Drowning in guilt over her manipulation of Connor, Carmella foolishly takes Izzy's advice and attempts to elicit Connor's sympathy by lying that her mob 'connections' are now pressuring her to repay his debt. But finally the subterfuge becomes too much and she admits all. Connor is surprisingly forgiving, admitting that Carmella will always be one of the loves of his life. But he is committed to Serena, and decides that he too, must tell the truth. How will Serena react to his confession?

The pressure of keeping the robbery a secret weighs heavily on Stingray. His behaviour is erratic and, ignorant to the real cause of his upset, Sky suspects that Dylan might be bullying his brother again. Dylan's given pause and offers to turn himself in to ease the pressure on Stingray. But fearing that the police will not believe their story, Stingray commits to perpetuating the cover-up. Will he be able to control his nerves and keep quiet until the heat dies down?

In need of a confidant, Susan admits to Karl that she's not coping with Alex's illness. Now that the wedding has been called off, she doesn't know where she stands with him - is she his lover, or carer? Karl advises that she let her heart be her guide.

It's the Year Twelves’ final day at school and after a graduation dinner at ScarletBar, they head to school to create havoc. Max and Joe are approving of their debaucherous efforts, but Harold frets about safety issues. Experiencing it for the first time as a member of staff, poor Karl becomes a target.

Izzy feigns a change of heart with Elle, vowing to try to overcome their differences. Engineering Elle into cooking dinner, Izzy feigns confusion when her meal tastes bitter. Paul tries it and agrees, then finds the remnants of crushed pills. Paul’s appalled to realise Izzy has been right all along – Elle’s been drugging Izzy.

That evening, the Bishops help Harold with a soup kitchen. But a farewell kiss is seen by Serena, who flees. Carmella follows to tell her it’s Serena that Connor loves, and urges her to think again.

Claiming innocence, Elle’s forced to confess her earlier drugging of Izzy. She flees, and seeks support from Ned. He can’t help, and Elle’s resigned to being kicked back to Tassie. Izzy, meanwhile, confesses to Paul her scheme to prove Elle’s guilt. Paul realises how messed-up Elle is, and Izzy leads him to realise she’s best off going home. But as the time draws near, Paul realises he needs to be a dad. He asks Elle to stay, and for Izzy to help parent Elle. Both women accept – but with considerable reservations.

Lou inadvertently tells Lil about David’s lotto win. Lil’s thrilled, and waits for David to make the big announcement. Meanwhile, David’s had a Saint Paul moment, and when Lil finally admits she knows, he confesses he’s just given the money away to the Salvos. Lil’s furious, but David’s simple explanation sways her. She’s able to forgive him, and admire him all the more.

Toadie continues to make Ned feel comfortable about “coming out???, but Elle knows for a fact that Ned’s not gay. When it looks like Elle’s leaving, Ned tells her his real secret – a truth he can’t yet admit to the boys. His fear of spectacular and humiliating failure is too great.

Meanwhile, Susan is under pressure from the Kinski kids to explain why her romance with Alex has cooled. She reluctantly lies to them but urges Alex to come clean about his illness soon. He resolves to tell them after his appointment with Karl – by then he should have a better idea of how long he has left to live. Joe punishes Janelle by emailing “The Bogan’s Tipped Hair??? to everyone in Lyn’s address book. Max, Karl and Lou are horrified by their depictions in the book and vent at Janelle. Much to Joe’s chagrin, Lyn takes pity on her and invites the Timminses back under the Scully roof. Match point: Janelle!

Steph falls truly, madly, deeply in love with a motorbike she has sourced for a client.

Worried about Stingray and needing advice, Dylan confides in Paul about the robbery. Disappointed in his protégé, Paul reacts angrily and makes it clear he's unwilling to become involved. Dylan feels more alone than ever. With their first exam looming, Stingray nearly cracks under the pressure and Dylan wonders if he's ruined his brother's life. Sky comes to the rescue with a typical madcap stunt to blow off steam and they struggle through the exam. But their relief is shattered when Roo contacts Dylan - he's going to hand the weapon in to the police; it's covered in Dylan's fingerprints.

