Flynn, Cassie and Ric are furious to learn about Diesel’s accusations – and Sally’s suspension. The full impact of what she could lose hits home when Sally gets a phone call from the local newspaper asking for her comment.

Furious, Ric swears he’ll make Callan pay! But when he goes to talk to Matilda about it, a huge argument breaks out between them. As the row escalates, Matilda becomes breathless and collapses with a pain in her chest. Matilda’s rushed to the hospital where Flynn orders tests which reveal Matilda has a pulmonary embolism: the result of a clot traveling from the bruise in her calf, up a main artery to her lungs. Robbie reels as Flynn sternly explains - If they had brought Matilda straight to the hospital all this might have been avoided. As it stands, she’s very lucky she didn’t die.

Beth is taken aback by the sight of Matilda on oxygen and hooked up to a cardiac monitor. She does her best to hold it together, but when Flynn informs her that traces of marijuana were found in Matilda’s blood, Beth is stunned, upset and angry – this is not the daughter she knows. Feeling her mother’s concern, Matilda breaks down – she only did it because she wanted people to like her; she’s been so lonely. Her words have resonance for Beth and despite her anger she softens.

Ric confronts Diesel about Sally. Hyde intervenes keeping Diesel back to make sure he understands the gravity of his allegations towards Sally, but Diesel’s adamant they’re true!

Cassie is surprised by the level of Ric’s fury re: Callan and Matilda. Ric explains that when he was on the streets, he was at a party where Callan slipped something in to a girl’s drink and later took advantage of her. The girl went to the cops the next day but there wasn’t enough proof. Ric always felt bad for not helping that girl, but he was on the run from the cops at the time - it was a mistake he never wants to make again. He goes to see Matilda to tell her how sorry he is for not helping her more. Matilda says she made the decision to go with Callan; to drink and smoke drugs - no one else. Matilda says she’s surprised he doesn’t hate her. To which Ric replies that he could never hate her. Matilda’s smile quietly turns to tears as she breaks down in Ric’s arms.

Diesel tells Sally he’s wiling to drop the allegations if she just admits that she loves him. Sally thought she made it clear the other day… Diesel darkens – fine, have it your way. He heads off. Once he’s gone, we see the toll this is taking on Sally as she breaks down in to tears …

Tuesday 22nd November 2005 - Episode 3977
Already on edge after Diesel’s visit, Sally’s further disturbed when Hyde tells her the department of education are sending an investigator to the school tomorrow to look into the allegations. Cassie and Henry talk to Diesel, telling him how hard Sally is taking all this, but he refuses to change his mind. He truly believes Sally led him on. Henry’s worried - if he’s half as convincing with the investigators… It won’t be good for Sally.

Alf’s pleased - Martha’s decided to stay in the Bay! Brett faces a jail sentence and Josie has been welcomed into the community again. Jesse turns up at the diner to apologise and tell everyone he’s turning a new leaf. He sees Josie there and there’s an underlying frisson between them. Leah and Dan arrive back from the city where they’ve spent a couple of days since getting back together. Jesse’s quick to apologise. Dan is also sorry for punching Jesse and letting things get out of hand. There’s a sense they all want to move forward – but it’s going to take a bit of time.

Leah reminds Sally she’s got nothing to be ashamed off – and she should stand tall. To show their support, Dan, Flynn and Cassie walk her to school. Some kids start pointing and gossiping and Cassie yells at them – it’s all lies! Despite her brave face, this is incredibly hard for Sally. From a distance, we see Diesel watching – beginning to realise the toll this is taking on her.

At the school, the Department of Education investigator, Mr Summons is already there and Hyde introduces him to Sally. As the school counsellor, Dan’s informed he needs to be present in all interviews. Dan doesn’t want to be seen to be against Sally but Sally says it’s okay – it’s his job…

The students have plenty of positive things to say about Sally, but when asked if they noticed any unusual behaviour between Diesel and Ms Fletcher, their comments include: Diesel was always in the room with Sally – sometimes before and after class; Sally used to let him get away with not doing homework; Craig even saw them down at the beach one night… Nearly everything said could be misinterpreted. Dan realises that this is going to be an uphill battle… Meanwhile, Diesel breaks in to Summer Bay House, picks up a locket of Sally’s and puts it in his pocket…

Diesel seems more uncertain now, as he heads in to the meeting… Summons wants to know if it is true Sally kissed him. He wavers, but then he flashes back to when Sally said she didn’t love him and darkens again –it’s all true. To further his claim, he pulls out e-mails sent from Sally’s email address (saying how deeply she cares, how wonderful the kiss was etc). Diesel says he’s had a lot of pressure from the others to lie about what happened, especially Cassie - Sally’s foster kid.

In her interview, Sally defends herself –insisting she didn’t send the e-mails or send Cassie to sway his mind. As for the allegations about the kiss – they’re simply not true. Diesel did kiss her but she promptly ended it. Summons questioning intensifies - it’s not looking great. Sally arrives home and goes through the phone messages waiting for her. She can’t believe the accusations being thrown at her by parents etc. One of the messages is from an elderly lady accusing her of being disgusting and announcing they should lock her in jail and throw away the key.

