CORONATION Street's top stars have been put at risk from killer cancer-causing dust in Granada TV studios, The People can reveal.

Production crew on the hit soap have already been struck down after inhaling deadly asbestos particles - and one has been given only months to live.

Weatherfield veterans including Betty Driver (Betty Turpin), Anne Kirkbride (Deirdre Barlow), Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth) and Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth), Bill Roache (Ken Barlow) and Julie Goodyear (Bet Lynch) may have all been exposed to the dust.

A People investigation has uncovered health and safety failures by bosses going back 29 years. They...

CONTINUED to use one major studio to avoid disrupting filming schedules.

FORGOT to fully tackle that asbestos for a staggering SIX YEARS

Thats really sad, someone's dying from it.

its a scandal for the show...like eastenders have been in the papers every week for the mistakes that the actors make, now for a change its corrie, not corries actors that are doing wrong!

would serve them right if they were forced to tear down the sets to remove it...then they'd be in trouble...its disgusting that theyve decided to avoid the problem for so long...maybe his dying blokes revealation might kick their butts into gear!

Lets get things into perspective folks

from ds

ITV are not the only organisation with this problem.

Asbestos: Magic Mineral or Deadly Dust
The needle-like fibres seemed like nature's perfect gift. Fireproof, indestructible and cheap, from the 1940s to the 1970s, asbestos was everywhere. It was woven into clothes, used to insulate buildings and even mixed with water as children's play dough. That was before studies linked asbestos dust with cancer and lung disease. Authorities now say asbestos, when handled properly, poses little risk. But nagging concerns, highlighted by the plight of the asbestos miners, have resulted in a shrivelling industry.

Although this is a terrible thing to happen I can't help but think the language used in the article has been exaggerated and made to look far worse than it actually is.

oh my god - those poor people!

i can't believe granada has be so stupid! they should have just never used that place again until it was free from ALL of the absetos. who cares if they have to spend a load of money on building a new building and getting rid of absetos when people's lives are at risk!