Her attraction to Alex sparked once again, Susan's torn between her head and her heart. Karl advises Susan to stop overanalysing - she's obviously in love with Alex and her hesitation is denying both herself and Alex happiness. Buoyed by Karl's advice, Susan resumes her relationship with Alex, much to the delight of Rachel and Zeke. Alex wants to tell the kids only when his health is failing to spare them from unnecessary hurt and Susan reluctantly agrees to follow his lead.

Ned continues to let the hapless Toadie think he's gay but Stuart's unconvinced. Determined to force the issue, Stu challenges Ned to "come out" to his parents. Sick of the stupid charade, Ned admits he's straight, but pleads with the boys to get off his case - he's not ready to reveal this real secret yet.

Steph's obsession with a client's powerful motorbike continues and Max suspects she's tempted to take it for a spin. When Steph challenges his conservativeness, Max makes a compromise.

Anticipation builds for the Lassiter’s party flight to Tasmania: Alex and Susan look forward to a romantic evening alone; David and Lil resolve to enjoy themselves despite Paul’s presence; Serena takes Lou’s ticket; and Paul makes peace with Dylan, insisting that he come along. Paul, Izzy, Elle, Connor, Serena, Sky, Dylan, Susan, Alex, David and Lil are among those who board the plane. Mid-flight, with the party in full swing, Izzy discovers a faintly sinister note, little realising that a bomb ticks ominously away in the hold!

After an anonymous tip-off from Roo, the police find the gun used in the armed robbery. When partial fingerprints lead to Dylan, the police swoop on the Scully house. Dylan isn’t there, but Stingray drops himself in it when he tries to do a runner. When Stuart and Steiger get to the airfield, the plane has already taken off with Dylan inside. The cops alert the authorities at Launceston to pick up Dylan when the plane lands.

When Connor confesses to Toadie that he stole the cash from Bounce!, Toadie wants nothing more to do with him. Deeply ashamed, Connor agrees to sell his share of the house and turn himself in to the police. But first he wants one last night of freedom to spend with Serena.

Izzy and Elle do their best to play “happy families??? for Paul’s sake, but the sweetness turns sarcastic whenever he’s out of sight.

Serena realises she loves Connor too much not to give him another chance. As the plane takes off, the tentatively reunited couple prepares to talk through their problems.

Wednesday, 18th January

Izzy is further mystified by the strange note when neither Paul nor Elle prove to know anything about it. Who is it meant for? But all is forgotten when an explosion rocks the plane. As the pilot prepares for an emergency sea landing, the Bishop family huddle close for comfort, and Sky and Dylan face death with laughter and love. Alone, Connor seeks solace in his faith. The crash ensues and desperate survivors cling to wreckage and life itself. Izzy overcomes past enmity and inspires Elle to fight for survival – while Connor desperately tries to keep his beloved Serena from lapsing into unconsciousness. Near exhaustion, Susan holds tight to some wreckage and the hope that Alex has not perished.

Under pressure from Stuart and Toadie, Stingray confesses to his and Dylan’s part in the robbery. Unfortunately Stuart remains highly skeptical. Police are dispatched to pick up Dylan on his arrival in Tasmania and it seems Stingray’s chances of avoiding charges of accessory to robbery and withholding evidence are slim. Janelle is appalled to hear the news and squarely blames Dylan; she regrets ever letting her reprobate son back into their family life. But then news reaches them of the crash. Can Janelle maintain her rage in the face of such tragedy?

Janelle receives a phone call from a book publisher who wants to buy the rights to ‘The Bogan’s Tipped Hair’. Beside herself with excitement she and Bree celebrate – until Janelle glimpses an unsettling vision.

Thursday, 19th January 2006
Connor and Serena cling; Serena tiring and Connor doing everything to keep her alive. He gives her his life jacket and ties her to him, but falling into unconsciousness, he awakes to find her gone.