Jesse apologises to Alf about what a jerk he’s been over the past few weeks. He knows he hurt a lot of people. Alf’s not sure what to say but Jesse can see that he’s beginning to soften. Meanwhile, Sally receives a call from DOCS – due to the investigation at the school, they’re looking into whether or not she should have foster kids under her care. Cassie is stunned – you mean we could lose you? Sally’s face shows Cassie has hit the nail on the head...

Wednesday 23rd November 2005 - Episode 3978
Anxious about the DOCS visit, Sally hasn’t slept all night and Flynn is concerned. Sally can’t help but think the worse - If they lose the kids… Ric and Cassie both dread what might happen and agree to do whatever it takes to fight for Sal. It’s all so unfair!

Ric spots Callan, grabs him by the collar and pushes him up against the wall demanding to know what he’s doing back in town after what happened to Matilda. Callan hadn’t heard about Matilda but doesn’t reckon it’s his fault – she ran off, she’s weird in the head. Ric – only because of the drugs you gave her! Callan tells Ric if he wants him gone, it’ll cost him $500.

In the diner, Colleen bemoans the loss of her $30,000 because of the dreadful resort people. It was the money she got from the sale of her mobile home – And now, she has nothing… Hayley’s forced to admit to Jesse that the Gym is loosing money - people have been steering clear because of Jesse’s recent behaviour. Jesse feels terrible – he’s hurt more people than he thought.

Ric can’t stand the way Callan’s so smug and he tells Cassie he wants to break into Callan’s car, find the drugs and call the cops… Cassie wants no part of this. The last thing Sally and Flynn need is trouble. Ric realises that Cassie won’t be persuaded to help and agrees it’s a crazy idea.

Jesse comes in with Hayley to look at the gym books and see just how bad the problem is. Jesse has some money for her and Alf - $300. It’s not a lot, but it’s the first step to paying back the money he took from the bar when he was drinking. Alf and Hayley are surprised and thank him.

Ric breaks into Callan’s car to search for drugs, but doesn’t find anything. Damn! As he turns he comes face to face with Martha. She smiles - what are you up to, little cousin? Ric says he’ll plant drugs if he has to but he wants Callan out of the picture – what he did to Matilda is inexcusable! Martha understands, but warns him against it - he’s risking a lot if he goes that far. Ric sees Callan hand a small bag (dope) to two surfers in exchange for money. Ric’s anger gets the better of him and he changes his mind – he’s going to get the guy once and for all!

Kate Willisee, the DOCS officer, grills Sally about the allegations from Diesel. Sally explains her side of the story. Flynn adds heatedly that Sally did what she did because she cared about his welfare – isn’t that ultimately what counts? The welfare of the kids!

Ric scores some pot and approaches Callan’s car to plant it, when Colleen runs in to him, knocking the drugs to them ground. Colleen picks the baggie up and is outraged! At home, Cassie’s glowing report about Sally is interrupted as Colleen barges in, holding Ric by the scruff of the neck and rabbiting on about Ric and drugs! Stunned looks all round. Flynn and Sally do their best to explain away the incident, but Kate’s not impressed. Ric makes an impassioned plea.

Jesse tells Hayley the gym’s in trouble, so he’s made a decision. He wants to sell his share. Hayley doesn’t think that’s necessary but Jesse feels it’s the only way to save the business.

Sally and Flynn are surprised when Kate reveals she is satisfied that they’re doing a good job as foster parents and the kids can stay. Relief from Flynn and Sally but Flynn still tears strips off Ric – what the hell what he thinking? Alf arrives, having heard about the drugs from Colleen and wants Ric to pack his things. He’s coming to stay at the apartment.

Thursday 24th November 2005 - Episode 3979
Tasha explains to Robbie that her cash (from the sale of the caravan park) is burning a hole in her pocket and she wants reinvest it. She’s already done one thing, but won’t tell him what it is yet.

Everyone’s gathered for the viewing of Robbie’s commercial. There’s great anticipation as Robbie pushes ‘play’, only to discover his voice has been dubbed over! His devastation is interrupted by Colleen who bustles over to Tasha – it’s a wonderful gesture but she simply can’t accept it. Tasha’s paid off her debts with the bank and bought her mobile home back. Tasha explains she felt she owed Colleen. After all, she was the one who sold the caravan park from under her. Colleen eventually accepts. Josie gets a little funny about all this talk of money and finances. Later, Jesse comes round to say goodbye to Josie and she reveals to him she’s broke. Jesse’s stunned!

Irene has got wind that Leah and Dan are having their reception at the Surf Club and she’s not impressed. It’s like sleeping with the enemy! Tasha tells Kim she wants to buy Jesse’s share of the gym for the baby – like an early present. Kim will have trust of it until the baby’s 18.

Josie tells Tasha she’s been thinking that maybe it’s time to leave the Bay. Tasha can’t believe what she’s hearing – and wonders why she’s had such a sudden change of heart. But Josie is giving nothing away… Tasha drags Josie down to the boat wharf - last year, when Josie went out on the boat, it made her realise Summer Bay was her home. Whilst out on the boat Josie and Scott find themselves confiding in each other – Scott about Hayley and Kim; Josie about how her feelings for Jesse seem to be remerging.

