Part One

Cleo opened the door to her silver Porsche and took a look around Emmerdale she was wearing light blue faded denim jeans with dark emerald green knee high boots over the top and she wore a green waist length jacket Cleo headed to the pub
She pushed the door to the Woolpack open and the regulars stopped drinking and stared at the flame haired beauty
Cleo- white wine please
She perched herself at the bar consumed in her thoughts she wanted what was rightfully hers after two years of marriage she deserved something
Cleo sipped her wine and thought about how she could get what she wanted but knowing her husband he wouldn’t make it easy for her
She finished her drink and the barmaid made her way over
Louise- would you like another
Cleo- no thanks can you tell me where I can find the King family please
Louise- try Holdgate Farm otherwise they have offices just in the village it depends on which King your looking for
Cleo- thanks I’m sure I’ll find them
She turned and walked out
Cleo walked through the village and entered a small café where she ordered a black coffee
Sitting down she tried to think of how she was going to go about this the pair of them hadn’t spoken in three years it had been messy he’s egotistical so he’ll be moody which will make things a lot more difficult
She sat in the café for a good hour before making her way out and back into the village
A car sped past it was a flash motor Cleo watched as the driver and passenger got out it was Matthew and Tom King
Cleo forced herself not to go over she needed to bide her time she needed to make an impact an unforgettable impact
Walking back to her car Cleo decided a shopping trip was in order

Hours later she returned she’s changed into a smart tailored cut charcoal grey suit her flame haired was tied back into a tight ponytail
She ordered a drink and sat at a table she knew she was creating a few looks but she didn’t care
She pulled out a plain white envelope and pulled out the contents all she needed was a signature
The doors opened and she took a magazine out of her bag as the King family entered the Woolpack
Cleo looked up for a moment before carrying on reading her magazine
Louise served them and Tom paid for the drinks
Louise- oh the redhead sitting over there was asking for you lot
Carl- us
They all turned to wear Cleo was sitting none of them could recognise her she was reading her magazine and she kept her face hidden
The King’s were curious
Max- I’ll go over and show my face
Cleo put away her magazine and got up
The entire family stared at her the mouths wide open in horror and shock
Cleo- hello boys

None of them had said a word
Cleo- am I going to have to do all the talking
Tom- and what exactly are you doing here
Cleo- well it’s simple really I’ve come to ask my husband for a divorce
She stared at Matthew
Cleo- well have you gone deaf and dumb or are you going to say something
She handed Matthew the white envelope
Cleo- my lawyer’s address in inside so you can sign them and post them back and that will be the end of that
The silent pub stared at the King family taking in the shocking revelation
Matthew- do you think I’ll sign them
Cleo- what reason do you have not to I have
She lent against the bar
Cleo- shot of vodka please I have a feeling I’m going to need it
She turned back to her husband
Matthew handed her back the papers
Matthew- maybe you should try asking nicely first
Cleo smirked- you want me to ask nicely
She punched him in the face
Cleo- is that nice enough for you
She threw the papers down onto the bar downed her shot of vodka and went to walk out
Louise- you didn’t pay for your vodka
Cleo carried on walking- he’ll pay for it
Carl helped Matthew up
Carl- she still got a nasty right hook on her
Matthew pushed past his family and followed her outside whilst Tom paid for her drink
Matthew- Cleo
Cleo was heading for her car
Cleo- what
Matthew- three years and you turn up out of the blue
Cleo- well you didn’t exactly come looking for me did you someone had to do it and I did is that your problem I got in there first
Matthew- of course not I just think a bit of warning would have been nice
Cleo- you’ve got a nerve you wanted warning you aint changed a bit have you
Matthew- and neither have you
Cleo- and what’s that suppose to mean
Matthew- things aint going you’re way so…
Cleo- I punch you in the face I shouldn’t have but you deserved it
Matthew- and there is a lot of things you deserve
Cleo- me I didn’t do anything wrong you were the one lying and as for your moods I didn’t know if I was coming or going half the time
Matthew- my mood swings what about you flying off the handle over every trivial little detail
Cleo- I did not only when I knew you were lying to me which was most of the time anyway
Matthew- the only reason I got moody with you was because you were always going on accusing me of cheating on you
Cleo- you did cheat on me remember I took you back but you didn’t make things easy for me
Matthew- and why do you think I went looking elsewhere
Cleo- don’t you dare lay the blame at my door I didn’t tell you to sleep with someone else did I
Matthew- it wasn’t what you said it was what you did
Cleo- and that gives you the right to cheat on me makes sense always someone else’s fault
Matthew- you walked out
Cleo- so you ended our marriage when you cheated on me and I know it was more than once
Matthew- what can I say it was a bit of fun
Cleo- you flings or our marriage
Matthew- both
Cleo shook her head – then it’s a good job we’re getting divorced it looks like we’ve both moved on
Matthew- what do you mean
Cleo- didn’t I tell you I’m remarrying
Matthew looked at her stunned
Cleo- yeah I’ve moved on so I don’t know why I’m wasting my time here anymore I’m going back to my hotel for a facial
She opened her car door
Matthew- I’ll sign them later and bring them round which hotel are you staying at
Cleo- I can’t remember you’ll just have to take potluck it’s in Hotten
She climbed in and drove off

They all headed over to Carl’s and they sat in the lounge

Max- hardly you aint even spoken to her in three years
Matthew- we’re still married
Tom- if you sign the papers you won’t be
He handed Matthew a pen
Matthew stared at the papers
Carl- maybe you two should talk
Matthew- you what
Carl- you know it’s when you sit down and don’t shout at each other you really should try it
Matthew- it’s a bit hard when your wife’s an irritable cow
Tom- Matthew, maybe Carl’s right
Matthew- you don’t talk to Cleo she’s not very good at it
Tom- and neither are you do you know where she’s staying
Matthew- a hotel in Hotten
Carl- which one
Matthew- if I knew that do you think I’d be sitting here she’s playing games
Tom- she isn’t the only one to blame for all this
Matthew- she left
Tom- and why was that
Matthew got up and walked out of the house