Meanwhile, Dylan finds himself alone but alive. Despairing for Sky, he finds strength to survive by railing against nature. Connor makes it to shore where he finds Dylan. As they regain warmth in the dawn sun, they realise they’re both facing jail. Hearing a distant rescue helicopter, Dylan makes a decision to hide – from now on he’s a “dead man???.

Karl’s despairs to hear Susan may be dead, as Max despairs to hear the same fate for Izzy. Harold deals with his shock by work and helping others. As the friends and family of those on the plane band together to wait for news, tensions build when they learn Paul, then Izzy and Elle have been rescued. Harold vents his fears in uncharacteristic anger, and prayer. Janelle’s terrible guilt builds to a certainty that she’ll never see Dylan again.

The adults keep the news from Zeke and Rachel, but Karl and Bree are able to tell them when good news arrives – Alex is in Launceston hospital, alive and well.

Joe suffers like the others until news arrives: Sky’s okay.

Friday, 20th January 2006

Harold clings onto hope, using his own experiences of being lost and presumed dead at sea to support his theory that a similar miracle has saved Lil, David and Serena. Lou braces himself for Harold’s inevitable reality check.

Janelle takes Dylan’s apparent death particularly hard because at the time the plane was crashing, she was condemning him for leading Stingray astray. She joins a devastated Karl at the bar and finds that giving him comfort helps appease her own guilt.

Her emotional needs neglected at home, Janae finds solace from Boyd and they realise all the holding back and playing games seem petty under the circumstances. Finally they declare their love for each other.

Toadie feels guilt-wracked over Connor’s (apparent) death, because, during their last exchanges he took away his friendship and threatened to dob him into the police for the Bikini Shop theft. Ned assures Toadie that his and Connor’s friendship was bigger than that but Toadie cannot forgive him.

Stingray is under a lot of pressure as he deals with his brother’s death and his own bail hearing. He refuses to speak ill of Dylan – even if it means getting himself off – and he vows to clear his brother’s name.

Dylan and Connor, having decided to avoid prison and let everyone presume they died at sea, head off on their journey to a new life.

Believing Susan to be lost forever, Karl blames Paul
Kim sheds light on a Timmins family secret

Monday, 23rd January 2006

Believing Susan to be lost forever, Karl’s downward spiral continues. Karl blames Paul for organising the doomed flight and has to be physically restrained from attacking him. Meanwhile Alex and the kids try to come to terms with Susan’s death. Karl and Alex acknowledge the important role each played in Susan’s life and are united in their grief. When Susan arrives, back from the dead, Karl witnesses the joyful reunion with Alex and the kids. Powerful emotions have been stirred by Susan’s return and Karl realises he’s still in love with her, but has no outlet for his feelings.

Janae’s thrown when she hears Janelle’s gone to Tasmania to search for Dylan. It seems to her that their mum has selfishly abandoned the rest of her children, just when they need her the most. Janae turns to Boyd for comfort and Bree’s shocked at her sister’s apparent insensitivity. A guilty Janae admits she was never close to Dylan and isn’t sure what she should be feeling. But Paul provides insight into Dylan’s final moments, and Janae has a newfound appreciation of her brother.

Karl torments Paul, goading him with the fact that Izzy phoned Karl when the plane was about to crash.

Stepping into the void left by Janelle, Joe provides both practical and emotional support for Bree. She receives a ray of hope from Zeke in the form of an unexpected kiss.

Tuesday, 24th January 2006

With Janelle still searching for Dylan, Bree begins to mother Janae, and Lyn begs Janelle to come home – her kids need her. Joe pours scorn on the absent Kim – what sort of dad lets his family suffer alone? Away on an isolated surfing beach, Kim’s been incommunicado from the world and is shocked to learn of Dylan’s disappearance from a newspaper. He immediately heads for Erinsborough to be with his family. Bree’s delighted but Janelle greets him with a slap. Over a drink, Joe susses Kim out and is won over by his sincerity. Bree begs her mum to let Kim stay, for Bree’s sake if nothing else.