Jesse tells Tasha the real reason why Josie wants to go - she’s broke. She invested a lot of her own cash in the resort and when it went under – so did her bank account. Tasha and the others are amazed that Josie went to such lengths to save the Bay – it only goes to show what an amazing person she is. On hearing this, Tasha feels even more compelled to make Josie stay.

Tasha tells Josie she’s put a deposit on the apartment for her and has a cheque for $50,000 so Josie can set up whatever business she likes - in partnership with Tasha, of course. Josie doesn’t feel right accepting this but Tasha makes a heartfelt speech – this is where she belongs now.

Hayley and Kim tell Scott they’re going to be partners in the gym! Scott congratulates them, but really he’s concerned this gives them even more reason to spend time together.

Josie and Jesse explore their feelings for one another and sleep together. There’s a slight awkwardness as Josie verbalises how weird it feels – she’s missed him for so long, wanted that again – but now that it’s happened… Jesse feels the same way – it’s not like it used to be, something’s changed… Josie agrees - they’re actually over each other?

Closure with Jesse makes Josie realise she might have feelings for someone else – Scott! Meanwhile, Scott’s distracted and Beth wants to know what wrong. Scott admits he took her advice and is determined to deal with what he now understands is his problem (Kim and Hayley getting closer) – but now with the gym … he thinks he needs to take action to stop Hayley drifting away. He has an idea… Scott finds Hayley on way to work and asks her to marry him! Hayley’s stunned!

Friday 25th November 2005 - Episode 3980

Hayley’s stunned by Scott’s proposal and asks if it has anything to do with Kim. Scott insists it doesn’t but Hayley’s not entirely convinced. She needs time to think… Meanwhile, Callan asks if Ric knows anything about his car being broken into. Ric says he doesn’t, but Callan suspects differently. He asks Ric if Matilda’s out of hospital yet and Ric bites - he doesn’t want Callan going near her! Callan smirks, realising the perfect way to get back at him...

Beth’s not happy that Matilda put herself in danger with this Callan boy… Matilda says it wasn’t Callan – she did what she did because she wanted to. Beth starts to get very upset by Matilda’s attitude and tells her she’s going to be grounded for quite some time! Matilda’s outraged … As soon as Beth heads off, Callan comes in and tries to charm Matilda back onside. He wants to see her again and asks if she wants to come to party tonight? Matilda can’t - she isn’t being released from hospital until the morning. Callan tells her he thinks this could be the start of something amazing… Matilda melts.

Callan comes back to pick Matilda up. Her nerves are getting the better of her – she knows they’re going to be sprung but Callan assures her it’s going to be an awesome night. Callan stares at her and touches her shoulder. Matilda succumbs and they sneak out of the hospital together.

Hayley has thought about Scott’s proposal. She loves the fact he loves her so much to do this, but she can’t help but feel the proposal is an attempt by Scott to not lose her – and it’s unnecessary because she’s not going anywhere. Scott can’t deny it anymore and Hayley becomes frustrated - they can’t keep having this same fight over and over again. When’s he going to understand that she loves him – not Kim…?

http://backtothebay.net/comingsoon/05_11_21_03.jpg

At the party, Callan slips Rohypnol into Matilda’s drink and says cheers as Matilda starts drinking it. Callan smiles - his plan is underway… Meanwhile, Beth discovers Matilda missing from her hospital bed.

Hayley tells Scott she feels like she’s bashing her head against a brick wall and she’s getting fed up. Scott wants to know what she’s trying to say. Hayley’s not sure - maybe they should take a break or something? Scott stunned – he wasn’t expecting this, but before he can respond Alf interrupts – it’s Beth, and she wants to know if Scott has seen Matilda?

Alf asks Ric if he has any idea where Matilda could be. Ric nods. Alf, Martha and Ric arrive at Dale’s party. Ric heads inside and sees Callan with Matilda on the couch, starting to get physical with her. Ric rushes over, he knows Callan has given her something. Callan goads and Ric’s anger gets the better of him and he starts to beat Callan relentlessly.

Matilda, all dizzy and woozy, starts to stumble off. Alf and Martha rush over and gets Ric off Callan! Callan’s in a pretty bad way. Ric looks around – where’s Matilda? She’s gone…

http://backtothebay.net/comingsoon/05_11_21_05.jpg

Matilda stumbles down the road, disorientated and dizzy from the Rohypnol. She falls and gets back onto her feet. A car pulls up alongside side her – a shadowy figure winds down the window and asks Matilda - You okay, love?

http://backtothebay.net/comingsoon/05_11_21_06.jpg

Beth’s frantic as they search along the road side looking for her. How could Matilda be so stupid! It’s anger and fear from Beth as Hayley and Scott do their best to reassure her. Hayley spots something on the road up ahead. Beth finds Matilda’s bag. Everything is still inside – but there’s no sign of Matilda. Where could she be!?
