (no) try was awarded. Scotland  well done lads, excellent game - it will be interesting to see what this weekend brings

myra129
10-02-2006, 08:37
Drove through town last night and all the pubs were packed lol. I cant wait for this weekend :)

Katy
10-02-2006, 15:43
they reallly are making a weekend of it. I dont blame them. I cant wait for the Ireland game im really looking forward to it. England are looking in top for form. maybe they will win it.

alan45
10-02-2006, 15:46
Judging by the first week's matches Scotland certainly seem to me to be the better team

Siobhan
10-02-2006, 15:49
I have to agree with you alan, England only looked that good cause wales was so poor. Ireland needs a kick up the ass and my god, what happened with the French. Italy, well we expect them to be the walkover.

Personally I can't wait for the Ireland/Scottish match, there is alway a great athmosphere in Dublin when they are over

Jojo
10-02-2006, 15:50
Judging by the first week's matches Scotland certainly seem to me to be the better teamI totally agree with you there Alan - England could easily have lost it in the first half - I didnt think they looked that strong at all, not until Dalleglio came on. It could well be Scotlands year if the others dont sort themselves out

Katy
10-02-2006, 15:51
i love it all. Italt and Scotland were both pretty much written off before the competition started i think they were showing everyone that there not as bad as we all think.

alan45
10-02-2006, 15:52
Ireland need to bring on David Humphries and give Ronan O'Gara a rest though.

myra129
10-02-2006, 15:53
I think this weekend will be a big decider for Scotland and not because we won the grand slam last year its just because Wales more or less always beat Scotland and if they beat us to a big points difference then I think they could take the whole six nations... and good on them if they do its about time some of the smaller, less stronger teams showed England they aint always gonna win :) :moonie: :rotfl:

Katy
10-02-2006, 15:54
yeh i agree there i think Ireland rely to much on O gara even though he is an amazing player, other players need a chance to shine. They have a really good side they need to mix and match it a bit.

alan45
10-02-2006, 15:56
its about time some of the smaller, less stronger teams showed England they aint always gonna win :) :moonie: :rotfl:

I wonder who beat Engerland last year in the Rugby Oh yes and I think they were beaten at the football too :rotfl: :moonie:

Jojo
10-02-2006, 16:07
I wonder who beat Engerland last year in the Rugby Oh yes and I think they were beaten at the football too :rotfl: :moonie: Problem with England though is for some reason we are viewed as THE team to beat and we might be the holders of the world cup, but we havent got the same team as the one that won it - still, we beat Wales and just for the fact that meant i could wind my hubby up, i wouldnt really worry if they lost their other games :D (Though I want them to win of course.) I'll be wearing my new England beanie hat kindly purchased from Twicks for me last weekend to show my support :D

Siobhan
10-02-2006, 16:11
Aldi's did a big Irish rugby range this year so I have my shirt for tomorrow game

Jojo
10-02-2006, 16:15
Aldi's did a big Irish rugby range this year so I have my shirt for tomorrow gameI have my shirt (not that it fits at the mo) and my new beanie hat and my mug - my lads have them too, Ci had the choice of his welsh or english shirt last weekend and chose very wisely - his england one!

myra129
10-02-2006, 18:10
Em, I know what you mean about England being the team to beat, I just had a bit of a argument with my m8 on the phone because I said I wouldnt be suprised if Scotland come out as the winners of this season, she said nah they wont beat England. I think the beating England thing is mainly between Wales and England matches though, their always the biggest matches and I think the two countries have the most rivalry for some reason.

Jojo
11-02-2006, 00:55
I find it so frustrating though - i mean, every team is allowed a bad season, but if England have one, its this huge major thing!! All teams go through bad spells when players either retire or younger ones are brought in

myra129
11-02-2006, 11:46

England seem to have less bad seasons than the rest though and they did win the world cup so that puts more pressure on them to win. Same as the pressure was on Wales this year after last years win. When Wales are not playing England and Scotland the next teams I support so I guess i'm not a real die hard fan like some of my friends.

When Wales are not playing England and Scotland the next teams I support so I guess i'm not a real die hard fan like some of my friends.Thats true, I feel sorry for Charlie Hodgson myself - he is our best fly half at the moment and is a good player, but unfortunately because of Jonny Wilkinson, he has very big boots to step into and when he misses, he gets completely slated for it. We are the World Cup holders, but when you look at the team that won, and the team that are now playing, they are nothing alike, maybe one or two players the same - same with Wales Grand Slam winning team last year. So much pressure on all of these guys, I'd almost prefer to be the underdog to be honest - not so much is expected of you then :D

myra129
11-02-2006, 12:21
Its the same with Gavin Henson, so many people blame the loss last week on him and I dont believe that one man can win the match.

Jojo
11-02-2006, 12:26
Exactly Myra - its a whole team effort, and just because one player is missing, it doesnt mean the team goes to pot - or it shouldn't anyway. Its like blaming the coaches if the guys fail to hold up a try or something like that - why do people always want to find blame somewhere.

alan45

FRANCE 29 - IRELAND 3 This is too painful to watch and its only the first half. :crying: :crying: :crying:

and me. I was on the edge of my seat. THat Jerry Flannery player looks good. It was so exciting they had the ball on the try line so many times. They did so well to come back especially as France are a so hard to beat when there on there home turf.

Jojo

yeh. Why on earth would that scottish player kick the other guy in the head. He knew hed get sent off.I think it was more instinct than intentional though - watching the replays, I think it was more of a reaction to being tackled late, but he still had to be red carded for sure

Katy
25-02-2006, 16:06

It was a pretty tense ending. I though England had won. Maybe next year.

Richie_lecturer
20-03-2006, 01:33
Maybe, but it doesn't look likely.

England are all over the place. What a disgrace they are, Robinson must go NOW.

Well done to Ireland, I know a certain Alan will be very happy on the Triple Crown. Then again Wales almost performed a miracle which would have sent Ireland into dreamworld.

Then again Wales almost performed a miracle which would have sent Ireland into dreamworld.Yet again I was embarrassed to be English!!! Although, dare i say it, the ball WAS in touch and there were 2 bad linesman decisions made, BUT, England did not deserve to win the game...though Irelands second row player (no 18) :nono: dirty player. But congrats to Ireland on the Triple Crown, especially over St Patricks Weekend....

Richie_lecturer
20-03-2006, 01:42
England are so bad right now, the Irish could have gone on a St Paddywhack binge drinking session for 24 hours non-stop upto the game, and still beaten us.

Pathetic.

Pathetic.Their playing has been diabolical - no set pieces, no real clue on what they are supposed to be doing - awful to watch... They should really have taken note of the 7's team in the Commonwealth games this last week, they might have learnt something....

Very embarrassing

Richie_lecturer
20-03-2006, 02:45
Better still, they should have just gone down to the local school, who would show the Seniors up, big time.

Jojo