Dylan catches his first fish but his elation is dampened by Connor’s negative attitude. Connor isn’t coping with the ordeal, and starvation and exposure to the elements are taking their toll. Dylan outlines his plans for the future and is exasperated when Connor pours cold water on them, as well as expressing an aversion to fish. He challenges Connor to hunt for rabbit. Connor corners one but can’t bring himself to kill it. Dylan’s disgusted at Connor’s lack of gumption.

Alarm bells ring for Susan when Harold expresses his hope that Lil will return in time for Susan’s wedding. He believes Susan’s own miraculous return is proof that the Bishops will survive. When the search is officially called off, Susan challenges Harold to face facts but he continues his self-deception.

Boyd’s trying to study but Janae’s a temptation impossible to ignore. They finally give in to their passion and Janae admits Boyd’s the first boyfriend she’s ever loved. Boyd promises she’ll never have to experience anything less again.

Wednesday, 25th January 2006

Connor continues to accept his new circumstances and Dylan is fed up with his attitude. When Connor witnesses Dylan howling his grief over Sky, Connor is concerned for his friend’s mental state. Dylan insists he’s coping just fine and turns the tables back on Connor. If Connor can’t adjust to their situation, he’s the one who’ll go nuts. He urges Connor to put the past behind him and Connor finds a meaningful way of saying farewell to Serena. He tells Dylan he’s ready to pull his own weight. Together these two will survive.

Against her own better judgment, Janelle agrees to let Kim stay. But only for Bree’s sake and he must sleep in the van. It’s obviously she still loves her husband. Janae and Stingray make no bones about their anger at “unfaithful Kim??? and he finally sets the record straight - the real reason Janelle punishes him is that she thinks he cost them the family fortune after a fight with his wealthy parents. Janelle is both ashamed and hurt when Kim reveals that the fight was actually over her - Kim’s parents disinherited them when he refused to split up with the woman he loved, the woman he’s never cheated on. Bree is quick to forgive her Dad, but Janae’s still loyal to her Mum. Stingray privately suspects that neither is blameless as more of the story comes out.

Still seething over Izzy’s call to Karl when she thought she was going to die, Paul exploits a condition in a leasing agreement to oust Karl from the surgery. Toadie helps Karl resolve the legal problem but Karl’s more interested in Paul’s motivation. He comes to the realisation that for Paul to take such steps, Paul must really love Izzy. Karl’s confront Paul, smug in his knowledge and warns that Izzy’s only after Paul’s money. Paul tries to blow him off telling him he’ll see him in court, but Karl remains defiant. This has nothing to do with a leasing agreement - this is all about jealousy. Karl has the one thing that Paul desperately wants. Izzy’s love and respect.

Thursday, 26th January 2006

Izzy and Elle return from hospital as friends, but all is not well in the Robinson household. After his run-in with Karl, jealous Paul is ultra-sensitive to Izzy’s every move and feels threatened by her affection for Ned. When Izzy quits her work at Lassiter’s and recommits to helping Max at ScarletBar, Paul feels as though he’s losing her. Vulnerable and seeking reassurance, he pledges his love to Izzy but she cannot return in kind. She values her honest relationship with Paul too much to lie – she loves Paul but isn’t in love with him. Hurt turning to anger, Paul orders Izzy out of his house.

Stu re-interviews the servo attendant and starts to come around to Toadie’s thinking: Stingray is telling the truth and the robbery was coerced. Unfortunately, Steiger considers the case closed and Stu is forbidden from pursuing further inquiries. It looks very much like Stingray will be convicted.

Kim tries to get through to Stingray by teaching him how to surf. Stingray is standoffish but when Kim gets him talking about Dylan the walls come down a little. When Stingray reprimands Kim for slagging off Janelle, Kim insists he’s not the “bad guy??? in the Timmins marriage – both parties are at fault. Stingray is surprised to hear Kim’s heartfelt pledge that, despite everything, he is still in love with Janelle.