I'm back everyone thanks for all the replies I really love reading them here is the next little bit more will be posted later :cheer:

Cleo sat in her hotel staring at the picture of her and Matthew it was taken in the early days when they had actually got on it didn’t last though the rows soon started
She looked around the hotel room it was nice but it wasn’t where she wanted to be and she certainly didn’t want to be alone.
Damn you Matthew King
She jumped when her mobile rang
Cleo- Alex no I’m fine business is fine the hotel’s great I should be home in a few days but it could take a couple of weeks it depends this client he’s very stubborn likes things his way I’ll call you tomorrow love you bye
She put down her phone lying to her husband-to-be wasn’t her greatest idea but he couldn’t know not about Matthew as far as he was concerned she was happily divorced and that was the way it was going to stay
The knock on her door made her jump
Cleo- I’m coming
She walked over and opened it
Matthew- we need to talk

Matthew walked over to the mini bar and helped himself to a bottle of beer
Cleo- you just help yourself your not the one who has to pay for it
Matthew- I’m sure with your rich successful fiancé you can afford it

Cleo- no of him
Matthew- why would I be jealous
He took a swig of the drink
Cleo- because he’s screwing your wife
Matthew took a deep breath before turning to face her
Matthew- let him
He placed the bottle down and he walked out
Cleo sat on the bed and put her head in her hands
Cleo- stupid, stupid Cleo don’t let him back in
But it was too late Cleo realised facing her husband was the biggest mistake she had ever made

Matthew stood outside the hotel he stared up at the sky he wasn’t going back there not again not now not ever but before he could stop himself he turned and headed back into the hotel
Cleo lay on her bed a million thoughts running through her head when the door opened Cleo sat up and Matthew entered her room for the second time
Cleo- what are you doing back here you made your feelings very clear
Matthew- did I
Cleo- I think the words ‘let him’ told me everything I need to know
Matthew- what if I told you I was lying what if I told you that it makes me so angry to think of you in bed with someone else
Cleo- he’s my fiancé I love him
She turned away from him if she looked at him any longer she’d give in
Matthew slowly moved across the room
Matthew- who are you trying to convince me or you
She could feel him standing behind her his breath on her neck, his arms around her waist she wanted to say no
She turned around
Cleo gently kissed him
Matthew pulled her closer and kissed her back

As they lay in bed Cleo turned and the reality of what she’d done hit her
Cleo- this was a mistake I’m getting married this wasn’t how it was suppose to be
Matthew- but you did it anyway
Cleo- I know I’m in the wrong not you your not committed to someone else I’m someone else’s
Matthew- well I better get back I’ll see you at the end of the week I promise
He climbed out of bed
Cleo- is that it
Matthew- like you said you’re with someone else and we’re getting divorced
Cleo was stunned and sat back in the bed as Matthew dressed
Matthew- see you around
He turned and walked out
Cleo- pig
Well there was no way she was letting him get one over her like that Matthew King had just declared war and she wasn’t going out without a fight

The next morning she drove back to Emmerdale no one treated her like that and got away with it
She pulled up outside the garage and walked over to Scott and Robert
Cleo- hi you couldn’t have a look at my car could you?
Scott- sure what’s the problem?
Cleo- well there isn’t one but I need a favour
Scott- a favour depends what kind of favour
Cleo- my soon to be ex husband needs a little wake up call that’s all can we use your office and I’ll run you through the details
Scott- follow me

While Scott and Robert looked at her car Cleo headed over to the café the place went quiet most had been in the pub the day before and recognised her instantly
Cleo ordered a coffee and sat down she could feel everyone watching her but right now she couldn’t careless all she wanted was to go home she’d had enough but first she was gonna have a little fun she looked up as the doors opened and Carl and Max walked in
Carl- hey up looks like troubles about
Max- she seems pretty pleased with herself wonder if her and Matt have been fighting again
Carl- spoke to him this morning and he was pretty smug too
Cleo smiled at the brothers as they made their way over
Cleo- and to what do I owe this honour
Carl- just checking your all right you and Matt had a bit of a run in yesterday
Cleo- story of our marriage
Max- well life seems to be treating you all right
Cleo- having a filthy rich fiancé sees to that
She sipped her coffee
Carl- so when’s the big day?
Cleo- the minute this divorce is finalised
Carl- that could take months
Cleo- not if I can help it
Max- so not much chance of a happy reunion

They headed over to the pub

Inside they sat down
Cleo- it wasn’t exactly the way I planned it I didn’t come here to start fights I just want a divorce is there anything wrong with that

Cleo- he wound me up and I know I shouldn’t have retaliated

She laughed and sipped her orange juice
Carl- what happened last night when he went to the hotel?

Cleo- it was another big mistake I made and I aint planning on making another

Cleo- no he just dressed and walked out of my hotel room as if nothing happened he used me

Scott- for Matthew it’s for repairs and maintenance on his wife’s car
He handed the bill over to Matthew and walked out
Matthew got up and went after him
Matthew- then give it to her if it’s for my wife
Tom and Jimmy had followed him out
Scott- she told me you’d pay for it so I’m giving it to you and I want payment by the end of the week
Matthew- forget it
Scott- take it up with your wife not me I’m just doing what she said
Matthew- and what did she say
Scott- Matthew King will pay for any work on my car after all he is my husband for now, I think were her exact words
He walked off towards the garage
Jimmy- how much is it the invoice
Matthew opened it- nearly a grand’s worth of repairs silly little Cleo trying to play games
