UPSTAIRS Downstairs star Jenny Tomasin is joining Emmerdale.
Jenny, famous for her role as downtrodden maid Ruby in the hit 70s show, is said to be delighted .
She will play Noreen Bell who returns to the area after years away.
Her character, on screen next month, quickly pals up with barmaid Val Lambert (Charlie Hardwick). A show source said: "Noreen will come in as a former resident who has not been seen before.
"Viewers can expect to see lots of her well into the New Year."
