I think it's good that Coronation Street does things like this. A lot of people would like the world to be perfect and see everything through rose-tinted glasses but things don't work like that. People like Vera do exist and her reactions are real as far as the character goes. It's similar to Gail's reactions to Todd coming out...she called him a "pervert" and said "She'll need an AIDS test after going with him". Not nice things to say really but it would be completely out of character for Gail not to react like this.

I think that it's important in soaps that people do not allow their own personal views to get in the way of a characters particular views.

them scenes in the bingo hall were hilarious :cheer: especially when vera was banging on the table going "it's a fix! its a fix!" :rotfl: as if you'd do that infront of everyone though :eek: :rolleyes:
