Here are some things that are lined up for us in the U.K, there are some spoilers here but some that have already been mentioned. There are also some new characters to look forward to which I have tried to explain about. Happy reading.
Barry Hyde
Barry and Irene Roberts have a relationship and they live together for a time. However this eventually breaks up, but they remain good friends.
When Kim tries to track down his long lost mother he discovers the explanation for his father's strange and serious nature, and it has a great deal to do with the disappearance of Kim's mother. Barry has carried a deep and dark secret for many years so as to protect his son Kim from the tragic truth regarding his mother. Kim comes to a deeper understanding of his father and forgives him for his inexplicable behaviour towards him.
Beth Hunter
When the devious Amanda goes after Scott, Beth tries to warn him. When it is established that Scott is in fact the father of Hayley's baby, Beth is delighted to see Scott and Hayley reunited and thrilled to have a grandson, baby Noah.
Beth farewells Hayley and Scott and baby Noah at the christening party, when they leave to live in France.
When the Holden family moves in next door to Beth, Tony Holden, the single father of Jack and Lucas is attracted to Beth. Romance is in the air.
Cassie And ric
Cassie and Ric later become estranged and both go through troubled times of jealousy and unhappiness. They are reconciled and are a great support to Sally and Flynn when it's learnt that Flynn has a terminal illness.
Dan and Leah
Dan and Leah settle down to enjoy domestic bliss. They decide it's too soon in their marriage to have a baby, but when a pregnancy test proves negative, Dan and Leah are surprised at their disappointment and contemplate the joys of having their own baby. After several more disappointments they resort to the IVF programme and still live in hope of having their own child. However, Dan foolishly resorts to his old vice of gambling and this not only seriously threatens his marriage to Leah, but endangers the life of his son Ryan.
Irene
Irene and Barry Hyde live together for a while, but it doesn't work out and they part, but are good friends. Irene suffers a mystery illness and is losing her sanity until it is discovered she is being poisoned by a revengeful Corey.
Jack Holden
Jack is the eldest child of the close-knit Holden family who has just moved in to Summer Bay.
His father Tony and younger brother Luc are more like a trio of best mates than father and sons. Since the death of Tony’s wife Kate over 14 years ago, Tony has endeavoured to give his sons the best life possible without a mother and he has succeeded admirably.
The boys as they are affectionately called, support each other unconditionally and are inseparable: they surf together, watch the footy together and lean on each other for help and advice.
Jack is a Police Constable, three years out of the Academy, keen for action and eager to prove himself. Harper his boss thinks Jack is over-zealous and naively enthusiastic. But Jack takes the responsibilities of law enforcement very seriously.
His desire to enter the police was driven by the unsolved murder of his mother who was killed in a drive-by mugging.
Off-duty, Jack is a light-hearted, confident young man, always smiling. He is self-assured, but never arrogant. Women are attracted to him although he has never had long relationships: he is usually the one to back off when he feels someone is getting too close. His ability to switch off his emotions is etched into his character as a way of self-protection. This derives from the death of his mother when he was nine years old. Jack doesn’t want to risk being hurt like that again.
Jack and Martha have an on-again off-again romance due to the clash of their strong egos, but finally reconcile after Jack saves Martha's life.
luc holden
Luc is a mature and sensitive 15-year-old, the youngest son of the close-knit Holden family who has just moved in to Summer Bay.
At first glance then, Luc is your typical sports-loving teenager. But there is a deeper side to him.
Never having known his mother, Luc has matured before his time. He feels life intensely and sees beauty in the smallest detail; he is thoughtful and sensitive.
As a way of expressing the void he feels in regard to his mother, Luc has turned to writing and spends hours in his room, constantly creating the image of the woman who was his mother. Although Tony has always been aware of Luc's deep emotions, Luc feels reluctant to talk to his father about his great loss: he doesn't want to make his father feel bad about the fact, as it was something he had no control over.
Although he enjoys playing sport with his dad and brother, Luc is more introspective and finds his self-expression in writing. He writes a daily journal to help himself work through the uncertainties and highs and lows of everyday life.
Girls are attracted to Luc's sensitive nature, but he is shy in the area of romance. He tends to put girls on a pedestal and idolise them from afar. But when the object of his affections is a young lady of Summer Bay called Matilda, this time it's love!
Peter Baker
Leah and Dan marry, although Peter is still in love with Leah. When he returns to Summer Bay he discovers that Leah’s marriage to Dan has broken up due to Dan’s compulsive gambling habit. Dan has moved out of their home, but he generously suggests that Peter stay there.
Although Leah is expecting a baby, Peter becomes involved with Leah again and things become very awkward for Peter and Leah as Dan is unaware of this and tries to reconcile with Leah. Where will this triangle end?
Peter also becomes obsessed about a particular case he is working on and acts very strangely. He is stalking someone, but why?
Rachel Armstrong
Dr Rachel Armstrong, psychiatrist, is an outgoing, bubbly 28-year-old attached to the hospital in Summer Bay.
Leah and Rachel are old friends from school days, and have kept in touch over the years. As a gifted student, Rachel sailed through school and always had good grades, even though she never spent much time studying, much to the annoyance of Leah and her friends!
After medical school, Rachel studied to specialise as a psychiatrist
Tasha
When Tasha becomes involved with a cult called The Believers, she tries to induce Robbie to join too. He refuses and when she decides to live with The Believers at The Farm, Robbie is devastated.