Lyn becomes conscious of the fact that she’s starting to slow down, just as Oscar is entering his most active years. Steph’s boundless energy as mum-to-be only makes Lyn feel worse.

Ned enlists Lyn’s help and confides in Elle that he’s ready to go after his dream – but what could it be?

Friday, 27th January
Sky returns home and is appalled to find Harold still maintaining the fantasy that David, Serena and Lil will return. The level of Harold's denial is rendered with heart wrenching poignancy when he auditions for a theatre production - offering a duet he once performed with David as an audition piece. But reality intrudes when word arrives that David's body has been found and awaits identification. Joe urges Harold to attend but maintaining that his son is not dead, he lashes out violently.

Paul stews after his dramatic request that Izzy get out of his house, and life. But Elle defends Izzy as a good person and encourages him to wait for her feelings to turn around. Swayed, Paul withdraws his ultimatum - he wants Izzy to stay and will give her time to sort out her feelings.

Izzy explains that her frantic declaration of love to Karl before the plane crash was genuine and professes her ongoing devotion. Karl toys with Izzy, submitting to a kiss. But to Izzy's horror, he pulls away, announcing that he will never take her back. Feeling rejected, Izzy returns to Paul. After a triumphant experience with Ned, Elle goes out on a limb and kisses him. But she's horrified when he doesn't reciprocate her affection - his heart is still with Izzy. Ned's secret is finally revealed when he auditions for a role in 'Pirates of Penzance'. But it would seem his dreams may be stymied; Gino the director already has a favourite protégé.

Harold’s initially unrepentant for hitting Joe. Joe and Sky ID David’s body, but it takes Lou’s insight to help Harold out of denial and into normal grieving. But when the street learns a bomb was the cause of the plane crash, Harold finds he needs someone to blame for his family’s death.

After being obliged to ID David’s body, Sky seeks and finds solace, as a friend, with Boyd. Though distracted from final cramming for his exams, Boyd’s loyalty to Sky shines through. Next day, Sky finds a way to grieve and pay tribute to Dylan – with Bree’s help, she gives his car a paint job he would’ve loved. Bree and Sky are united in grief – “sisters??? forever.

Zeke helps Bree grieve for her brother, and succumbs to some worrying symptoms; lack of appetite, sleeplessness, difficulty thinking straight...and happiness. Alex happily and correctly diagnoses love. Meanwhile, Bree “talks??? to Dylan, confiding her happiness that he was right – she did find someone to love.

Coping with his last exam, Boyd reports back to Max, feeling quietly confident he’s done well. Medical school is now within reach, and he and his father are over the moon.

Tuesday, 31st January

As Stingray and Sky suffer ongoing grief for Serena and Dylan, Stingray faces court over the robbery. Stingray gets a call from a mate in Colac – Roo’s been sighted. Stingray gets Sky’s help driving there to bring Roo to justice. Meanwhile, Stuart calls by to find why Stingray hasn’t reported in to his parole officer. Realising he’s fled, Stuart’s obliged to call the police. Joe, Harold, Lyn and Steph fret for Stingray and Sky’s safety, hoping police find the teens before Roo does, even though Stingray now faces being placed in remand. Sky and Stingray find Roo’s hideout, and decide to wait. But as night falls, they fall asleep. In the morning they’re awoken by someone’s arrival. They scramble to deal with the deadly Roo.

Trying to bury his grief over the plane crash in work, Paul’s sharp with Elle. Elle later hears that neighbours view Paul as being likely to know if there’s been skulduggery with the plane crash. Harold confronts Paul, but Paul sincerely denies knowing any reason why a bomb might’ve been placed on the plane. Paul’s grief makes Harold realise that Paul, too, is a victim of all this. Together they guess that, whoever the intended victim, the killer won’t stop. But who is the victim?

Lyn feels usurped by Steph’s energetic babysitting of Oscar, and is brusque when Joe offers more support, pointing out he’s “just??? a boyfriend. She does open up about the difficulties of being a working single mum, however. Joe pledges his love and support as a partner, and Lyn begins to suspect a proposal may lurk in the wings. She sounds out Steph, who thinks Lyn’s moving too fast. Steph warns Joe to consider Lyn’s expectations, and think very carefully before making his next move.

Ned struggles when Gino changes the play to one of his own.

Wednesday, 1st February

Connor and Dylan are determined to walk out of the wilderness and start their new lives. But when Dylan collapses from exhaustion he urges Connor to go on without him. Connor resolves to carry his friend and, mercifully, the boys reach a road. From a discarded newspaper, they learn that Sky is still alive. But when Dylan also learns that Stingray is pleading his innocence and facing a lengthy sentence, he resolves to return to Erinsborough to help his brother.

Stu goes to Colac to bring Stingray home before he’s caught breaching his bail conditions. It’s a race against time to get him back to Erinsborough for a court hearing. However when they’re pulled over by a local cop, Stingray is taken into custody. Toadie informs the Timminses that Stingray’s hearing will be rescheduled for after his eighteenth birthday. If convicted, he will now face a sentence in an adult jail.

Janelle’s distraught over the trouble with Stingray and momentarily revels in Kim’s loving comfort. But his exhortations for her to adopt his spiritual philosophy and put faith in the power of universe is simply too much. She pushes him away, denouncing his hippy mumbo jumbo. Aware that Janelle needs Kim’s support more than ever, Bree urges her Mum to let her defences down. But can Janelle bring herself to let Kim in?

Aware that Karl is still pining for Susan, Max suggests he try Internet dating. Karl resists the idea at first but soon finds himself hot property in the world of cyber romance

Thursday, 2nd February

As Sky and the Timmins family prepare for Dylan’s memorial service, Dylan makes his way back to Erinsborough, intent on saving Stingray from prison. He is shocked to find his own funeral in progress. Deeply ashamed to be causing his family such grief, Dylan ends the charade and reveals that he’s still alive. He is met with mixed reactions – shock, joy and anger - before being taken into custody and charged with the robbery. Dylan makes peace with Janelle and his family - but Sky is staunchly unforgiving.

Meanwhile, Connor is on tenterhooks as he and Dylan return to the mainland. When Dylan gives himself up, Connor feels he has nothing to return to in Erinsborough and goes on the run alone.

Touched by Joe’s efforts with Oscar, Lyn asks him to marry her. Joe wants to spend his life with Lyn but doesn’t believe in marriage. Lyn makes it clear she wants a husband or nothing – are these two headed for splitsville?

In all the drama of Dylan’s return, Boyd misses the start of his selection interview for Medicine at Erinsborough Uni.

Friday, 3rd February

Since figuring that he was the target of the bomb, Paul is full of self-loathing and shuts himself away from the world. Izzy and Harold’s attempts to make him see reason fall on deaf ears, as Paul remains in his numb-like state. He is snapped out of this, however, when another threat arrives.

Because Boyd was otherwise occupied with Janae’s family crisis (Dylan’s return from the dead), he is late for his preliminary interview with the Dean of Medicine. When Boyd fails to use Janae’s crisis as an excuse, he is virtually dismissed by his interviewer. Janae stands up for Boyd, telling the reason for Boyd’s tardiness. Thanks to her, Boyd gets a reprieve and the incident only serves to cement Janae and Boyd’s already substantial relationship.

Joe and Max help Karl choose a woman from the Internet he should date. Despite Steph’s advice, Karl goes ahead and sets up a meeting. He is embarrassed when Susan finds out where he’s trawling for women - but Susan is genuinely happy for Karl.

When Steph alludes to the fact that Max is a wuss, Max decides to get a tattoo. At the eleventh hour, however, the squeamish Max can’t go ahead with it and all he has to show for his efforts is a tiny dot. Steph loves him anyway.

Susan, Rachel and Zeke tease Alex for being so dull. Alex tries to redeem himself with an adventurous stunt, but it falls flat. When Alex finds out Max is bravely getting a tattoo, Alex decides to also show his gutsy side by following suit.
